Chapter 148 Ascending Mount Sumeru
Chapter 148 Ascending Mount Sumeru
Lin Yu took a deep breath, composed himself, clasped his hands together, and bowed to the old monk in front of him. He said sincerely, "Master, I am Lin Yu, the Holy Son of Yao Guang Holy Land. I have long heard of the great name of the Bodhisattva Realm in the Western Desert. I have come here to seek enlightenment and hope that you will not hesitate to give me your guidance."
The old monk's eyes were sharp as torches. He carefully looked Lin Yu up and down, and then a kind and gentle smile appeared on his face. He said, "Amitabha, the name of the Holy Son of Yaoguang has long been spread throughout the four directions."
"Since you have come all this way despite the hardships, then come with me to Mount Sumeru for a visit." With that, the old monk turned and slowly led the way, and Lin Yu quickly followed behind.
"Hundreds of thousands of years ago, the western desert was a desolate landscape with golden sands stretching as far as the eye could see, sparse vegetation, and few human footprints."
As the old monk walked, he spoke slowly and deliberately, “Fortunately, Buddha is compassionate and, after attaining the Great Dao, he measured every inch of the Western Desert with his own two feet.”
Wherever it went, Bodhi saplings sprouted from the soil, and lotus flowers bloomed gracefully, ultimately transforming this barren and desolate land into the peaceful and tranquil Buddhist paradise it is today.
Upon hearing this, Lin Yu couldn't help but exclaim, "Amitabha Buddha is truly a being of divine power, with boundless compassion."
The two continued on their way, and before long, a magnificent sacred mountain suddenly appeared before them.
Even with eyes closed, one can clearly feel the overwhelming and magnificent aura emanating from it, as if an invisible force is drawing one's very soul in. Indeed, this is the renowned Buddhist holy site—Mount Sumeru.
“Since the Holy Son has come to travel in the Western Desert, why not start from this Ashoka Plateau, pass by Ashoka Lake, and then head to Mount Sumeru? What do you think?” the old monk turned and asked.
"Everything is up to the master's arrangement," Lin Yu replied humbly.
Lin Yu followed the old monk, and the closer they got to Mount Sumeru, the more he could feel the vast, ocean-like power of Buddhism. Countless golden Sanskrit characters seemed to flow in the air, and the faint sound of chanting could be heard in his ears.
"Is this the sensation of the Bodhisattva realm?" Lin Yu was secretly surprised. He felt that the circulation of spiritual energy in his body had become much smoother, and the bottlenecks he had encountered in his cultivation seemed to be loosening.
The old monk seemed to notice his surprise and smiled, "Holy Son, have you gained some insight? The connection to the Bodhisattva realm is indeed much stronger near Mount Sumeru. In the Great Thunderclap Temple, even mortals can enter the Bodhisattva realm."
Lin Yu was even more shocked upon hearing this. He looked up and saw Mount Sumeru towering into the clouds, its entire body gleaming with golden light. Countless streams of faith transformed into rivers of light, enveloping the mountain range in a sacred glow.
Mount Sumeru is the oldest Buddhist holy site in all the heavens and myriad worlds. Its name carries endless Buddhist legends, and its mystical nature has been passed down through the ages in the vast starry sky.
Standing before the mountain, a sense of awe arises spontaneously. This mountain is majestic and towering, piercing the sky. Its massive size seems capable of filling the four seas, and its magnificent appearance transcends time.
Buddhist scriptures record that it is 84,000 yojanas high, with one yojana being 13,000 meters, making its height extraordinary. It can be considered the foremost mountain range in the Big Dipper constellation, vast and boundless, majestic and awe-inspiring.
This mountain is the highest sacred site of Buddhism, gathering boundless faith from the nine heavens and ten earths, forging the Buddha's immortality in the mortal world.
Mount Sumeru, as the main mountain, is surrounded by peaks, with cascading waterfalls and the sound of chanting, which further accentuate its majestic grandeur. At its foot lies a vast expanse of water, which, when viewed up close, resembles a boundless ocean.
"This must be the Eight Treasures Pond."
Countless herders, pilgrims, and even Buddhists who have walked to this place, after their excited worship of Mount Sumeru, bow their heads with utmost devotion and drink from the pool. According to Buddhist scriptures, there is an Eight-Jeweled Pool in the Western Paradise, which was created by Amitabha Buddha's great vow. The water in the pool is of extraordinary mystery, possessing eight superlative qualities: clear and pure, cool and pleasant, sweet and delicious, soft and gentle, nourishing all things, calming the mind and body, quenching thirst and hunger, and nourishing all senses; hence, it is also known as the Eight-Jeweled Merit Pool.
