Chapter 1029
"You changed overnight?"
“Yes,” Mary nodded. “Actually, several years ago, Biarriya had already harbored ill intentions towards the neighboring countries, and the relatively backward Kurak had always been their main target.”
"However, President Khazafti of Kurak is a very capable man and has always taken a tough stance on this matter. Under his leadership, Kurak has rejected numerous offers from Biarriya.
As Mary spoke, she walked towards the television in the living room. After rummaging through the TV cabinet for a while, she finally found a videotape. To be honest, Yang Le hadn't seen such an old-fashioned recording device in many years.
Mary put the videotape into the projector, and a few seconds later a video began playing on the television.
In the video, Kurak's President Khazafti is giving a speech, and it is easy to see from the footage that a large number of people have gathered below his podium.
Khazafti was nearly fifty years old, but his voice was strong and his body language was powerful, stirring the emotions of the people present.
Khazafti spoke some kind of minor language, but the Omnitrix's built-in translator allowed Yang Le to understand what he was saying.
In short, it was a series of encouraging words, telling the people of Kurak that they need not fear the military power of Biarya, and that, combined with their prior research into Khazafti's achievements, Kurak indeed had a good president.
Mary was worried that the two of them wouldn't understand, so she gave them a simple translation.
"Now you can understand why I said that Khazaftti seemed like a completely different person all of a sudden."
Mary paused the video and continued, "When Garfield and I went to Kurako to buy supplies, we met Khazafti in person. He is a very capable person who genuinely wants to work hard for his country."
"He is definitely not the kind of coward who would willingly let his country disappear."
"Da da da!"
Hearing footsteps outside the door, Mary immediately turned off the television and projector. Just then, Garfield jumped in carrying a notebook.
"I found it, Mom. Did you put my autographed book in the bottom drawer of your desk? I've been looking for it for ages."
Hearing Garfield's complaints, Mary looked helpless and said, "It's all because you like to leave things lying around. If you were willing to tidy up the house yourself, this wouldn't happen, and it would save me a lot of trouble."
Garfield scoffed after hearing this. In his opinion, although his room was messy, it was organized in a way that didn't need tidying up. His mother would end up not being able to find anything after she tidied up, which was what he considered a real mess.
But Garfield knew that if he actually said that, his little bottom would definitely get a beating.
Under the threat of force, Garfield temporarily yielded to the powerful.
Garfield skipped over to Tiger, handed him the notebook and pen, and said expectantly.
"Tiger, could you sign this for me? I've wanted a notebook full of superhero signatures for ages."
Superhero autograph books are like stamp collecting for some celebrities in the real universe; some fans fill a book with the autographs of their favorite superheroes.
This activity was once extremely popular, and although its popularity has waned a bit recently, it is still being done by people, especially children.
Having a superhero's autograph is enough for a kid to brag about for a long time, let alone having a whole book of them!
Bao Hu didn't intend to refuse, but he didn't plan to sign in the traditional way; he wanted to use a method that suited him.
The tiger took the pen, dipped its paw in ink, and then gently scratched the open notebook, creating a page with a wild, beastly claw signature. "Wow!" Garfield exclaimed excitedly, looking at the extraordinary page.
"I'm sure no one else has such a special superhero signature."
“Of course.” Tiger proudly raised his head. “This is the first time I’ve signed an autograph for someone. Be proud, kid.”
Garfield jumped up in agreement, which is one of the good things about kids – they're so energetic.
Garfield chatted with Tiger for a while longer, then walked over to the Martian Girl and handed her the notebook.
"Could you please sign your name for me? I can trade you my mom's signature for it."
The Martian girl was about to take it when Garfield handed it to her, but she froze after hearing what he said.
“Garfield!” Mary’s tone became noticeably more serious, but Garfield wasn’t scared at all. As a mischievous kid, he could still tell whether his mother was angry or not.
"Please, Mom!"
Mary could only sigh and agree, which made the house even happier.
Martian Girl and Garfield were delighted to receive autographs. The latter even wanted to show the former a director's cut of the TV series "Hello, Megan," starring his mother, but Mary stopped him.
"Let's play later, Garfield. The border fence has been destroyed, and I need to go and reinforce it. You go and add some feed for the animals in the warehouse."
“Okay~” Garfield’s reluctance was written all over his face, but he still did not refuse his mother’s request.
The Martian girl wanted to help, but Mary stopped her.
"Can you help me out? I remember you're from Mars too, so you should be very strong, right?"
"Me?" The Martian girl first pointed to herself in a daze, then clapped her hands excitedly.
"Of course, no problem. I'm not bragging, but I'm one of the top three strongest in the whole squad, and I also have mind braking to help you nail the fence."
And so, the Martian girl was called away by Mary, and judging from her appearance, it was unclear whether she still remembered her original mission.
Seeing this, Tiger deduced that they might have to stay a while longer, so he asked Garfield if he needed any help, but Garfield refused.
"Bao Hu, you should take a rest. I can handle this on my own."
Garfield put on the gloves on the cabinet and continued, "Besides, if those herbivores saw you, they would be terrified and make a mess of the warehouse again."
After saying that, Garfield waved and walked out the door. Seeing this, Tiger could only slump on the sofa and chat with Robin and the others who were still on the bio-flying vehicle.
According to Robin's analysis, he believes that the president of Kurakor was definitely under mind control, otherwise a person would not suddenly undergo such a drastic change.
"I just don't know who's controlling President Kurakor."
