Kobold Wizard's Journal
Chapter 260 Thoughts and Time
Chapter 260 Thoughts and Time
Ruger felt the connection between himself and Zhizhi in his heart. There was nothing unusual on the other side, so he followed his own nature and slowly walked back.
The Nightmare World is like a vast and chaotic pool, where many things are not born according to the environment, like irrational existences. At the same time, this ever-expanding pool, despite its extreme complexity, manages to remain largely lifeless, almost like a dead world. You can see many things, but there is always a lack of vitality. And the most twisted thing is that the little vitality it has always appears in things that shouldn't be there.
Ruger tilted his head as he walked, using the left horn on his head to cut off a branch; the slightly curved tip of the horn was flashing with Lesser Sharpness.
This time, he didn't rush to remove the effects of the spell on him, but instead strolled leisurely, letting them dissipate over time.
His tall figure had shrunk back to normal at some point. He stepped over a protruding rock, his strength diminishing in two stages. He walked slowly until the feeling of lightness disappeared, at which point he took out the robe he had put away and put it on.
As he walked along, it was as if he had transformed from a bloodthirsty demon into a savage kobold, and then in the blink of an eye into a gentle, civilized wizard apprentice in an old robe, who even twitched his ears.
Ruger sensed the distance between himself and Zizi in his mind, and it seemed that they were not far apart.
Suddenly, his palms warmed up, and he unintentionally found himself at a spot where he could drop the cone-shaped object.
He casually tossed aside the small cone-shaped object in his hand. He was quite satisfied with the large storage bag; the item was taken out along with the wizard's robe earlier, and he hadn't expected to find something so soon after taking it out.
As he fiddled with the few tufts of fur, he mentally sensed the storage pouch, thinking that if he was lucky, he could finish the task in another day or two.
Suddenly, the scenery before my eyes trembled, like a canvas about to be torn apart.
A powerful surge of mental energy emanated from it, a force that was no longer within the scope of a wizard apprentice.
A blurry figure gradually appeared.
Ruger turned to run, but then suddenly stopped.
He sensed a familiarity in that powerful spiritual force.
"How's it going?"
The newcomer stepped out; it was none other than the newly appointed wizard, Lady Myuth, whom we hadn't seen for many days.
Ruger stood respectfully, noticing that Mutress's gaze was fixed on the storage pouch containing the cone-shaped object.
"Reporting to you, sir, it will be completed in a few more days," Luger said.
Muzzle looked around.
"Isn't that guy here? I was thinking of asking him to cook another pot of soup, but never mind..." Muse said, turning to leave.
Ruger watched the whole thing unfold, standing respectfully to the side in silence.
Suddenly, Mucruci stopped and turned around.
Ruger was still trying to judge from her subtle expressions whether the newly minted wizard had fared well during her mysterious disappearance.
Suddenly, Mutress spoke up and said softly, "You can pray for yourselves now. Based on my speculation about her... you should be able to come in handy soon. If it weren't for that strange Nightmare Demon last time, you might have had a few more easy days."
After saying that, Muzzle chuckled.
With a pleasant chuckle, her figure gradually blurred until she disappeared from sight.
Luger tilted his head and looked around to make sure she was really gone before he started walking back.
Should I feel heavy-hearted?
Should we be afraid?
Ruger pursed his lips; he didn't want to be like that. Without his lightness technique and the strength of the bull, he still lightly leaped onto a rock, as if walking on a bridge, and then gracefully jumped down to the other side.
If things really come to that point, when he has to do something, he will naturally risk revealing the triangular symbol he obtained from the poetry collection. If he fails, if he angers the old woman and faces death, then he will experience death.
Perhaps if he dies in this strange nightmare world, he will become some strange thing sometime in the future, Ruger thought.
The firelight flickered.
Ruger strode forward with light steps, the light of the campfire already in sight.
A sound of footsteps came, and Vito ran over.
Ruger smiled as he looked at Vito. Before he left, he had instructed Vito to watch over the sleeping Leiden.
He felt that when he rushed out and started the chase, he didn't seem to have much of a thought to help Vito. The thoughts that flashed through his mind and the emotions he felt at the time were mostly related to himself.
"Lord Leiden has woken up. We discussed that if you didn't return soon, we would go out to look for you, but Zizi has been stopping us," Vito said with a smile. "That has put our minds at ease..."
Luger nodded. Squeaky is a clever little guy.
Moreover, it is not only intelligent, but it also has some of its own opinions when it does not receive detailed commands. Although it can be silly at times, part of its knowledge comes from what it saw and heard among the insectoid race before it hatched, and the other part comes from what it came into contact with after following Luger.
"I hope he slept well..."
Ruger and Vito chatted and laughed as they walked back.
"Then you may be disappointed."
As Vito spoke, he looked Ruger up and down, seemingly trying to check if he was injured.
The first thing I saw when I got back to the campfire was the pot of soup cooking on the shelf, and the sound of bubbling soup. Then I saw Leiden deep in thought by the campfire, and Squeak peeking out and chirping nearby.
Squeak, of course, knew of his return earlier than Vito, but still adhered to his previous orders and stayed near Leiden.
"You're not injured?"
Leiden snapped out of his reverie.
“Your Excellency Vito has examined every single hair on my head,” Ruger quipped. “I’m more interested in how your dream is going.”
Leiden began to organize his thoughts.
“Perhaps it’s a downside,” Leiden said, choosing his words carefully. “It interfered with my dreams, but in my opinion, it wasn’t that bad. It was a benign interference. It’s just that I might not have the freedom to dream anymore. Even the mushrooms that interfered with my dreams—I fell asleep after eating them, and the mushrooms chased after me, just like last time, but… it was under that tree, near that sapling, and it ended quickly. The sapling seemed to be growing faster by devouring my dream. When I left the dream, it was already taller than me.”
Ruger nodded, and Vito, who was standing to the side, was listening attentively even though he didn't have a chance to interact with him.
“Of course, we need more opportunities to learn more…” Leiden looked up and fiddled with the campfire again.
Luger smiled slightly and shook his head.
"There may not be that many opportunities and time to try," he said.
