Chapter 1 1 Friend
Chapter 1: A Friend
"I must be crazy."
Wu Chen felt that he might really be crazy.
Since last week, Wu Chen has been feeling like a cell phone is ringing in his head. He's been to the hospital and consulted a psychiatrist. All he's gotten are a bunch of soothing herbal remedies and capsules, along with some bland advice like "maintain a regular sleep schedule and relax a bit."
Thank goodness, he slept well. The ringing of the phone in his head never stopped him from falling asleep. It was just that whenever he fell asleep, he would always dream about receiving the phone call.
However, he has not yet been able to successfully receive a call.
I just can't get it.
In his dream, he could only hear the ringing of his cell phone, but he had no way of finding it. He tossed and turned, searched through boxes and drawers, but couldn't find it. And the ringing continued until his biological clock woke him naturally.
"You can't find your phone in a dream," a friend who's read several psychology books told me. "That's because you can't dream about things you haven't touched before. And your phone is full of new information. There's not enough material to create a dream, so you can't find your phone in a dream no matter what. Even if you do, you can't use it."
"But what if I find it someday?" Wu Chen asked angrily. "Don't be so absolute about everything, okay?"
"Then maybe your illness will be cured." The friend didn't get angry, just waved his hand. "Of course, it's possible. When you find your phone, you'll no longer be dreaming."
"It's not a dream? What else could it be? Could it be that my cheat code has been awakened and the cheat has arrived?"
"It's hard to say." My friend shrugged.
"I suspect you've read too many novels, and I have evidence."
"Haha." The friend waved his hand and didn't respond. "You can think whatever you want. But, do you want to think back? Before you got into trouble, did you do anything strange, anything related to your phone?"
The conversation ends here.
Wu Chen thought about it carefully. It seemed like he had actually done something before he heard the phone ring for the first time... Yes, he seemed to be sitting down, and subconsciously raised his hand to grab something flying towards him. It did feel a bit like a phone, but when he pulled his hand back, it was clean, without even a speck of dust.
That must have been when the illness started.
Wu Chen covered his head, feeling as if his head was ringing again - he closed his eyes and took a deep breath. He could no longer tell whether his phone was really ringing in his head or if he just felt that it was ringing. Until...
"Dear passengers, our plane is about to take off. Please switch your mobile phones, tablets, and other electronic devices to airplane mode or turn them off..."
The sweet voice of the flight attendant rang out over the radio. Wu Chen was currently on an international flight to Sakurajima. He was indeed just a freshly minted university student, but he was the type of person who believed that if he fed himself, the whole family would be well fed. So, even if he had little money in his pocket, he could always take a spontaneous trip.
Now, he is planning to follow the doctor's advice and go to a famous overseas island with a relatively good tourism industry and few social connections to relax and unwind.
"Hope everything goes well." He muttered softly, turning on the phone he was carrying, then turning it off. He waited until the screen was completely black before putting it in his pocket.
The passengers in the same row glanced at him, but didn't pay much attention, just as he didn't care about the other person's gender or age.
It was just a chance encounter, so why bother? The plane shook briefly, then took off. The vibration and negative pressure caused Wu Chen's eardrums to sting slightly. At least at this moment, he regretted not booking a more comfortable flight.
Of course, regret only lasted a moment. He had become independent early on and knew how hard it was to make money.
only……
"Wow—" From the front and back seats, the cries of a child and a baby, followed by the comforting voices of their parents, rang out. Wu Chen's mouth twitched as he pulled out earplugs and an eye mask from his pocket. "Out of hearing, out of mind."
He felt his cell phone ringing again.
Before the darkness thick enough to envelop him, a question emerged in his mind.
Speaking of which, that friend who was talking to me...
Who is coming?
........................
"Ring, ring, ring—"
Wu Chen opened his eyes.
He was still sitting in his seat, still on the plane. A ringing sounded in his ears, but all around him was silence.
He is the only one here.
He is alone.
The previously bustling, bustling airplane cabin was now as quiet as a prison cell. Only the cheap air conditioning from the budget airliner was blasting away. The hum of machines, a low, trembling sound, and a chilly mist that brushed against my ankles were heard.
Again.
Wu Chen subconsciously reached into his pocket and took out his cell phone - the screen was still pitch black, and there was no response when he pressed the power button.
"Is this ever going to end?" Wu Chen sighed. He could find his phone, but he could never find the one that kept vibrating. He really wanted to answer the call, or at least hang up.
"Are you looking for this?" Something was placed in his hand.
It was a cell phone, a vibrating one with a row of zeros on the missed call display. He took it subconsciously, pressed the answer button, and put it to his ear...
"Thanks……"
Wu Chen blinked.
The friend whose name he couldn't remember and whose appearance he couldn't recognize sat next to him and handed him his cell phone.
He turned his head to glance at the other person - he couldn't see anything, the only information he could form in his mind was 'this is a friend'.
"So... I'm crazy?"
