Conquer Europe from the West
Chapter 8 "Laser" Communications
Chapter 8 "Laser" Communications
Because this was a very standard Imperial language, Ryan once suspected that it was one of his own people who said they wanted to surrender.
But this is obviously impossible.
The two NCOs were holding their grenades, and Brinkman was leaning against the right side of the door, all of them in front of Ryan.
"Then throw out all your guns!"
Ryan immediately shouted at the door that was already full of bullet holes.
Within two seconds, he heard three sounds of things being thrown to the ground in the room.
He was not a serious soldier, but he recognized the sound of a pistol falling to the ground.
Almost the moment the sound was heard, McIver kicked open the door and rushed into the room grabbing a grenade.
The Farlanes inside screamed heart-wrenchingly when they saw what he did.
Another sergeant rushed in with a pistol in hand, pointed at the two leading officers, and kicked several pistols on the ground out of the room as quickly as possible.
Only then did Ryan dare to bring Brinkman into the room.
He saw that the previous one - should be the Farlan officer who shouted Non before - was shot in the leg. A female non-commissioned officer was holding his leg, obviously trying to stop the bleeding.
But Lieutenant Brinkman kicked the female non-commissioned officer away and shot the officer who was shot in the leg in the head.
In an instant, everyone in the room stopped breathing.
Several other Farlanes who were dressed in uniforms that looked like officers or non-commissioned officers stared at Ryan and Brinkman intently. The two of them also stared at the Farlanes who were sitting on the ground.
Ryan was a little hesitant, but the gunshots coming from downstairs immediately dispelled his concerns.
The distinctive sound of the Luger gun and the sound of the toggle mechanism echoed everywhere, taking away the consciousness of all the Farlan people.
Ryan quickly stuffed the last few bullets from his pouch into the magazine. He then used the system to check the location of the underground passage entrance, then asked the men rummaging through the boxes, "Where's the radio?"
"Here, sir."
McIver's voice sounded exhausted: "That's it."
When Ryan heard this, he looked over and found that Brinkman was already standing in front of two green instruments.
"what happened?"
He opened his mouth to ask, but immediately shut up and turned to look at the door.
"damn it."
Ryan squeezed out a few words from his throat.
The random shooting he had just done sent a chill through the two telegraph machines: "Is there any hope?"
"Yes." McIver said, "There's another one over there."
"Then use it!" Ryan pushed away McIver who was squeezed next to him and said, "Give it to me."
The sergeant immediately placed a device that was obviously much smaller on the ground in front of him.
Ryan didn't understand why he had to be so cautious, but he could tell that the device looked a little different.
It was a little too small, only as big as a head.
There was also no battery box or sending operator that a telegraph should have.
Ryan could only see a palm-sized concave red glass piece on the top, and nothing else.
"Are you sure you want to use this, sir?"
The non-commissioned officer who came over with the telegraph sounded very hesitant, which made Ryan even more confused.
"How to say?"
As soon as he opened his mouth, he regretted it.
This thing must be something very important, so everyone from non-commissioned officers to officers is qualified to know about it.
I am a person who traveled through time and space and I am unfamiliar with the place. If I continue like this, I will be exposed sooner or later.
Ryan took a deep breath and turned to look at Brinkman. The female lieutenant was reaching into her collar and hesitantly pulling off the jeweled necklace.
She glanced at the telegraph in front of her, then at Ryan: "If we use this, there's no turning back."
Ryan could sense the seriousness in her tone, which made him feel a little nervous.
Several more gunshots were heard downstairs.
It was the sound of the Hotchkiss machine gun.
This means that the enemy has approached within visual range.
"But there's no way now, is there?" Ryan said immediately.
"If we don't send this message now, even if we manage to escape, we'll only end up being caught by those Farlanes."
"you're right."
Lieutenant Brinkman glanced at him and nodded.
Then she placed her pendant on the concave red glass.
For an instant.
Ryan felt as if both of his eyes were offline.
The red light that shot up into the sky instantly filled the entire room, and then gathered into an almost solid beam of light, piercing through the roof and shooting straight into the sky.
At the same time, Lieutenant Brinkman immediately spoke out the message that was originally intended to be sent by telegraph - the Farlans were gradually occupying all border outposts in the southern war zone. Their goal was to break through the southern border with the empire and advance further inland.
Suddenly, Ryan felt as if he remembered something.
Lieutenant Brinkman's message will be contained within the beam of light. Anyone who can visually confirm it can use a decoding device to analyze it and obtain this crucial voice message.
The beam of light will remain in the sky for fifteen minutes, and can be accurately decoded by decoding equipment up to two hundred kilometers away.
Isn't this just a giant lighthouse?
He covered his eyes and walked out of the room with the help of the sergeant.
thought.
It's really over now.
This beam of light will last for at least fifteen minutes, and such a conspicuous thing is enough to attract the attention of all the surrounding Farlan troops to their position.
No wonder that guy McIver and Brinkman hesitated.
If it were Ryan, he would definitely not consider this as a viable option.
But it's too late to say that now.
Outside the building.
The beam of light that shot up into the sky was even brighter than the sun. Its light, comparable to a flash bomb, made the Farlan soldiers who wanted to launch an attack close their eyes in pain.
Wolf and his men, who had formed a makeshift machine gun squad, were not much better off, but they quickly resumed shooting with the advantage of having the light beam behind them.
The sound of machine guns rang out again, but this time there was no sound of Farlan gunfire.
They certainly won't be able to hold on for long.
Ryan thought, but now is the last chance to evacuate.
The Farlans lost their sight due to the strong light. If they didn't leave, they would have to face the enemy troops on full alert.
Ryan didn't know whether this group of people would chase him to death, but judging from the scooters they brought, this group of people had obviously made all the necessary preparations before launching the attack.
"Let them retreat to the command post immediately!" he roared. Even after he finally regained his vision, everything he saw was stained with a layer of red light.
"McQuay, get everyone outside in. There's an exit underground in the command post, just under the second floor of the west corridor!"
"Take the second lieutenant first, that's an order!"
