Chapter 123 Intelligence and Foolishness

Chapter 123 Intelligence and Foolishness

Along the way, the man under the hood only glanced at Ruger curiously, and seeing that he was following Lorigo, he didn't say anything more.

This was Luger's first time setting foot in the Starry Sky family's castle, and it was indeed much more imposing than the Fendis family's. Interestingly, they encountered no obstacles. As they entered the castle and made their way forward, the atmosphere became increasingly strange, with fully armed family knights standing on both sides, each bearing the Starry Sky family's crest on a corner of their armor.

The most distinctive feature of this castle is not its grandeur, but the fact that a separate area was designated for it from the very beginning of its construction. The Starry Sky Clan had only the responsibility of looking after it, not the authority to manage it. The teleportation array leading to the Upper Realm was located there.

The family knights gradually disappeared from sight on both sides of the road.

A spacious, luxurious square appeared before the three of them. In the center of the square stood an imposing human-shaped statue, which was undoubtedly the ancestor of the Starry Sky family during their pioneering wars.

Two roads branch off at the back of the square.

Ruger looked at the two roads, assuming that one of them would lead to the dreamland he had been waiting for.

A round of applause erupted!
On the steps of the statue's base, a person who had been standing looking up at the statue is now turning around and gently clapping.

This man's appearance was seven-tenths similar to Lorigo's, but he was a head taller and had a slightly longer face. The differences in his eyebrows and eyes were not significant, but it was these subtle differences in details that made their temperaments look very different at first glance. This man, whose face was slightly pale, had exceptionally bright eyes, with a kind of flamboyant confidence that came from a sickly state.

The pale-faced man clapped his hands, revealing a gentle smile.

“I’ve been waiting for you for so long, my dear sister, and my silly brother.”

The man looked at them with a smile, completely ignoring Luger, who was staring blankly at the scenery.

"What, aren't you happy for me to see your brother able to stand up?" the man said, his smile widening.

Ruger noticed that Lorig's expression changed several times, and his lips trembled slightly, but Ruger remained calm because he could sense that Miss Dasoya Starlight was still composed. This meant there was nothing to worry about.

He recalled his earlier speculation about wizarding apprentices: as they grew older, many wizarding apprentices had a vague understanding of their hometowns and little affection for them.

Now, Dasoya Fanxing looked at her older brother with extreme confidence and even arrogance, probably as if she were looking at a clown.

Despite the fact that the man seemed to have expected her to appear, which frightened Lorigo so much that his face turned pale.

“My brother, do you really think I don’t know? All those magic stones you’ve been taking from the family all these years, you’re not a superhuman,” he said, raising his arm in front of him, “are you just using them to hire mercenaries for your pathetic adventures? Even if you’re a generous fool, how could you possibly use them all? For the past ten years or so, I’ve been managing the family’s accounts. I’ve long suspected that you were secretly giving them to her, to this traitor who actively severed ties with the family.” The elder brother of the Starry Family seemed extremely angry as he said this, but then he laughed.

“I almost forgot,” he said, slapping his forehead, “I’m no longer in a position to criticize you, hahahaha.”

The man smiled and moved his arms again, as if the movement was quite pleasant.

“Look, I can now move my arms so freely,” he showed Lorigo.

Lorigo's lips turned pale: "What you've done makes me feel like a stranger... Why has the family become like this? Why have you become like this?"

The man laughed again, then roared, "Because of you, of course it's because of you! You and Van Diehl, you're both useless! I'm about to die, and Father is too old! And you, you are all incapable of leading Star City, incapable of leading the family."

"Do you know why my father and I have been associating with Twin Moon City? Do you know why we've made decisions all these years that you can't understand?" The man's face regained some color after his earlier roar. "Star City was also Twin Moon City's target a few years ago, but I did one small thing that made them give up: I invited them to our family's secret realm to see the Star City's light stones. We too are about to lose our light! My foolish brother! Losing our light is also our fate!"

“Under these circumstances, I don’t believe you can lead Star City. A cowardly ordinary man, a reckless and stubborn knight, this light stone can probably only shine on this land for a few more decades, maybe just a dozen or so. After my father and I die, you will face the same tragic fate!”

After his initial excitement, the man softened his voice: "If that's the case, why can't I save Star City? I can lead Star City into battle, I can turn the tide. Of course, as long as you sacrifice your lives to save me first, I can definitely do it. You're just ending your inevitable tragic fate a little earlier. I will live on with your expectations and beliefs. I can embark on the path of the extraordinary and go further, fulfilling my long-held regrets. And under my leadership, Star City can lose far fewer lives..."

Ruger looked at Lorigo beside him, whose eyes were wide open, contorted in an extremely grotesque expression. Ruger couldn't help but nudge him with his elbow, and the guy jerked his head around, his eyes blazing with fury that nearly splattered onto Ruger's face.

Lorig controlled himself to close his eyes, took a deep breath, and opened them: "Lord Laslot Star, you may not be as good as you think, and we are not as foolish as you think. The other underground cities are not so easy to conquer. You, who lie in bed all day, should have read through all the books and records collected by the family. The greatest casualties in the underground cities that lost their light came from deception and from the sudden loss of light."

"The nobles refused to relinquish what they had clung to for hundreds, even thousands of years, of empty illusions. Clinging to delusion, they made all sorts of insane decisions. The sudden arrival of the darkness plunged the entire underground region into chaos. Crops in the fields withered, the densely populated population could no longer be satisfied by hunting, the domesticated subterranean beasts could not obtain a stable food supply, trade collapsed, order crumbled, and the superhumans lost control in the darkness… In truth, if the nobles had simply let go and given themselves time to choose, the people of the underground city, the underground district, and the abyss district would naturally have found their own way… They are all very intelligent… not as foolish as you think…"

After speaking, Lorigo took another deep breath to calm his anger.

Snap! Crack!

Ruger clapped with a smile, the applause naturally being dedicated to the beloved Lord Lorigo.