"It's hard to say," the friend replied. His voice was hard to discern, and it was unclear whether he was a man or a woman. "But you could try to find a mathematical formula and calculate it. If you can prove it, you should know the answer."
Wu Chen closed his eyes.
two seconds.
"So you are a cheat?" He rubbed his temple.
"You could call it a chance encounter," the friend replied. "You caught me, so you're entitled to use me. This is your good fortune."
"I have a small family, and I don't generally believe in free lunches."
"It's not free." The friend waved his hand. "One day, you will make a copy of everything you've learned from me. Then, throw me in any direction you want. Of course, if you die before then, all your efforts will be wiped out." "When exactly?"
"When you're able to throw me out," my friend replied simply. "You'll know when you can."
Wu Chen looked at the object in his hand—it was an ordinary black smartphone with no logo or decoration. He thought he could try throwing it away right now. But...
"What can you do?" Wu Chen asked.
"What do you want?" the friend asked.
"You mean, you can do anything?"
"Theoretically yes."
"Actually?"
"For everything in the current universe, you have to pay an equivalent amount for what you want. Of course, we also support the "pay later" option. Naturally, the number of times is limited. Right now, there's only one, and the price will be higher than regular purchases."
"for example?"
"If you want to resurrect a man or woman who has been dead for ten years, that person will appear before you immediately, but you must kill at least nine hundred and ninety-nine different people who are closely related to that person, such as relatives, friends, or at least acquaintances, within ten hours. Use their blood, bone marrow, and brain tissue to draw specific ritual patterns in specific places and ensure that these patterns are not damaged within ninety-nine minutes. Because this is the only way you can use to resurrect a dead person now."
Wu Chen lowered his head and calculated.
“What if I can’t make it on time?”
"You have to pay a certain price for service recovery. For now, it's a price that will make you feel that death is a very pleasant relief."
"You make me feel that you are not a good person." Wu Chen rubbed his forehead. He felt that he might need to seriously consider handing it over to the country.
There seemed to be laughter nearby. For a moment, the friend seemed to transform into a golden ball of light.
friend.
Since we are friends, we should be able to bargain.
"Are there no discounts? Like a newbie gift pack or something?"
"Of course."
Suddenly, a flash of light flashed in his eyes, and an object with a black grip, a silver-white gun body, and a thick and slender barrel silently appeared in front of Wu Chen. Weapons with such specifications are very common in the game.
Desert Eagle - the representative of pretentiousness and ostentation, it is specially designed for hunting wild beasts and small monsters. Because its power is excessive when it is used against people, and the ammunition capacity is too small, it is not very friendly to beginners.
Wu Chen held it—it was very heavy and was indeed solid metal, not model plastic.
"Rare Item: Infinite Desert Eagle. A gun that doesn't require reloading. You'll be able to use it soon."
Wu Chen's eyes twitched.
And the next moment, his vision was filled with light.
........................
"I'm dreaming again."
Wu Chen took off his blindfold. He returned to the cabin, and the plane was already sailing above the sea of clouds. The noisy children had quieted down, and many passengers were eating in their seats or taking a nap.
Everything seemed fake, yet everything in the dream was so clear that every detail could be recalled carefully. The ringing ringing in my head had died down without me noticing. And my phone, too—
Wu Chen's hand, reaching into his pocket, trembled. There was more than just a cell phone in his windbreaker pocket. He shifted his gaze slightly, and the silvery corner of the overly thick gun was exposed due to the depth of his pocket.
It's real iron, not plastic.
He was on an international flight and had to go through security when he got off the plane.
Wu Chen pursed his lips. Reason told him that his only option now was to hand the cheat over to the nation before the plane even landed. Otherwise, he'd either be shot on the spot or end up with a three-year guarantee of a sewing machine.
This 'friend' seems a little petty.
So……
"Ah!!!!" A scream came from the side, not far away.
Half of Wu Chen's body trembled.
It’s over.
I don't know how it was discovered and confirmed, but it's over.
Thinking calmly, the best thing to do next is to raise your hands and hold your head. However, before he could do that, he heard a loud bang!
"Ka-la--!"
That was a thunderbolt.
The pure white sea of clouds outside the window suddenly turned gray and black, and the plane shook violently amid the screams of the people. However, before the flight attendants could comfort the passengers by saying that it was just high-altitude air currents, a series of screams broke out from the crowd.
"what is that!?"
"Monster! There's a monster outside the window!"
"It's a dragon!"
A shadowy figure flashed by, then suddenly widened in distance. It was a horned, winged giant. Its golden-red, serpentine dragon eyes swished across the cabin, sending a chill down the spines of every living creature, a chill that penetrated to the bones.
It's a dragon.
A dragon with the characteristics of a Western dragon, as if it had appeared in a game or setting collection.
It's right here, and it's moving at speeds parallel to or even faster than high-altitude passenger planes.
Wu Chen subconsciously lowered his head and glanced at the strange object he held in his hand. The words "friend" were still ringing in his ears.
You'll be able to use it soon
- What do you mean? I want to use this little water gun to shoot a dragon!?
