Kobold Wizard's Journal
Chapter 357 Gods and Laughter
Chapter 357 Gods and Laughter
Ruger quickly learned about the so-called Chaotic Stars. It was a group of islands of varying sizes scattered across a sea, much like the names of the various underground cities. People in the underground world always used such words in their names, as if they were related to celestial beings. Therefore, this sea was called the Chaotic Stars Sea. For the people of the underground world, the sky and stars might only exist in ancient books.
Whenever Ruger sees or hears about stars or similar things, he is reminded of these events.
—Only wizards can walk on the ground.
Is this really okay?
Ruger looked at the man beside him with a beard and chest hair. This was clearly not going to work; he was no longer the little dog-headed boy who had never been in contact with a formal wizard.
Or perhaps this statement is time-sensitive, and while all so-called wizards, including formal wizards, are considered wizards and are called wizards by ordinary people, the term "wizard" does not necessarily refer to a specific link in the chain.
This saying has been circulating in the underground world for who knows how many years.
It has inspired countless naive young people, starting with curiosity and longing, yearning to become wizards. Even if they later learn more, gain power, and lose themselves, this sentence remains the starting point of their wonderful dream.
Perhaps at some point, becoming a wizard will truly allow one to walk on the ground.
Just like the development of the wizarding world, everything changes over time.
But to know the true nature of everything—be it knowledge and truth, or the true nature of the underground world—one still needs to become a wizard, and a powerful wizard at that. Therefore, this statement can be revised to: only a wizard can know the whole truth, the true face of the world.
Ruger gazed at the endless sea in the dim light of the distance.
I thought of the story Vito and Raden told me in the Rabbit Hut, about the wizard who longed to explore to the edge of the Endless Sea.
The protagonist of that story eventually gave up, and his state of mind at the time was similar. Only by becoming a powerful enough wizard could he know, and be qualified to understand, where the boundaries of the Endless Sea were and why everything was the way it was.
Ruger looked at his finger, the finger branded with the mark of his identity as a witch hunter.
The highest council of wizards knows the truth and the facts, as well as knowledge and the world.
They either become high-ranking wizards that even the highest council cannot ignore, or they achieve a certain level of prominence within the council, or they become involved in some special areas. Most wizards are not interested in fighting for those illusory things; their own strength is the guarantee of everything.
Ruger suddenly looked up, and the bearded, hairy-chested man was turning back to look at them.
"You can call me Wizard Zorn."
The bearded man said casually.
Although he only glanced back normally, Ruger felt that the wizard with the beard and chest hair fighting each other had given a special look to the burly Mahama.
"Lord Zorn."
Ruge and Mahama greeted each other formally and introduced themselves.
Speeding all the way.
The Chaotic Star Sea is quite vast, but it is not truly chaotic. Focusing on the level of wizard apprentices, the intertwining of forces is naturally intricate and complex. However, at a higher level, even some wizard apprentices who are openly and secretly vying for power will put their arms around each other and offer sincere smiles. This is because the so-called Chaotic Star Sea is, in reality, merely the border between two major powers.
On either side of this sea area composed of scattered islands lie two incredibly vast territories. The entire Chaotic Star Sea has three towering Heavenly Pillar Mountains, distributed in different locations, while each of the two factions' territories has dozens of Heavenly Pillar Mountains. Although using Heavenly Pillar Mountains to compare the size of a force's territory is not entirely accurate, the vast difference is enough to give a glimpse of its scale. To them, the Chaotic Star Sea is more like two crisp, differently shaped pastries. When their tails collided, some sweet and delicious crumbs fell off, and these scattered crumbs are the numerous islands of the Chaotic Star Sea.
Luger and his group were the demon hunter wizards mainly responsible for the Chaotic Star Sea.
Suddenly, a powerful surge of magic emanated from the hands of the wizard Zorn, whose beard and chest hair seemed to be fighting, and the monster beneath him, exuding a demonic aura, suddenly increased in speed.
The three of them soon landed in a city filled with laughter and joy.
Although the wizard Zorn had some beard and chest hair, he didn't look particularly robust or muscular, especially compared to the much more burly Mahama. However, his actions proved that his unruly beard, which rivaled his chest hair, was well-deserved; it wasn't just rugged, but rather somewhat savage. He didn't even bother to tell Ruger and the other two about the composition of the witch-hunting wizards here, such as which wizards or apprentices were present. He simply tossed them into a courtyard and left alone. Ruger stood somewhat bewildered in front of a dilapidated two-story building in the courtyard. The city seemed to be in the midst of a carnival, filled with a joyous festive atmosphere. He guessed that the wizard Zorn's hurried steps were most likely just to go for a drink, rather than having any important business.
"None of the rooms inside should be occupied, so I think we can choose any one we like."
Mahama looked him over for a moment and then casually remarked.
Ruger straightened his robe and nodded.
The unfamiliar and complex sea, the eccentric wizard, and the brand-new apprentice witch hunter life have inexplicably brought together two people who had only met once before, and they have developed a special bond.
Neither of them were the type to pursue useless things, and they quickly chose their rooms.
For a moment, Ruger felt as if he were in a dream, and in the blink of an eye, he had become that so-called demon hunter wizard.
The two agreed to meet on the street.
They haven't even had dinner yet.
As Ruger walked, he pondered. Their goal was simply to find an ordinary tavern, grab a bite to eat, and get familiar with the surroundings.
When we were choosing the room, we roughly estimated that besides them and Wizard Zorn, there were probably two other wizards or wizard apprentices in that house whom we hadn't met yet.
Ruger looked up at the streets and alleys, at the laughing crowds of people of all ages and genders passing by.
Both of them had already changed out of their wizard robes.
"This is a truly rare sight."
"Mahama suddenly said."
Luger nodded, and the burly man spoke first.
"It's quite rare to see everyone so cheerful; their laughter has engulfed the entire city..."
Ruger looked around and said in a low voice.
As dusk faded, torches were lit and bonfires were set up throughout the city.
"What are the two forces that are sandwiched between the Chaotic Star Sea?"
Ruger asked curiously, recalling that on the back of that strange beast, he had only heard the wizard Zorn lazily say a few words, seemingly believing that it was something they couldn't access due to its geographical location and level of strength, and therefore had nothing to do with it, so he didn't mention it.
"I don't know much about them. I only know the names of the gods, but not the wizards behind them. One is the God of Knowledge, but that's just a nicer name. He should be called the God of the Spread of Knowledge. The other is the Three Flames Palace, which is said to be more powerful than the God of Knowledge. On the main island, there are three towering palaces made of strange flames, where believers kneel and worship day and night..."
When Mahama spoke of these things, he was very calm, with a hint of disdain.
Ruger didn't have any particular thoughts; he simply listened with great interest.
Seeing that he was interested, Mahama continued.
"The Chaotic Star Sea is the extension of the battle between these two, and also a microcosm of the battle. Their respective gods, with the support of each other, have changed waves of people over decades and centuries, and the battle continues in this way... It is said that the God of Knowledge has been at a disadvantage for the past hundred years."
Mahama's lips curled up slightly as he said this.
