Kobold Wizard's Journal
Chapter 370 Gods and Demons
Chapter 370 Gods and Demons
No matter how great the storms outside, no matter what arrangements the wizards of the world have, daily meditation is something that cannot be stopped.
Because among countless crossroads and countless choices, this is the only one that is certain, the only one that you can always do with peace of mind, the right thing to do.
Luger was highly focused, in a state of self-forgetfulness, using his mental power to outline runes one by one, activating the Silent Seal. The seal devoured the runes of the same origin, accelerating its rotation, like a strange and terrifying millstone, crushing the mental power and dragging five increasingly thin and long demonic marks.
When everything comes together, that will be the moment he has been waiting for.
Exhaustive meditation involves the depletion and replenishment of mental energy.
A kind of dramatic rise and fall, like the surging waves of the sea, but unlike the annoying waves, as his mental strength recovers, he will have a sense of comfort.
The depleted mental energy gradually replenished, just like when you were exhausted and about to collapse, you suddenly felt full of vitality again, and you immediately felt light and had inexhaustible strength.
Like the ever-returning waves, Luger repeated himself over and over again, his mental energy going from full to depleted time and time again.
At the same time, he was constantly, subtly, gradually expanding the upper limit of his mental power.
Ruger opened his eyes.
My mental energy was fully replenished for the last time, but I still felt a little tired.
He did two more rounds of meditation as usual.
Sometimes, feeling tired can also be a kind of enjoyment.
I lay in bed and didn't want to move at all.
Ruger was still very much looking forward to the path of the faith wizard, his anticipation mixed with curiosity. But upon closer reflection, curiosity clearly took the lead. Although he had enjoyed the greatest freedom along his extraordinary path, that is, without a mentor to guide him, he still had some of his own ideas and choices. He was destined not to go all out on the path of the faith wizard, and he didn't like the feeling of being trapped on a small island for decades. This confinement was not just about staying there, but about spending time and effort to manage it, to compete with the surrounding islands, and to pretend to be a god day after day.
He preferred to use that time for meditation and practicing magic.
He lay in bed, scratching his chin as he pondered.
If it's just a minor involvement, his Abyss Bedroom space is a place that can be used, but it can't be completely self-sufficient. Although it's spacious, it still can't accommodate too many living creatures. So if he really intends to put believers in there, he must choose some special ones, like the guy who kept rats that he met before. Those would be much more convenient than humans.
Ruger stroked his chin, even thinking about creating something like a demon, with enough tenacity to survive a period of hunger without fear of starvation.
He could even use the cracks in the bedroom space to forage for food in the abyss. But this was just wishful thinking; he couldn't risk it for such a thing. The constant comings and goings of believers might attract powerful demons. Besides, demons that were too foolish wouldn't work, and those that were too clever were difficult to subdue. Moreover, his strength wasn't great; even if he managed to get a few, the number would be small and meaningless.
Or something more unusual. He thought of the things he had encountered in the Nightmare World, and the apprentice of the faith wizard who had died at his hands. Those ghostly consciousness-like things followed that guy and fought for him. They were clearly his followers, and they didn't seem to need to eat.
But the guy who raises mice once said when introducing his special little hamster followers that things that are too stupid won't do, and things that lack intelligence are of little help and provide very little faith power.
Ruger rolled over in bed; normal human believers were destined to be out of his reach.
He would never do something like just randomly picking a bunch of kobolds and stuffing them in, feeding them and acting as their babysitters every day. Besides, those guys are a bit stupid, probably not even as good as those specially bred little hamsters that jump around. If they were transformed into dragonborn kobolds, their appetites would be even greater.
We'll wait until Kurt sends the notes before making any decisions.
Hopefully, the guy who's busy swinging the hammer will be able to finish organizing his notes by tomorrow night. In their conversation, they didn't actually set the date for tomorrow.
That guy only said that his promotion wouldn't happen today or tomorrow, and that he needed to make some preparations, but he would send the things over first.
Ruger felt that perhaps in the end, just as that guy said, as long as there was some capacity to bear it, once it successfully advanced, sending a little pure faith power would be enough. However, venturing into a completely new field without first exploring it, he felt a surge of indescribable emotions. Outside the window, a swaying figure was gradually disappearing into the distance.
Without turning his head, Luger knew that it was the wizard Zorn out looking for drinks again.
He simply waved his hand and entered the Abyss bedroom space to have dinner with Aiskin and the others.
Silent all night.
When Ruger woke up, he didn't hear the wizard Zorn snoring.
The wizard who said he would keep an eye on the contract for him seems to be sleeping by the roadside, or perhaps being carried home by some strong cook.
A crisp knock sounded on the door.
Luger smiled.
The blacksmith apprentice arrived as scheduled.
“You look very tired, Lord Kurt. Perhaps you should ask old Ethan for a few days’ leave.”
Ruger welcomed him into the courtyard and casually remarked.
Kurt shook his head wearily.
“Let’s finish quickly, or old Ethan will start yelling again. He’s been a bit irritable lately. When there’s no business, he gets really grumpy and starts yelling, as if he’s constantly venting. But when there’s a big deal, he’s the kind of guy who gets really tense and demanding of himself, so he can get irritable too. Of course, he won’t yell at mediocre people. I’m his most prized disciple…”
As Kurt spoke eloquently, he took out a notebook and a contract that looked much more expensive than old Lenser's.
Ruger casually glanced to the left and right as he walked.
Zorn the wizard did not appear.
He raised an eyebrow, not particularly concerned.
The two went to the only table in the living room.
"This is my summary. Everything I can think of that might be helpful to you is written down here. If there's anything you still don't understand, I can answer it for you again within a certain scope."
Kurt placed the notebook and contract on the table, his fingers twitching slightly to turn the contract toward Ruger.
The two began to discuss the contract clause by clause. The contract was not very complicated. Perhaps it was the identity of the demon hunter wizard that made it so. It was very polite and even clearly stated that there was a one-month period. If Kurt was not ready or had not performed the ascension ritual within a month, then the contract would be considered complete and Ruger would not have to wait any longer.
After looking at it from all angles and finding no issues with the precautions, the two finalized their agreement and began to leave their respective secret marks on the contract.
"Will your advancement ritual attract demons?"
Ruger suddenly spoke up.
"Do not let laughter blind you, dear Lord Ruger, you should know that my divine name... is the God of Sorrow."
Kurt left his arcane mark on the contract, shrugged, and said casually.
