Chapter 1083

Regardless of others, Shazam was thoroughly disgusted. Even after returning to the Hall of Justice, he was still resentful of the attitude of the Zerg from Reach and the ambassadors from various countries present.

It wasn't just that he was a child who couldn't stand it; not only him, but everyone else in the Justice League was disgusted with him too.

"Today's news, this is your old friend Gordon. Just today, a horrific alien terrorist attack occurred on Roosevelt Island in the East River of New York City."

Inside the Hall of Justice, a group of superheroes are gathered together watching today's news. The male host on the screen is flashing what he thinks is a cool smile as he reads from the cue cards in his hand.

"An alien named Despair Demon, claiming to be from the planet Carano outside the Milky Way, used unknown technology to surround Roosevelt Island. Fortunately, our friendly partner on Earth, the Reach, came to our aid."

"Please believe me, dear viewers. I was there at the time. Our esteemed envoy simply took out a device the size of a palm and touched it, and the Justice League was able to break the cage that had no solution."

Behind Gordon, a photo of the Zerg waving appeared on the large screen, surrounded by the UN Secretary-General and other high-ranking officials.

“Gorden, I think what our Earth lacks is an alien ally like the Reach, who can stand with us in critical moments and help us solve problems. They are more trustworthy than those masked people who only fight and destroy infrastructure.”

Hearing this, Shazam finally couldn't hold back anymore and stood up from the sofa.

"I really can't believe it. We were the ones who defeated that Despair Demon, and now our contribution is insignificant!"

"Calm down, Shazam," Batman said, trying to stop him. "You should remember that the Justice League isn't there to win over ordinary people; that's meaningless."

“But it’s really frustrating,” Shazam complained. “I can accept them not reporting on it, but I can’t accept being kicked around in return.”

“I agree with that.” Mr. Excellence nodded with his arms crossed. “Although I’ve only been in the alliance for a short time, if you include the Justice Society, Earth’s native superhero organizations have been around for almost a century, yet there are still some idiots who don’t believe us.”

"Heroes may not care about flowers, but the cold words of those they save really hurt me."

"People's distrust is really demoralizing," Green Lantern Hal commented.

While Shazam and the others were discussing, Yang Le, who was sitting to the side, suddenly said something.

"In the end, it's always the outsider who knows how to chant the sutras better."

"What do you mean?" Hal asked, puzzled. Yang Le had just spoken in Chinese, which he hadn't learned, so he couldn't understand.

"What Yang Le just said is a Chinese proverb, which means that people tend to think that outsiders are more capable and trustworthy than locals."

After Shazam finished explaining, he realized everyone was looking at him, so he pointed to his head and said...

"The wisdom of Solomon".

“That’s not surprising.” Hal breathed a sigh of relief. “I thought my knowledge was inferior to that of an elementary school student.”

Shazam remained silent. In fact, judging from everyone's reactions, aside from him who had received Solomon's help, Hal was probably the only one who hadn't understood. "The Justice League has helped Earthlings far too many times. These people have come to take our help for granted."

Yang Le sighed and continued, "It would be strange if the Justice League didn't show up to help them one day when something happens."

The hall fell silent. Reality might be just as Yang Le said, but they couldn't change the situation yet, since they couldn't possibly avoid trouble altogether.

"Let's leave this topic at that for now," Batman abruptly ended the unpleasant conversation. "Our main enemy right now is the Reach. Exposing their true nature will turn around the Justice League's reputation."

Everyone nodded; Batman was right. But they hadn't even caught the Reach's tail yet, and they didn't know how long this tug-of-war would last.

"Soon the Zerg of the Reach will be backed by the United Nations, and then they will share some technology with other countries. At that time, there may be more people protecting them than supporting us."

Mr. Zhuoyue slumped back on the sofa, feeling utterly defeated. The last time he experienced such a sense of frustration was when he failed to confess his feelings to his girlfriend in college.

“I have an idea.” Yang Le raised his hand, attracting everyone’s attention. “Don’t they like to fawn over outsiders? In that case, let’s find a competitor for the Reach Zerg.”

"A competitor?" Batman frowned. "What do you mean? Explain."

“Can’t I transform into all sorts of aliens?” Yang Le waved the Omnitrix in his hand. “In that case, I’ll pretend to be a new group of alien visitors and act as a competitor to the Reach.”

Batman lowered his head and remained silent, seemingly contemplating the possibility of Yang Le's plan.

"Think about it carefully. The reason why the Zerg in the Reach are so fearless now is not only because of the support of the Earthlings, but also because they have no competition."

"Once a group of people similar to them appears and squeezes their living space, the Reach Zerg will definitely reveal their weaknesses when they are in a hurry."

“That’s a good idea,” Mr. Zhuoyue nodded. “But the Reach Zerg are several people. How can you pretend to be a group when you’re only one person? You know, if you don’t have enough people, it’s hard for them to believe what you say.”

"Of course I have a way to do that." Yang Le smiled confidently. He still had so many children. The Frost Ghosts reproduced on their own, so it was easy to put together a group of them.

“We can give it a try.” Batman nodded. “This method can disrupt the Reach’s rhythm, and they will definitely make some mistakes.”

"And just in case, the fewer people who know about this, the better." Batman looked at everyone present. "Yang Le's plan is just for the few of us to know about; don't tell anyone else yet."

"Yang Le, when will you be ready? How do you need our cooperation?" Superman asked.

The alliance still has a certain appeal among ordinary people, and if they help, Yang Le's identity as an alien ally can be confirmed very quickly.

"Let's do it tomorrow." Yang Le thought for a moment. "I need some time to prepare, but don't worry, I'll let you know when I'm ready. I won't do anything surprise to catch you off guard."
