Chapter 1106

Late at night, the envoy piloted his aircraft to the top of an unnamed mountain in the Alps, the meeting place he had arranged with his collaborators.

Of course, the envoy did not come alone. Although the Zerg of Reach have a cooperative relationship with the other party, no one can guarantee that the cooperator does not have any ulterior motives.

He, this alien, also understood the principle that those who are not of our kind will surely have different hearts. Their cooperative relationship was nothing more than mutual exploitation.

For his own safety, the envoy specifically brought along one of the two scarab warriors in the advance team, Green Scarab.

As the aircraft descended, just before it touched the mountain peak, a gap appeared on the side of the peak. Upon seeing this, the envoy maneuvered the aircraft towards the gap.

After bringing the aircraft to a steady stop on the tarmac, the special envoy had already spotted his collaborator—Ninja Master Lei Xiaogu—before even stepping out of the aircraft.

"We have been eagerly awaiting your arrival, Your Excellency Special Envoy."

Surrounded by a group of assassins, Lei Xiaogu greeted the envoy who stepped off the aircraft. Upon seeing the green beetle behind him, he couldn't help but ask a question.

"This must be the other scarab warrior, right? And where is the other black scarab?"

The envoy's smile vanished instantly, replaced by a grim expression.

"Black Beetle has other things to do, so I arranged for Green Beetle to come with me today. After all, we're all companions, and we'll get to know each other sooner or later."

Although that's what the special envoy said, Lei Xiaogu wasn't stupid; he could tell at a glance what kind of dispute had arisen between the two.

However, Lei Xiaogu pretended not to notice and steered the conversation in another direction.

"Your Excellency has specifically requested to meet with me; there must be something important on your mind, right?"

The envoy didn't mince words and went straight to the point, saying, "As you've probably seen and noticed, our Reach's food factory was destroyed not long ago."

"Ah, I received the news early this morning. Was it the Justice League that did it?"

“No.” The envoy shook his head. “We did it ourselves. This morning when I went to the meeting, I was verbally attacked by the Justice League because of a slight oversight by my subordinates. I had no choice but to blow up the factory to clear my name and get away.”

"It's related to the destruction of the Nakfuji factory three days ago, right?" Lei Xiaogu guessed.

“That’s right, it’s the flaw left from that operation.” The envoy gritted his teeth. “Although I temporarily gained a sliver of hope by making a drastic sacrifice, the Reach Zerg are no longer on the United Nations’ whitelist.”

"Not only that, the Justice League has been keeping a close eye on us lately, so the Reach Zerg now needs the help of your Illuminati."

While outwardly remaining calm, Lei Xiaogu inwardly despised the Zerg of Reach, since the current situation was entirely due to the Zerg's own actions.

According to the plan initially set by both sides, the Illuminati would try to lure the main members of the Justice League away from Earth, and then the Reach would take advantage of the Earth's weakened defenses to descend upon Earth and carry out the plan.

All of this was ruined by the Zerg's unnecessary actions, which is equivalent to turning the difficulty from easy to hard.

However, this is not a bad thing for the Illuminati, since they are only using the Reach Zerg. The Illuminati wants to use the Reach Zerg to attract the attention of the Justice League.

However, the true purpose cannot be revealed for now, since the Zerg of Reach are still useful. "The Illuminati is very willing to help our allies solve their problems," Lei Xiaogu said, his words sounding more appealing than his actual performance. After all, he currently had a good bait to attract the attention of the Justice League.

Because of the change in plans, Roy's clone, who was assigned to Green Arrow's side, is temporarily useless, so it's a good opportunity to make use of it.

“That would be perfect.” The envoy nodded in satisfaction. “The things the Reach Zerg promised will be delivered to the Illuminati on schedule.”

The meeting concluded with a handshake between the two parties.

...

Inside the new base of the Young Justice League, Jaime looked at the injured trainees, her eyes filled with lingering worry.

Just three nights ago, Pulse ran back to the Hall of Justice breathlessly to get help. When the Justice League members, led by Superman, arrived, all they saw were the injured people gathered together by Martian Girl.

This was the first time Jaime had seen everyone so disheveled since joining the Young Justice League. Kid Flash and Artemis seemed alright, though perhaps they had some bruises and sprains.

The most severely injured were Stargirl and Robin. One suffered burns of varying degrees all over her body, while the other had several broken ribs.

Thanks to Yang Le for providing treatment, otherwise Robin and the other woman would have been bedridden for who knows how long, and Stargirl would have faced the possibility of disfigurement.

After learning from the Martian girl who had injured everyone, and combining this with the information brought back by the time traveler Pulse, Jaime grew increasingly terrified of the blue beetle behind her.

He would stab his comrades in the back, hurt the people he loves, become a hero of the Reach's rule over Earth, and become a traitor whom everyone should kill.

This was not what Hai Mei wanted. Unwilling to face all of this, Hai Mei finally made up her mind to remove the blue beetle behind her.

"Are you sure, Jaime?" Batman looked seriously at the boy standing in front of him. "Once you undergo the Nakvergi surgery, even we can't be sure what will happen."

“I’m sure, Batman.” Jaime gritted her teeth and clenched her fist. “I’d rather die than betray Earth.”

Batman stared intently into Jaime's eyes, which held both fear and determination, but which ultimately coalesced into unwavering resolve.

“I understand.” Batman nodded. “I will contact the Nakvergi, and we will arrange the surgery date as soon as possible. You can rest assured that if you don’t get off the operating table, for whatever reason, those aliens will not be able to leave Earth.”

"At the same time, the Justice League will take good care of your family."

Jaime took a deep breath, nodded heavily, and said, "I understand, Batman."

After Jaime left, Batman made sure no one was around before picking up his communicator and contacting Yang Le.

"Haimee has agreed to the surgery. When can you prepare it?"

"He agreed?" Yang Le asked in surprise, but he immediately understood. "Was it Robin and the others' injuries that spurred him on? This kid is quite loyal and righteous."

"Since that's the case, I can't let him down. I'm available anytime; you can set a time."
