Chapter 327 The Icelandic Girl's Confession
Chapter 327 The Icelandic Girl's Confession (Seeking Monthly Tickets)
Dotonbori, Osaka, Japan.
On the brightly lit street, Gu Qiye and You Ruier walked side by side, with a row of warm orange lanterns hanging from the eaves of the shops on both sides.
Girls in kimonos, holding carp-shaped kites, laughed as they passed by. Looking up, the kites danced and swayed in the night breeze.
“The personnel allocation has been completed,” Yuriel suddenly said.
Gu Qiye shifted his gaze from the swaying kite and turned to look at her. The Icelandic girl was looking down at a tablet computer, the screen's glow making her ice-blue pupils shine.
"How will it be allocated?" he asked.
She said, "Ruri Urushihara first leaves a mark on each member, and then she will wait at the edge of the nameless island. If she observes that we are in danger, she will bring us back immediately."
"That's not hard to guess, after all, that's all she's good for."
"agree."
As Yuriel spoke casually, she flipped through the documents with her fingertips. "Then comes the task of clearing out the worker bees—Alexandra will handle the worker bees on the east side of the island; Tsukumo will be in charge of the worker bees on the west side; Oda Hideaki will be in charge of the worker bees on the south side; and Karina will be in charge of the worker bees on the north side. They will eliminate all the worker bees to prevent them from affecting the battle in the center of the hive."
Gu Qiye thought for a moment: "So, this time our mission is not only to eliminate the queen bee and the four queen bees, but also to kill all the ordinary worker bees on the island?"
“Yes.” Yuriel nodded. “The order from above is to leave no one alive. There are about 20,000 Light-Eating Bees on the island. After we deal with them, the four members mentioned above will go to the hive to support us.”
"I understand, that's quite a lot of work," Gu Qiye said. "Go on, please continue."
Yuriel said expressionlessly, "Next is the allocation of the four major bee lords—'Father of Puppet' will be responsible for defeating the Great Bee Lord 'Joe'; 'Garfield' and 'Fan Dongqing' will defeat the Second Bee Lord 'Guli'; and the Third Bee Lord 'Cameron' will be dealt with by 'Ke Qingzheng'."
"What about the Four Bee Marquises?"
"As for the four queen bees, 'Melvit,' we two will handle them," Yuriel continued. "After dealing with the four queen bees and the 20,000 worker bees on the island, the queen bee is isolated and helpless. We may be able to take her back to Osaka and leave her to the researchers."
"Understood." Gu Qiye nodded.
He felt like something was missing from the plan, and it took him a while to realize, "Where's Esther? Why isn't she doing anything?"
"'Two Hundred Years Old' is responsible for staying in Osaka, Japan, on standby in case of emergencies," Yuriel replied.
"I suspect she's just trying to slack off," Gu Qiye said irritably.
He looked up at the sky above the street, where rows of neon signs filled his vision.
Finally, he lowered his gaze and turned to look at the candied hawthorn stall on the street.
“I also suspect she’s trying to slack off,” Yuriel said calmly, looking up. “However, it’s still necessary to take precautions. We can’t underestimate the wisdom of the bee race.”
She paused for a moment: "If they really do attack Osaka and cause a lot of casualties, we will be severely punished—maybe the holiday will be canceled, and then you won't be able to come back to Lijing with me to see those children."
"I understand, I understand."
Gu Qiye spoke perfunctorily as he walked over and bought two skewers of candied hawthorns from the stall owner with Japanese yen coins.
"The mission will officially begin in 28 hours, at midnight on the 14th."
Yuriel followed beside him and continued, "So, our free time will last until noon on the 13th. After that, we will have to assemble and prepare for combat."
"Please, you sound like a robot."
As Gu Qiye spoke, he smiled slightly and handed her a string of candied hawthorns that he had bought.
Yuriel fell silent. For once, she furrowed her pale brows slightly, staring intently at the candied hawthorn.
"Shouldn't you be used to it by now?" she asked after a while.
"Do you talk to the children in the orphanage like that?"
"if not."
As Yuriel spoke, she took the string of candied hawthorns.
The two walked forward while eating candied hawthorns, their faces bathed in the warm light of the lanterns.
A moment later, Gu Qiye suddenly smiled.
He let out a long sigh, stopped by the canal, and gripped the railing with both arms. He looked up and gazed at the brightly lit tourist boats on the river.
Yuriel glanced at him, feeling somewhat bewildered. But she stopped and stood silently beside him, without saying a word.
The two watched the cruise ships on the canal, listening to the soft, soothing voices coming from them.
A girl on the riverbank accidentally let go of the kite string, and amidst her shouts, the large red carp-shaped kite wobbled and floated into the sky.