Countless weary and ragged believers came to the pool and devoutly drank the water. In an instant, their fatigue vanished, their wounds healed, and they were reborn. This water not only cleanses impurities and purifies the body, but also purifies the mind and nourishes the six senses, keeping people away from illness and suffering. It can be called a sacred object in the world.
Those pilgrims who drank this water were enveloped in radiance, as if cast in gold, and their Buddha-nature greatly increased. Among them, those with exceptional talent even achieved sudden enlightenment on the spot and broke through their limitations instantly.
A golden rainbow descended from the sky, enveloping him. Chanting Buddhist scriptures filled the air, and celestial flowers rained down. His figure gradually blurred within the Buddhist light, transforming into specks of golden light that ascended straight to Mount Sumeru along the rainbow bridge.
The old monk stood by the pond, his wide sleeves fluttering gently in the breeze. He turned to Lin Yu, clasped his hands in prayer, and said, "Holy Son, you have come from afar. Why not drink this Eight Treasures Merit Water to cleanse your worldly heart?"
Upon hearing this, Lin Yu slowly walked towards the edge of the pool. The pool water was crystal clear, with a faint golden glow on the surface, and countless tiny swastika symbols could be vaguely seen flowing in the water. He bent down and scooped up some water, and immediately felt a cool sensation in his palm.
"This water..." Lin Yu was about to speak when he suddenly felt the pool water in his hand transform into eight-colored streams of light, dancing in his palm.
The old monk explained with a smile, "The Eight Treasures Water of Merit manifested due to a karmic connection; the Holy Son has a profound affinity with Buddhism, hence the appearance of the Eight Treasures."
Lin Yu drank the pool water in one gulp, and immediately felt a warm current spread from his throat. In an instant, the spiritual power within his body surged like a river, and the previously obscure and difficult-to-understand cultivation techniques suddenly became clear. He seemed to hear chanting in his sea of consciousness, and a faint golden light emanated from between his brows.
Seeing this, the old monk's eyes flashed with a sharp light: "Excellent! The Holy Son is indeed destined to be with Buddha."
Just then, the pond water stirred without wind, rippling with golden lotus blossoms. Lin Yu's aura intensified, and a faint, blurry image of a Bodhisattva could be seen behind him. Believers in the distance stopped, their faces filled with awe and admiration.
"Would the Holy Son be willing to accompany this old monk to the Great Thunderclap Temple for a visit?" The old monk pointed to the summit of Mount Sumeru. "The influence of the Bodhisattva realm there is a hundred times stronger than here."
The main mountain stands firmly in the middle of the clear, transparent sea, majestic and imposing beyond compare. Magnificent and solemn temples can be vaguely seen scattered on the mountain, while the mysterious Great Thunder Temple is hidden on the summit, 84,000 yojanas above the ground, difficult to see even with the divine eye, as it is obscured by the mountain.
Mount Sumeru was vast and boundless, and Lin Yu could clearly sense a powerful force, like a boundless ocean, slowly flowing across the mountain.
The entire mountain radiates a soft light, surrounded by peaceful and pure spiritual energy, its brilliance rising and dispersing, making it no longer an ordinary place, but a sacred and inviolable celestial realm.
Layers of silvery light rose like clouds and mist, and pale golden radiance flowed like water. This was the purest power of faith, so rich and intense that it could not be dissolved, blessing the mountain.
This power is vast and boundless, awe-inspiring and immeasurable. Nourished by it, the mountain has long been divine, every blade of grass and every tree possesses a Buddha-like nature, thoroughly nourished by its radiance.
Whether monks or ordinary people, those who regularly bask in the power of this profound faith will surely enjoy longevity. The Buddhist faith flows like a gentle stream, with believers offering devout sacrifices year after year, its influence mild and enduring. In return, Buddhism often bestows blessings upon its followers, granting them the elimination of all ailments, abundant energy, and longevity.
This is the biggest difference between Amitabha Buddha and the Supreme Being of the Forbidden Zone. He views all beings as equal, and he is interdependent with them, giving back to them in return. This has remained unchanged for more than 300,000 years.
Over hundreds of thousands of years, the collective power of Buddhist devotees throughout the universe has converged, accumulated, and created this incredible spectacle. Deep within the universe, in many ancient lands with life forms, the lineage of Amitabha Buddha resides.
The boundless power of faith traversed the void, flowing continuously towards Mount Sumeru. In comparison, the otherworldly realm paled in comparison; Mount Sumeru was truly a divine sea formed from the convergence of faith.
