Kobold Wizard's Journal
Chapter 312 Casual and Deliberate
Chapter 312 Casual and Deliberate
"What is this? Is it a manor?" Ruger looked at the courtyard in front of him, which was different from what he had imagined.
"This size can hardly be called a manor. You can just wait here for me."
The crisp sound had just faded.
When Luger turned around, the small figure beside him had vanished.
The slightly taller girl also noticed the problem and, looking panicked, turned to look at the dog-headed monster who was still leisurely standing there.
"Don't worry, I think she'll be back soon..."
Ruger forced a grin and said.
"You have a younger sister and brother?"
Since he had nothing better to do, he casually started a conversation.
The girl was taken aback, seemingly not expecting that the powerful wizard would talk to her about these things.
The girl quickly composed herself.
A gentle smile appeared on her face: "Yes, sir, two younger brothers and three younger sisters, they are all very lovely... it's just that feeding them is a bit difficult for me."
"Where are your parents?"
Luger looked into the depths of the courtyard, but saw no movement.
“I have no parents, no memories of them. I've lived alone since I was very young, always hungry. You probably don't know what it's like to be hungry... It's hard to describe. Sometimes you're hungry and then you're not hungry anymore. They also had no parents. For various reasons, I took them in, or maybe they took me in... Giving me family. So I don't want them to experience that feeling. So, please, gentlemen, don't send me away…”
The girl looked completely sincere.
Ruger could feel her clenched hands.
He suddenly wondered if this so-called powerful wizard might not be thinking about improving his strength, or if he wasn't here to advance his level, but rather to experience life and pass the time. If that were the case, it would be quite interesting.
“Don’t worry, I won’t kick you out, but that girl, though small in stature, has a strange temper and isn’t easy to talk to,” Ruger said, gazing at the courtyard. “I can’t guarantee what she’ll decide.”
The girl smiled with delight upon hearing this and nodded gently.
After nodding, she lifted her skirt and bowed to Ruger.
Ruger rolled his eyes at the gesture of bowing.
Before she could say anything more, her petite figure had already stepped out.
“Alright,” Nana Erz said, “this place is ours now.”
“It’s yours,” Ruger corrected. “I’m just asking for lodging; one room will suffice.”
He felt that since this tall little thing was going to do that, it would definitely stay here for a while. Right now, the life of this girl in the gray dress was still closely tied to this land.
But he is different.
The two girls were beautiful, but he was an ambitious kobold.
To outsiders, living in the same courtyard with two beautiful young women might actually seem like a great experience.
But those two little things that don't even reach his shoulder are the real giants.
But he, this tall, handsome, and strong dog-headed man, is the truly insignificant one.
Lost in thought, he followed the petite figure into the unusually styled courtyard.
"How many wizarding apprentices are here?" Ruger asked casually.
"I didn't pay attention, there were probably around twenty people... but now there are none left."
The petite figure casually remarked without turning her head.
"You killed them all?" Ruger said.
"Of course not. We'll be staying in Blackhorn City for a while, so we can't do that kind of thing right now," the girl said rationally.
Ruger nodded in agreement. Actually, thinking about it, the main reason was that killing those guys wouldn't bring much value; otherwise, this little thing wouldn't have let them leave.
At least that's what Ruger thought, but he didn't say it aloud.
“I only killed three, knocked out a few, and… that was just their bad luck,” Nana Erz raised her hand to show something, “It was only on the third person that I found this thing…”
Ruger raised an eyebrow. It was a cheap, basic fighter potion, and it looked to be of average quality, at best mediocre, the kind that would get an old Lunser knocking on the head for.
Judging from the appearance, this shrewd little thing didn't have such low-grade materials, so he simply grabbed a bottle.
Even without turning around, Ruger could hear the changing breathing behind him. When the short man took out the Fighter's Potion, the breathing behind him noticeably became heavier for a moment.
Ruger found it amusing and randomly picked a room to stay in.
He stopped in his tracks as soon as he entered the room.
"This guy really has a twisted sense of humor," Ruger thought to himself.
This guy didn't just randomly grab a place to live. There was a much stronger demonic aura permeating the building, probably drawn from the Dark Valley. Perhaps the entire building was situated on a magic circle.
She must have already scouted the area and wanted to use the environment here to further torment the gray-skirted attendant who was slightly taller than her.
Ruger looked around the room.
This place was naturally several times more spacious than his little attic, but unlike the luxurious exterior, the room was quite simple, or rather, rustic. It seemed that the original owner of the room was a wizard apprentice who was focused on his studies. There wasn't even a decent bed; instead, there was a long stone slab.
Ruger raised an eyebrow and waved his hand to bring out his attic bed.
He lay there, letting his mind wander for a while, before beginning to meditate.
With just one moment of meditation, I felt the difference.
The unique aura of the Black Valley Domain is influencing his body and mental space slowly, subtly, and strangely.
Ruger opened his eyes, rubbing his chin, and he thought of the girl in the gray dress who had followed him all the way.
Ordinary people growing up in this place may produce more people with wizarding aptitude. This may be a good experiment, or a large-scale attempt, to produce more wizarding apprentices. Moreover, many of these apprentices will be suitable for touching on areas related to demons, or they may be naturally interested in demonic power.
He thought of his teacher, who hadn't appeared yet, the one with only one leg.
Perhaps this teacher is from here, born in the territory of some underground city, and has come this far to reach where he is now.
So, what is the relationship between the long-lost demon wizard, who is also his teacher's teacher, and this strange place?
How did that esteemed person, who had been missing for so long, manage to discover his genius half-teacher and how did he take in and train such an outstanding disciple?
Ruger, lost in thought, took out the plush doll and fiddled with it in his hands.
A series of spiritual nourishing spells bloomed in his hands.
He suddenly turned his head and looked at the simple, long stone slab that was clearly being used as a bed.
He walked up to the stone slab, tried to touch it, and then sat down.
The unique aura of the Black Valley Domain, even stronger than before, wafted through the stone slabs, instantly elevating the atmosphere of the entire room to a new level.
The reason Ruger changed his tune was that after entering the room and feeling the aura become stronger, he felt more and more that it should be called the special aura of the Black Valley Domain. It belonged to demons, but it was not an ordinary demon aura.
He continued until he completed another round of deep meditation.
There was no sound, perhaps Nana Erz's imposing aura had intimidated the other party, preventing them from having the intention to cause trouble.
Suddenly, an idea struck me.
He rose and put away his wizard's robes. Enchanted Skin, Bull Power, Demon Body, his spirit surged, and several spells flashed across his body in succession, causing his form to change.
He stood on the stone slab and let out a long sigh.
In an instant, I felt incredibly refreshed, both physically and mentally.
This strange sense of comfort was something even the Abyss had never given him. It must be related to the demons who died here and caused this dark valley. Of course, when he last went to the Abyss to work for the half-humans, he was not in this state. At that time, he was just a small dog-headed man using the magic skin spell. He was a real little thing, using the magic skin spell to cover up some of his scent.
He remembered that the half-human had said that the material he used to cast the Demon Skin spell came from the buttocks of a savage demon. Although he didn't know what a savage demon was, he knew that the buttocks were very useful.