"Didn't you say the other day that you would take me to see the children at that orphanage after the mission was over?" Gu Qiye asked suddenly after a moment of silence.
"Correct."
Do you have photos of those children on your phone?
"Have."
"Could you let me take a look?"
Yuriel nodded silently and took her phone out of her coat pocket. She lowered her eyes, opened the photo album, flipped to a specific page, and then handed the phone to him.
Gu Qiye took the phone from her hand, lowered his head and looked at it silently. The screen showed the faces of children, and the light illuminated his pupils.
The Icelandic girl was silent for a moment, then leaned closer and looked down at the child's photo with him.
“That girl is ‘Qiaoqiao,’ the boy is ‘Li Yue,’ and the other child is of Italian descent…” she introduced the names of the boys and girls in the photo one by one.
"Yes, I've written down all their names. I'm free tonight, so I can wear the Blue Arc mask and record a video for them. I've participated in a lot of charity events before and often record these kinds of videos, even though it's for marketing my public image... But I've recorded so many that I'm quite experienced."
Gu Qiye rambled on, somewhat incoherently, her fingers no longer swiping the screen, her gaze fixed on a group photo in the album.
In the photo, Uriel stands among the children, who gently tug at her skirt. She is expressionless and motionless, like a robot.
In the sunlight, her eyes were unblinking, as blue as the sea.
Gu Qiye looked at the blank expression on the white-haired girl's face in the photo, a slight smile playing on his lips, and chuckled softly.
Yuriel lowered her head and thought for a moment, then asked in confusion, "Why do we need to record a video? Aren't you going to meet them directly with me?"
“Because they like Lan Hu, not Gu Qiye.” Gu Qiye turned to look at her. “Don’t you like Lan Hu too?”
Yuriel was taken aback.
"What if they like Gu Qiye?" She remained silent for a long time before asking softly.
"Why?" Gu Qiye asked, "They probably haven't even seen me before..." He was interrupted before he could finish speaking.
“Because the people I like, they will like too,” Yuriel said softly.
Gu Qiye was slightly taken aback; it was rare for her to interrupt him so forcefully. After a moment, he came to his senses and belatedly turned to look at her.
She was looking down, her snow-white hair obscuring her eyes, and the tips of her ears were slightly red.
The wind was howling tonight, blowing from the canal and ruffling their hair. Gu Qiye stared at her blankly for a long time, his ears turning slightly red. "What you just said... what did you mean..."
"Don't look at me like that," she whispered. "The robot... is breaking down."
Yuriel suddenly reached out and tugged at his sleeve.
Before Gu Qiye could say anything, she grabbed his sleeve and walked forward without looking back. The two of them stepped over a broken corner of the fence and walked down the riverbank step by step until they reached the river.
Gu Qiye was led away by her, staring blankly at her back.
The girl walked quickly, her steps light yet hurried, as if she were trying to hide something.
She arrived at the canal, but walked straight towards the water. Just as Gu Qiye thought she was going to drag him down with her, the water in front of them suddenly froze into a layer of ice.
Yuriel pulled him along, head down, as they slowly walked forward on the ice.
After a while, the ice beneath their feet stopped extending forward, and the two stopped in the center of the canal.
She stopped. All around her were brightly lit sightseeing boats, and the warm light and night breeze shone on her face and ruffled her hair.
"I'm not leaving...aren't you going to say anything?" she said softly, releasing Gu Qiye's sleeve.
Two lines of footprints were imprinted on the ice where they had just walked, as if they would extend to the ends of the earth. She slowly turned around and looked up at the bewildered Gu Qiye.
“Yu Rui’er.” After a long silence, Gu Qiye suddenly spoke.
"exist."
“Let’s talk about this again after this operation is over,” Gu Qiye said softly. “So, you have to survive.” As he spoke, he reached out and touched the top of her head, her white hair flowing like snow through his fingers.
After a long, long silence, Yuriel spoke softly.
"I don't know."
"What don't you understand?"
Was I rejected?
She slowly raised her head, her icy blue eyes shimmering and rippling.
"That's why I said you're a robot," Gu Qiye said softly, a slight smile playing on her lips.
By this time, people on the surrounding sightseeing boats had already spotted them. They were shouting and taking out their phones.
"Looks like we have to go. Otherwise, if passersby take pictures of us, we'll be punished when we get back," Gu Qiye said, turning her head to look around.
He looked directly into Yuriel's eyes, smiled at her, took her hand, bent down, and gently lifted her into his arms. Then, he transformed into a streak of black lightning, swiftly traversing the river's surface.
A moment later, the electric arc still lingered in the air, but the ice surface the two had walked on had broken, and their footprints had disappeared.
The bustling lights on both sides of the river illuminated the river surface.
At this moment, the shattered ice dust rises and falls in the shimmering light, swaying and drifting into the distance.
