Chapter 147 Resonance
The soldiers took the equipment box and immediately began to act according to the instructions.
The venomous spider's gaze never left Su Wanqing. "Miss Su, you seem very familiar with the equipment here."
"I only saw some materials in some abandoned laboratories."
Su Wanqing replied, "As a doctor, it is very important to understand some basic principles of instruments."
"Hmm." The venomous spider nodded, but its eyes were still full of doubt.
Just as he was about to press further, a rebel aide approached and whispered, "Sir, the situation is not good. We've received reports of suspicious individuals near the base. We may need to increase security."
The venomous spider's face darkened further. "Suspicious individuals? Who are they?"
“It’s not clear yet. But their operations are very secretive, and they seem to be looking for some target,” the assistant replied.
The venomous spider was silent for a moment, then said, "Don't act rashly. Continue to strengthen vigilance and find out their identities and purposes. If they dare to pose a threat to the base, arrest them immediately."
He looked up at Su Wanqing, a complex emotion flashing in his eyes.
"Ms. Su, thank you for your help. If your medicine works, I will consider further cooperation with you."
He then turned and left to deal with the situation outside the base.
Su Wanqing breathed a sigh of relief, knowing that she had temporarily shaken off the poisonous spider's suspicions.
She turned to look out the window and saw Lin Che standing in a guard position, looking tense.
Lin Che's spiritual energy fluctuations were stronger than usual, and he seemed to be trying hard to control the power within his body.
Su Wanqing noticed that Lin Che's fingers were trembling slightly, and beads of sweat were appearing on his forehead.
"Night..." Lin Che's voice was very soft, almost inaudible.
Suddenly, a barely perceptible fluctuation of consciousness came, and the voice of the night rang in Lin Che's mind.
"Work together, join me, and you will gain power beyond your imagination."
Lin Che clutched his head in anguish. "No... I won't agree to that!"
He gritted his teeth, struggling to resist the temptations of the night. His psychic energy surged wildly, distorting the surrounding air.
He felt he was about to collapse and that he could be completely controlled by the night at any moment.
Su Wanqing noticed Lin Che's unusual behavior and quickly went over to try to comfort him.
However, Lin Che seemed not to hear her voice at all; his gaze was vacant, and his face was filled with a pained expression.
"Lin Che, what's wrong?" Su Wanqing asked softly.
Lin Che suddenly raised his head, a glint of clarity flashing in his eyes. He shook his head and said, "It's nothing... I just feel a little dizzy."
Su Wanqing knew that Lin Che wasn't telling the truth. She understood that Ye was trying to control him, and was gradually succeeding.
She must find a solution to the problem as soon as possible, otherwise Lin Che may become a complete puppet of the night.
Su Wanqing put down the last virus sample and only breathed a sigh of relief after confirming that the temperature in the cryogenic chamber had returned to normal.
Just as she was about to wipe the sweat from her forehead, a low hum suddenly sounded in the laboratory.
She looked up and saw a data logger screen flashing red error codes, as if it were infected with a virus, constantly jumping around.
Immediately afterwards, another spectrometer exhibited the same problem, with the densely packed numbers on the screen becoming chaotic and disordered.
"What's going on?" Su Wanqing walked to the control panel, trying to diagnose the equipment malfunction.
She quickly entered the commands, but found that the system was unresponsive, as if it were being interfered with by some force.
"Ms. Su, the instrument has a large-scale data deviation and is automatically restarting." The assistant rushed over, looking somewhat pale.
Su Wanqing's heart tightened, and she vaguely sensed that something was wrong.
She glanced instinctively at the pendant on the lab table. At that moment, the pendant was emitting a faint glow, and tiny, flowing patterns could be faintly seen on its surface.
Light, patterns, vibrations. Not only that, she also sensed an indescribable energy fluctuation spreading outwards from the pendant. "Stop all experiments!" Su Wanqing immediately ordered, "Isolate this area immediately!"
Just as she gave the order, a sharp alarm suddenly sounded in the laboratory.
She turned around and saw rows of experimental samples in incubators moving toward the pendant in a strange way.
The low-level zombie viruses that should have been quietly growing in the petri dish now seemed to have come to life, twisting their bodies and trying to get closer to the pendant.
"Activate the protective shield!" Su Wanqing shouted.
A semi-transparent blue barrier immediately rose in the laboratory, separating the pendant from the experimental samples.
Even so, the protective glass continued to emit a piercing sound, as if it could be breached at any moment.
"This...how is this possible?" The assistant stared in horror at everything before him, his voice trembling.
Su Wanqing frowned; she knew this was far more than a simple equipment malfunction.
The impact of the pendant was far greater than she had imagined.
"Mr. Poison Spider should be back soon, we must clean this place up as quickly as possible."
"Su Wanqing said in a low voice. She quickly walked to the pendant and carefully put it back into the lead box she had prepared beforehand.
After the lid of the lead box was closed, the vibrations and alarms in the laboratory noticeably decreased, but the experimental samples continued to surge and try to break through the barrier.
"Clear the records, delete all related data, and be careful to do so discreetly."
Su Wanqing quickly cleaned up any traces of her actions, trying her best not to leave any suspicious evidence.
She knew that if the venomous spider discovered that something was wrong here, she would likely be in trouble.
"Miss Su, Lin Che has been waiting outside," the assistant reported.
"Let him in," Su Wanqing said. "Tell him to prepare to evacuate immediately."
A few minutes later, Lin Che walked in, a hint of doubt on his face.
He vaguely sensed a strange energy fluctuation permeating the laboratory, which made him feel somewhat uneasy.
"Lin Che, the situation is urgent, we must leave here immediately."
Su Wanqing quickly explained the situation to him, "I suspect there's something wrong with the pendant; it's causing some uncontrollable reactions."
Upon hearing this, Lin Che's expression turned serious. "Night...can he sense it?" he asked softly.
Su Wanqing didn't answer, she just nodded. She knew there must be some connection between the night and the pendant, otherwise the pendant wouldn't have reacted so violently all of a sudden.
"Where is Lu Zhao?" Su Wanqing asked.
"We're already on guard around the perimeter, ready to provide cover at any time," Lin Che replied.
“Okay, let’s go,” Su Wanqing said, taking the lead towards the laboratory exit.
Just as they were about to leave, Xiao Ran's voice came through the communicator.
"Su Wanqing, I've found something interesting here."
"What is it?" Su Wanqing asked.
"The rebel group left behind some equipment with an old-fashioned special forces identification code on it."
Xiao Ran said, "The presence of this code here likely indicates a split within the rebels."
Su Wanqing's heart skipped a beat. The split within the rebel army was undoubtedly good news for them.
But she doesn't have time to investigate further; she must ensure her own safety first.
"Received, we will investigate as soon as possible," Su Wanqing said. "Xiao Ran, be careful."
She quickened her pace and left the laboratory with Lin Che.
