Chapter 334 Aftermath
Wu Chen had a dream.

He dreamt that he chose another path—no, not at the fork in Castel, but in a battle even earlier.

He dreamt that he wasn't deeply involved in the divine and demonic struggle within Windhelm. He dreamt that his exploration stopped at probing Ramaya's dreams, merely gaining an understanding but not delving deeper.

Fate then took a completely different turn—he escaped, watching the now-unrecognizable Mil soar into the sky. When he left the still-intact Windhelm, it seemed everyone except him had forgotten Hera Morley's existence. Unfis became a part-time mentor, recommending him for the academy, while Hera's ally, Miss China, inexplicably became his bodyguard and friend.

The demon god failed; the demon god could never have succeeded in the first place.

The gate between the two worlds was destroyed by Morag Bal's reckless actions, and he was unable to come into contact with the remains of Miracis, thus permanently losing the void route to Westeros.

The world didn't become better, but it didn't become worse either. And those who still remembered Hera, in their pursuit of her, unconsciously overlapped with the path Hera was supposed to take.

He entered the excavated Satar ruins on her behalf and made contact with the Sayik Order on her behalf.

He became a rising star and a prominent figure in the academy. He witnessed the Eye of Magnus go out of control, and he embarked on the journey to find the Staff of Magnus and fight against the ancient dragon priest Morroc.

It was a thrilling adventure.

It was a battle that nearly cost them their lives.

In the end, however, he accomplished this impossible feat with his newly made friends—the Academy was preserved, the Eye of Magnus was appeased, Morroc was defeated, and the title of Chief Wizard was passed to him.

The hundred-day promise has been fulfilled. He continues his search for Hera's whereabouts—his involvement in vampire-related investigations naturally draws him into the main storyline of Dawnguard. And when he meets Serana and touches Auriel's sacred bow, Morag Baal, who was originally not supposed to participate, also joins the vampire war.

He had won. Wielding the divine weapon, he had ended the vampire prophecy and even pursued Morag Bal into the realm of Annihilation Cold Harbor—the Tyrannical King was once again severely wounded by him, and deep within the prison of Cold Harbor, Mil's soul was successfully saved by him.

The dragon priest thus gained a dragon, and the secret war in Windhelm was exposed before his eyes. Afterwards, he embarked on a campaign to Thorsham, met with the Lord of Knowledge, Mora Hemayus, and reached an agreement. In exchange for defeating Miraak and eliminating this thorn in Mora's side, he would win Hera Mori's freedom.

Thus began an epic war. Inheriting Valak's legacy and will, as the new generation's 'Chief Dragon Priest,' he once again brought down the mighty Miraak. At the war's end, Mora fulfilled His promise. The beautiful, intelligent witch, whom he considered his ideal woman, gained her freedom, yet in a sense, became his possession.

That's not a bad path.

The gains from that path were not much less than what he had now—the only difference being that his source magic had never achieved much. His ultimate victory relied on the superposition of artifacts from different worlds, allowing him to defeat one seemingly invincible opponent after another in a surprising way. And after the Thorsom expedition ended, he finally had some free time to relax and enjoy himself.

I have many ties, many friends, a high status, and a stable future.

By day, she enjoys banquet after banquet, with all sorts of treasures delivered to her doorstep. By night, she revels in a variety of pleasures. Serana, Qina, Mil, Hera, and countless other confidantes are all subdued by her in night battles, willing to do anything, no matter how shameful, with just a glance from her. And even when the Hearthfire Moon arrives in 4E201, and the Eater of Worlds descends upon Helgen, she is confident she can retreat calmly and fight again in the future.

And this is the end of the dream.

In the instant that dark shadow fell upon the earth, another version of himself, crowned in the embrace of tenderness, turned his gaze toward him.

"Do you regret not taking the more appropriate path?"

"Having endured more hardship, fighting alone, the ultimate height and gains are far less than choosing to let go at the right time?" The End of the Dream raised a glass to him, a weighty invitation uttered immediately. An invisible force surrounded it, corroborating anything it said next.

"No need to answer. I know you're a proud guy. You'd rather suffer than admit you're wrong. But..."

It spread its hands, displaying its surroundings to Wu Chen. Within the magnificent temple of knowledge, beautiful and aloof, peerless and independent women gazed with admiration. Whether one wielded power over the world or rested in the lap of a beauty, it was all within easy reach.

"Would you be interested in experiencing this kind of life?"

Its invitation was very sincere.

It stretched out its hand towards Wu Chen—if he nodded, everything it said would become reality. So…

“No,” Wu Chen replied.

--"Why?"

There was no mockery, no anger. The question contained only pure doubt.

"You reap what you sow. That is my law, even if it only applies to me." Wu Chen gazed at the end of his dream and said calmly. "Therefore, I will not allow anything to be worthy of being me. Even if you are indeed me in some sense."

At the end of the dream, a subtle smile appeared.

The next moment, the humanoid figure resembling Wu Chen and everything around it collapsed and disintegrated, turning into a pure silver liquid surge.

It was him, the magic surging within his body, his heart, and the depths of his soul. And if he agreed, he would be forever trapped in a dreamlike illusion, his body controlled by the magic. But thankfully, that fate would never be his.

Wu Chen opened his eyes.

He lay on his large bed, surrounded by exhausted yet content girls. Their bodies were pressed close together, their breaths mingling. Even combined, their fighting strength wasn't half that of Hera alone.

However, everything else—the walls, beams, floors, even the air—had already been unknowingly stained with pure silver. If it went any further, perhaps even they themselves would be swallowed up by this pure silver.

Wu Chen shook his head.

The next moment, all the silver faded away, and everything that had been eroded was restored and reshaped.

Without warning, Wu Chen's body moved from the bed to the palace gate.

"What is this?" He looked at his hands.

"Heart demon?"
