Chapter 431 Remuel and Remuel
Chapter 431 Remuel and Remuel
Xi Dejia couldn't help but look around. The space, which was larger than her entire monastery dormitory, gave her a strong sense of unreality, as if someone might rush in at any moment to tell her that this was a mistake.
When she turned around unintentionally, she was suddenly stunned by the view on the other side of the room and held her breath—an entire wall was a huge viewing window, and through the specially made tempered glass, the planet she came from was quietly floating in the dark space.
The blue-green planet was surrounded by veil-like clouds and emitted a soft halo under the starlight.
"Is this...the place where we live?" Sidja unconsciously walked forward until his forehead was almost pressed against the cold glass.
Although I had seen similar pictures in the monastery's textbooks and the old nuns had explained astronomical knowledge with simple models, the shock brought by seeing it with my own eyes was incomparable to those abstract knowledge.
Like a country girl seeing the city for the first time, she was both amazed by the magnificent sight before her and ashamed of her own ignorance.
Unconsciously, Xi Dejia's fingers traced the outline of the planet on the glass, a wave of indescribable inferiority rising within him.
She recalled Vincent's composed demeanor and the nonchalant expressions of the officers she encountered in the corridor—they must have grown tired of this sight long ago.
She, a nun who had hardly ever been to the city, stared blankly out the window like a country girl who had never seen the world.
As Xi Dejia was gazing intently at the planet outside the window, he suddenly heard a soft knocking sound coming from the hatch.
She hurriedly straightened her robes and quickly went to open the door.
Two young nuns stood outside the door; one waved to her cheerfully, while the other stood quietly behind her.
"Hello! I'm Remuel, and this is my older sister Remuel." The red-haired girl introduced herself energetically, her bright green eyes sparkling with curiosity.
Her older sister behind her nodded gently in greeting, her eyes filled with a warm smile.
“We live in the next cabin, and when we saw some new crew members boarding, we thought we’d come over and say hello.” Remy Leigh, ever the friendly sister, pulled her into the room and sat down on the sofa in the living room without any hesitation.
In stark contrast to Sidjia's reserved demeanor, she chattered incessantly like a cheerful little bird: "My sister can't speak, but I can speak for her! We're from Alvin's Demon Hunter Order, and we're here in response to the Governor's summons..."
Xi Dejia, somewhat at a loss, poured tea for the two guests.
Remuel took the teacup and continued her rambling: "Our story is quite unique! My mother was originally a nun of silence, the last member of the Order. Later, she decided to disband the Order and marry my father, wanting to live a normal life..."
At this point, she winked playfully, "But unexpectedly, we two little troublemakers were born."
Remy, who had been listening quietly, gently patted her sister's hand and gave her a reproachful look.
Remuel stuck out her tongue playfully, then continued enthusiastically, "My sisters and I are all untouchables, which worries Mom and Dad a lot. After all, ordinary people would get sick from prolonged contact with us..."
Her voice unconsciously lowered a few decibels.
“So our whole family moved to the wilderness.” Her tone suddenly became cheerful again, her eyes sparkling. “But don’t worry! Mom is a former Sister of Silence, super powerful! No wild beasts or bandits dare to come near our house.” Sidjia’s lips curled up slightly, and an interesting image flashed through her mind—how awkward it must be for an ordinary human father to live day after day surrounded by three untouchable women.
She skillfully used sign language: "Your father must have had a very difficult time."
“Mom said that Dad was always dizzy during those years, but he never showed it in front of us.” Remula continued, a hint of heartache flashing in her eyes: “It wasn’t until we grew up and learned to control our strength that we discovered that Dad’s desk drawer was full of migraine pills.”
At this point, Remy, who had been silent all along, gently grasped her sister's hand, her expressive eyes also revealing deep remorse.
Xi Dejia noticed that although the sister who made the vow of silence could not speak, the emotions flowing in her eyes were richer and more moving than any words.
Holding her sister's warm hand, Remuel quickly regained her energy and proudly puffed out her chest: "But Mom said that Dad's bravest decision in his life was marrying her, the former Silent Sister."
"Dad's a retired veteran of the Astral Army, he's received the Medal of Courage three times!"
Xi Dejia could almost see the scene—a tough soldier who had risked his life in a hail of bullets, returning home to face three walking anti-spiritual energy fields.
Especially during the sisters' childhood, when they had not yet learned to control their power, the omnipresent, oppressive emptiness must have caused this battle-hardened veteran immense suffering.
“Fortunately, my parents have a very good relationship!” Remy winked mischievously, like a smug little fox: “And my mother is very good at hunting, and my father is good at repairing machinery. We live a pretty good life in the wilderness, it’s just that no one dares to come and visit us within a ten-mile radius.”
As the two sisters grew up and gained control of their abilities, their mother made an important decision—to revive the long-dormant tradition of the Demon Hunter Order.
But unlike traditional religious groups, this enlightened mother did not force her daughters to take a vow of silence.
“Mom said it’s everyone’s own choice, just like when she chose to give up her vow and pursue happiness.” Remule’s voice became unusually serious. She looked at her sister beside her, her eyes full of pride: “In the end, it was my sister who took the initiative to inherit Mom’s decapitation sword and made the vow of silence.”
Remien gently stroked the ancient-looking greatsword at her waist, the oath ribbon wrapped around the hilt swaying slightly with her movement.
Xi Dejia suddenly understood why this silent woman always had such a peaceful light in her eyes—it was the tranquility brought about by choices made from the heart.
After listening to Remuel's story, Xi Dejia nodded thoughtfully.
She tapped the data panel lightly with her fingers, typing out a line: "So your mother ultimately chose to return to the battlefield?"
When Remuel saw this, the smile on her face softened and became complicated. She recalled, "Yes, when the other cults re-established contact with my mother, she and my father discussed it for three whole days and nights."
The original plan was for our whole family to go to Holy Terra—the presence of the Three Silent Sisters would be enough to get Dad a leisurely clerical job in the Royal Palace district.
“But in the end they changed their minds,” Remuel continued, a warm light shining in her eyes. “Dad said, ‘If we’re going to the battlefield, we’re going together,’ and insisted on going to Terra with Mom. He wanted us sisters to come to the Rostov sub-sector…”
