Kobold Wizard's Journal
Chapter 304 Rain and the Banquet
Chapter 304 Rain and the Banquet
The ten bottles of purification agent were completed quickly.
Ruger went to the window and looked out. Standing by the window of his small workshop, he could see another neighbor in the alley.
If anyone else would be affected besides old Lunther and his group, or if there were any additional effects besides those with unstable bloodlines, it would undoubtedly be this old statue gentleman. Under the blood rain, the infected bloodline moved freely and even benefited greatly, but the other wizards and wizard apprentices involved were significantly affected, especially the old statue gentleman who seemed to have come here to recuperate with the help of the blood sun.
As for the chaotic noises just now...
This was the second time Luger had encountered this in the past few days.
At first, he was quite surprised and somewhat confused, until old Lenser, with a gloomy face, revealed the creature's identity at dinner, and Ruger suddenly understood. At times like these, the monsters wreaking havoc under the blood rain, aside from the extremely rare blood beasts that accidentally wandered into the city, are either out-of-control bloodline modifiers. Some have lost their minds, while others have already turned into monsters. In fact, this had happened every time there was a prolonged blood rain in the past, but the City of Burning Blood was so large that it wouldn't necessarily reach their vicinity.
Moreover, the blood sun had never been so dim before, and the blood rain had never lasted so long, Luger thought.
He glanced outside one last time, drew the curtains, and turned to leave.
As he passed the refining platform, he waved his hand and put all the finished purification potions into his storage pocket.
In recent days, a small portion of the purification potion he concocted has been used up by Old Lunser. As far as Luger knows, this potion is generally used to simply rinse the body that has been drenched in blood rain, and then drinking one or two bottles is enough. Some bloodline modifiers with serious bloodline problems may not be able to stand the moisture in the air, and even if they do not go out on rainy days, they will still need to use several bottles. This is the main way the mutated version of the purification potion is consumed in the City of Burning Blood.
To be honest, Ruger hadn't learned how to use the so-called normal version of the purification potion.
The creaking sound of footsteps on the stairs made this world shrouded in blood rain less monotonous.
"Still not out?"
Ruger went to the dining table on the third floor.
The continuous dripping of blood rain for nine days is equivalent to not receiving the sunlight of the blood sun for nine days, while also having to endure the discomfort brought by the blood rain. The tenth day, the eleventh day, and every additional day thereafter will be completely different. For those on the verge of collapse, each subsequent day will be more unbearable than the previous days. At the beginning, they may have been counting the days, but when they are on the verge of their limit, every minute and every second becomes extremely difficult to endure.
Luger touched his stomach.
I decided to go find Aiskin and the others for a meal later.
Luger suddenly paused and stepped downstairs.
Boom!dong dong!
There was a knock on the door.
Ruger stood at the top of the stairs, raising an eyebrow as he looked outside.
A bloodline infected person stood outside the tightly closed shop door, baring his long teeth and grinning maliciously.
As if sensing his arrival, a pair of bloodshot eyes also looked over.
Ruger stretched his shoulders and, without hesitation, walked towards the shop's door.
He didn't want to wait for them to destroy this place.
These guys who usually hide are actually knocking on the door, which is obviously a joke. They're probably a bloodline infected person who's been feeling resentful for a long time. They're just relying on these people with problematic bloodlines so they won't dare to go out in the rain.
Ruger had actually thought of this before. The increase in the number of people who went mad and turned into monsters during this blood rain was due to these guys. They were the ones causing trouble, trying to provoke those bloodline modifiers who were already having a hard time to take action, even destroying their houses and magic circles, and making them get rained on.
The tall, thin infected person outside the door was stunned for a moment upon seeing this.
Luger smiled slightly at him, and while he was still in a daze, he calmly removed the crossbeam inside the door and took down the magic stone of the simple warning array next to him, thus making preliminary preparations for opening the shop.
The tall, thin, blood-related infected man's expression changed from surprise to anger.
Suddenly, the tall, thin man raised his fist, accompanied by strange magical fluctuations.
Ruger smiled, a fleeting glimpse of his foul-smelling skin, interrupting the other person's actions, and then continued to calmly open the shop door inside.
Arriving with malice, and then becoming enraged by Luger's leisurely attitude and disdain, they had already fallen into Luger's trap.
Ruger grinned. He realized that sometimes powerful spells needed something other than the spell itself to complement them.
He finally opened the door. Normally, if he had dawdled like this, he would have been met with an glare from old Lenser.
The moment the door opened, Ruger threw a punch. When he stepped back into the rain, unhurried, the infected bloodline, swaying as he got up, realized something was wrong.
"He is also a blood-borne infected wizard apprentice."
As Luger spoke, he prepared to move and glanced at his neighbor's house diagonally across the alley.
The old man with the statue and the lady with the black and white cat are probably not home.
Malice is a very interesting thing. It doesn't diminish because of fear. Even if you no longer dare to fight back, the malice still intensifies, just like this bloodline infected person at this moment.
The tall, thin infected man suddenly opened his mouth and made a barely perceptible strange sound.
Soon, two more people with bloodline infection appeared at the entrance of the alley.
"Is this all the ones nearby?"
Ruger looked at the three people in front of him and nodded.
He didn't want a huge hole suddenly punched in his house while he was sleeping or munching on a steak, so he decided to act a little more arrogant and give himself a chance to lure the neighbors over and catch them all at once.
"Hehe, you cunning little Luger, getting wet in the rain is not a good habit. Don't be too playful."
A gentle voice came from inside the old Lunsser Pharmacy, whose doors were open.
Ruger froze, glancing inside the door, but all he could see was a dimly lit, slightly dilapidated first floor of a shop.
Although he didn't see anyone, Ruger knew it was Aunt Jenny, whom he hadn't seen in a long time.
The seemingly caring words seemed to be urging him to resolve the trouble quickly.
Ruger sighed.
Just as he was about to take a step, the three infected bloodline in front of him turned into dust, scattered before his eyes, and disappeared into the world along the cracks in the paving stones, washed away by the rain.
Luger paused for a moment, shook his fur, put on a smile, and ran towards the shop.
Standing at the door, he took out three bottles of purification potion and poured them over his head, then drank one of them.
"Is this a potion you made? Although it's a basic potion, the quality is quite good..."
Jenny praised her aloud.
"Your uncle wasn't as good as you when he was learning to make potions."
Again, we only hear their voices but never see them.
But this time, Ruger figured out that the other person seemed to be near the dining table upstairs.
Remembering Jenny's casual remark that getting wet in the rain was bad, Ruger quickly took out three more bottles, applied some to other parts of his body, closed the door, and went upstairs.
Sure enough, as soon as I got to the second floor, I heard noises coming from the small kitchen on the third floor.
"Little Rug, don't be impatient. I can already hear your stomach growling. I'll soon have a sumptuous dinner prepared. It's a dish I recently learned to make, one that your uncle hasn't tried yet. About fifty years ago, I pestered my friend to teach me these dishes..."
Jenny's voice came from the third floor again.
When Ruger walked up with a smile, he saw that old Lenser was already sitting at the dining table with a grim expression, while Aunt Jenny was busy on the side.
When Luger looked over, the old dog-headed man managed to force a smile and gave a perfunctory response.
This earned him a disdainful look from Luger.
Suddenly, it dawned on Ruger that Jenny hadn't appeared here for no reason. She might have come to take old Lunser away, or perhaps she had sensed that old Lunser was in such a bad state that she was needed.
This could be a farewell dinner that comes unexpectedly.
