Chapter 1084 Disgusting Zerg
Chapter 1084 Disgusting Zerg
The UN Secretary-General was sitting in his office chatting with the Reach envoy. In fact, ever since the latter came to Earth, the former had often invited him to his office to reminisce.
Whether the two were close friends or the Secretary-General wanted to maintain the relationship between Earth and Reach remains unknown.
However, it must be said that the special envoy is quite capable. Not only is he eloquent, but he is also very knowledgeable. Apart from some matters concerning Earth itself, he can say something about anything the Secretary-General asks.
“You are truly a learned envoy,” the Secretary-General said respectfully. “With a leader like you, I have even greater hopes for the future of our cooperation.”
“There’s no need for such modesty, Secretary-General,” the envoy said, raising his hand to reassure him. “As I said before, this operation is mutually beneficial. Earth has some materials that are scarce on Reach, and I hope that you will not be stingy with them when the time comes.”
“Of course,” the UN Secretary-General assured him. He wasn’t making empty promises; everything he had just said was agreed upon beforehand by the various countries, and the agreements had already been signed. They were just waiting for the technology promised by the Zerg to be implemented.
However, these secretaries-general cannot tell the Zerg of the Reach for the time being. Don't be fooled by their current happy gathering; they still understand the principle of not acting until they see results.
Everything will have to wait until we see the real thing.
"If I remember correctly, our first mutual aid plan was about food, right?"
The special envoy smiled and took out a pre-prepared plan, and continued, "Because we are the advance team, we were unable to bring some technological equipment with us. For now, we can only help you solve the problem of food."
"This is a habit we've maintained after funding three planets. We've found that food is a huge problem on most planets, so advance teams usually bring food-related technologies with them."
"But don't worry, once the grain factory is built, our follow-up support troops will arrive, and then we can begin real cooperation."
Hearing the special envoy say this, even the UN Secretary-General's expression brightened somewhat.
"That's great."
"If it's pointless, we can ask the United States to sign the treaty, so that we can build food factories."
The envoy leaned back on the sofa, a barely perceptible glint of shrewdness flashing in his eyes, like a hunter watching a rabbit fall into a trap step by step.
Just then, the landline phone on the Secretary-General's desk rang. The Secretary-General frowned slightly, smiled apologetically at the Special Envoy, and then picked up the receiver.
"Hey, what's going on?"
"Secretary General, Mr. Excellence of the Justice League wants to see you."
If it were an ordinary person, the Secretary-General would have wanted to decline the offer, but the Justice League is indispensable, and he dared not offend them easily. So he could only ask Mr. Zhuoyue to wait, since he was currently discussing matters with the special envoy.
“It’s alright, Mr. Secretary-General.” The envoy waved his hand with a smile. “I don’t mind having a third person present. Why don’t you invite this superhero in and see if there’s anything I can do to help?”
Since the special envoy had said so, the secretary-general could not refuse and could only notify that Mr. Zhuo Yue be allowed in.
Before long, a masked black man with a physique comparable to a professional model walked in. Fortunately, the secretary-general knew this man well; otherwise, he would have called security long ago. "Hello, Mr. Zhuoyue, may I ask what brings you here today?" The secretary-general sat firmly in his seat, adopting the demeanor of a superior, a completely different attitude from when he was chatting with the Zhiyuan Zerg envoy.
“Hello, Secretary General.” Mr. Zhuo nodded slightly. “And Your Excellency, Special Envoy, I didn’t expect you to be here. I have something to discuss with the Secretary General, would you mind leaving for a moment?”
The special envoy was quite nonchalant upon hearing this, and stood up to leave, but the secretary-general stopped him.
"It's alright. Reach is now an ally of Earth. Perhaps the Special Envoy can help us find a solution if we encounter any problems."
Seeing this, Mr. Zhuoyue did not insist. After all, one of the steps of his mission was to let the Zerg of Reach know, and now that they were here, it saved him some trouble.
“That’s true, we do need to ask the special envoy for his opinion on this matter.” Mr. Zhuoyue said this in a pretentious manner before taking out a small tablet and reporting.
"Just now, the Justice League detected a signal from space, and then we spotted a fleet near Mercury. We don't know if it's a support fleet from Reach."
Upon hearing this, the Secretary-General looked at the Special Envoy, whose ever-present smiling poker face, which had remained unchanged since his arrival on Earth, finally showed a slight change.
“That’s impossible,” the envoy said firmly. “I just contacted our support forces not long ago; they only just departed from Reach. It’s impossible for them to arrive in the solar system in such a short time.”
"The fleet discovered by the Justice League could not possibly be our Reach fleet."
Mr. Zhuoyue's words clearly exceeded the special envoy's expectations, and even his tone became a bit harsher, losing his initial refined demeanor, but he quickly adjusted.
"I think that must be a fleet of other aliens. I remember this gentleman just said that they sent a string of messages. If you can't decipher them, we can help you."
“Oh, that’s not necessary.” Mr. Zhuo shook his head. “The spaceship we captured earlier had some methods for deciphering universal information. We’ve already deciphered their information using that data.”
"They claimed to have come in friendship, which is why we speculated that they might be a support fleet from your Reach Zerg."
"This..." The special envoy was speechless. What happened today was indeed far beyond his expectations. He hadn't experienced this feeling of not being able to control the overall situation in a long time.
"Now that the envoy has rejected their identity as the Reach insectoids, they must be a completely new group of aliens."
Mr. Zhuoyue looked at the Secretary-General and said, "After receiving the message from the Special Envoy, I informed my companions. They are currently organizing a small team to make contact with the other side. Let's wait until they bring back firsthand information before making any further decisions."
The Secretary-General nodded and said, "That's the only way. If they really are a friendly alien race like the Reach, then we will have another ally on Earth."
The envoy's expression was not as relaxed as it had been at the beginning, but he still smiled and said...
"Congratulations on your success."
