Chapter 148 Interception Adjustment
After Su Wanqing and Lin Che left the laboratory, Lu Zhao's voice immediately came through the communicator.

"Su Wanqing, I've made some discoveries."

"What discovery?" Su Wanqing quickened her pace, trying to keep her distance from Lin Che. Their actions had definitely alerted the rebels.

“There was an anomaly in the rebels’ internal communications. I used the jamming equipment on the RV to successfully infiltrate the Spider’s communication frequency band.”

Lu Zhao's voice carried a hint of excitement, "I intercepted part of the information."

"What is the content?" Su Wanqing frowned, feeling that the situation was becoming increasingly complicated.

“The Spider seems to be planning an operation against Allen. The specifics are still being analyzed, but judging from the focus of the conversation, she seems to be preparing an assassination. The laboratory… was mentioned several times.” Lu Zhao said quickly, “This laboratory should not be the one we are in now.”

"Assassination?" Su Wanqing repeated in a low voice. There was indeed a conflict of interest between Allen and the Poison Spider.

"Continue listening and obtain as much information as possible."

Lu Zhao responded, and after a moment of silence, his voice became clearer.

His tone turned serious. "I've rearranged the signal sources and pinpointed the true location of the Fiend's core laboratory. The coordinates, along with a diagram of the laboratory's layout, have been sent to your communicator."

Su Wanqing turned on her communicator, and a red marker immediately appeared on the map, indicating a building hidden deep within the rebel camp.

"This location... is much more concealed than the ones we've seen before."

“There’s one more thing.” Lu Zhao’s voice turned low. “The communication also mentioned an experimental project related to the pendant sample, called ‘remote control.’ I don’t know the specifics yet, but I have a feeling… it’s very bad.”

Su Wanqing felt a surge of unease. Remote control? Pendant? The combination of these two words made her feel uneasy.

"Lu Zhao, you must strengthen your surveillance and find out the details of this 'remote control' experiment. From now on, all information about the pendant must be reported to me immediately."

“Understood,” Lu Zhao replied. “I will continue the data analysis in the RV.”

Meanwhile, Lin Che remained silent. He could sense that Lu Zhao hadn't fully revealed his thoughts, and it seemed that he knew far more about the pendant than Su Wanqing had imagined.

He glanced at the silent girl beside him. She was tightly clutching an object wrapped in cloth, as if protecting something.

Lu Zhao's voice rang out again, interrupting Lin Che's thoughts. "Su Wanqing, I've noticed a strange phenomenon. That girl... she seems to interact with Lin Che more frequently. She refuses to communicate with me, but she actively asks Lin Che about the status of the pendant."

Su Wanqing frowned even more, her gaze sweeping back and forth between Lin Che and the girl, a hint of suspicion rising in her heart.

The girl's identity remains a mystery, and her interest in the pendant seems to go beyond the scope of an ordinary survivor.

"Lin Che," Su Wanqing walked to Lin Che's side and asked in a low voice, "Have you asked her about the origin of her pendant?"

Lin Che hesitated for a moment before replying, "I asked her tentatively, but she gave a vague answer and avoided the topic."

Su Wanqing's eyes deepened. The pendant, the poisonous spider's assassination plan, and the girl's mysterious identity—these clues seemed unrelated, yet they vaguely pointed to a hidden conspiracy.

“Ms. Su,” the assistant suddenly said into the communicator, “the lab alarm has been deactivated, but the instrument data shows that the activity of the experimental samples is gradually recovering.”

Su Wanqing took a deep breath, forcibly suppressing her unease. She knew that now was not the time to dwell on these things; the primary task was to ensure the safety of the team.

"Lu Zhao, immediately provide me with safe routes around the rebel camp."

Lu Zhao responded and soon sent over a detailed route map.

Su Wanqing studied the map carefully. She needed to find a safe and hidden evacuation route to get everyone away from here.

Lu Zhao's voice came through the communicator again, tinged with worry.

“Su Wanqing, I’ve observed that the rebels are increasing their patrol frequency; they seem to have discovered our presence.”

"Act immediately, but be extremely careful," Su Wanqing said.

She turned her head and looked at the girl beside Lin Che. The girl's face was pale, and her eyes were filled with fear.

She held the item in her hands tightly, as if it contained the entirety of her life.

"Are you alright?" Lin Che asked softly.

The girl shook her head without speaking. Her gaze remained fixed on Lin Che, as if pleading for his help. "We must leave," Su Wanqing said, knowing they could no longer stay here.

Just as they were about to leave, the girl suddenly raised her head and said in a hollow voice, "It...it's back."

This statement stunned everyone. Su Wanqing frowned, not understanding what the girl was talking about.

“It? What’s back?” she asked.

The girl's expression became even more agitated; she clutched the item tightly in her hands, as if she wanted to hide it inside her body.

"It...it has always been there, it has always been there...protecting me."

Lin Che's brows furrowed as well; he could sense the fear and confusion in the girl's voice.

He knew that the girl's identity must be hiding some unknown secret.

"Let's go!" Su Wanqing ordered, not wanting to waste any more time.

Just as they were about to leave, the girl suddenly broke free from Lin Che's grasp.

She rushed to a corner of the room, clutched the items in her hands tightly to her chest, then collapsed to the floor and began to cry helplessly.

Lu Zhao's voice came through again, tinged with anxiety. "Su Wanqing, I've discovered that the rebels' surveillance system is scanning this area. They've found our trail and are closing in on us."

Su Wanqing's heart raced; she knew they had no time left.

She had to make a decision immediately, or they might be in dire straits.

"Su Wanqing, is our current location still safe?" Lu Zhao's voice came through the communicator, carrying a hint of barely perceptible tension.

"We're safe for now. The rebels are probably still searching for us and won't be chasing us immediately."

Su Wanqing replied, looking around. It was an abandoned warehouse that could barely shelter from the wind and rain and provided some defense.

The ventilation opening was small, and when Lin Che finally crawled out, his back was scraped. He pursed his lips and didn't make a sound.

The girl followed closely behind, her face pale, her hands unconsciously protecting the cloth bag in her arms.

"Let's check everyone's injuries first," Su Wanqing said, her gaze falling on the girl. "How are you?"

The girl shook her head and didn't say anything.

"Lu Zhao, report the situation."

"The rebels are still expanding their search area, and communications are heavily jammed. I can only receive intermittent messages. However, based on the snippets I've intercepted, the spiders seem very annoyed by our escape."

Lu Zhao's tone was heavy, "She ordered that we be arrested and brought to justice at all costs."

Su Wanqing frowned slightly. The poisonous spider was more cunning and dangerous than she had anticipated.

"Lin Che, how are you feeling? Is there any movement from the night?"

Lin Che remained silent for a moment before slowly saying, "I...I felt that when we were leaving just now, the pendant seemed to...fluctuate."

"Fluctuations?" Su Wanqing immediately asked, "What do you mean?"

"It's hard to describe; it's like a sudden surge of energy that's impacting my thoughts."

Lin Che lowered his head, gently rubbing his temples with his fingers. "I can feel Ye's alertness. He... seems to be warning me to stay away from the pendant."

Su Wanqing's heart tightened suddenly. Ye had always been highly vigilant about the pendant, and his warning now further confirmed its potential danger.

"What exactly is the warning?"

Lin Che shook his head. "It wasn't language, it was more like... an emotion. A strong, undeniable warning. It told me... not to come near."

The girl suddenly screamed, covered her ears with her hands, and curled up into a ball.
