Chapter 253 One Straight Line Turns into Two-Headed Block

Chapter 253: One-track mind becomes two-sided block

Roy had been driving for almost a day and a night, barely stopping, and the wheels of the Bumblebee were almost worn off before he finally arrived in New Hampshire.

We're already bordering Maine, and it's expected that we'll reach our destination, New Centella, in a few more hours.

Roy came alone this time, without bringing anyone else with him.

After driving for so long, Roy's back was getting stiff, so he decided to stop and rest when he passed a gas station.

I was also worried that driving like this would cause my excellent employee, Bumblebee, to die from overwork, and I also wanted to grab something to eat.

This gas station also has a convenience store, but there were hardly any people in the store late at night, except for a mother and daughter eating. They were probably on their way, just like Roy.

Roy ignored the mother and daughter, bought some bread and drinks, and began to fill his stomach.

At that moment, a blonde policewoman walked in. She glanced at the mother and daughter, then at Roy, and then walked towards Roy.

(Laurie Holden, who plays the blonde policewoman)
"Is that white SUA outside yours?"

Roy looked at the policewoman strangely, wondering why she would ask such a question, but he still gave an answer.

The police on America's side are a bit troublesome; one wrong word could empty your magazine. That's why Roy's skin color is correct, which is why the blonde policewoman speaks to him so politely.

"No, that yellow Chevrolet Camaro is mine."

The blonde policewoman then looked at the mother and daughter, and it was obvious that the white SUV belonged to them.

So the blonde policewoman approached the mother and daughter to inquire. The little girl seemed fine, but the mother appeared visibly nervous.

Wait, why does this little girl look so familiar?

Roy, who was munching on bread, paused for a moment. It wasn't that he was interested in the little girl; she just looked familiar.

Isn't that the little girl from the Silent Hill movie? I think her name was Sharon!

As one of the few games adapted into movies without falling apart, Roy has seen both the first and second Silent Hill movies.

The first part made some significant changes, replacing the god-like father figure with the mother, which weakened the protagonist's fighting power. However, overall, the flaws did not outweigh the merits.

So this blonde policewoman must be the same policewoman character from the movie, right?

What a coincidence! We just happened to run into the main characters of the movie. Does that mean we can follow the mother and daughter into Silent Hill?
Roy began to observe Sharon and her mother discreetly.

The blonde policewoman began questioning Sharon's mother.

"Ma'am, may I see your driver's license?"

Perhaps Sharon's mother's behavior was a bit unusual, which aroused the suspicion of the blonde policewoman, who put her hand on her holster and asked the woman for her driver's license.

Sharon's mother rummaged in her bag and pulled out a driver's license, which she gave to the blonde policewoman.

The blonde policewoman glanced at it and started tapping the walkie-talkie.

"Center, this is Sybil Bennett, badge number XXX... Please check Ross Mason's driver's license number XXX..."

"Received... This person is fine."

Upon hearing this, the blonde policewoman lowered her hand from the holster.

“Ms. Mason, I see collision marks on your white USV. Was it in a recent accident?”

So that's why the blonde policewoman came in to ask questions.

Rose breathed a slight sigh of relief. She had actually brought her daughter out without her husband's knowledge, worried that he would use official means to stop her, which was why she had seemed rather nervous just now.

Fortunately, the blonde policewoman in front of him hadn't come to see him for that reason.

After organizing his thoughts, Ross came up with an excuse to deal with Sybil.

"Um—I was a little tired from driving, so I bumped into the guardrail."

"I see! Ms. Mason, driving while fatigued is very dangerous. You'd better rest before you continue on your way."

Sybil didn't think much of it; the mother and daughter seemed harmless.

Otherwise, why would the blonde policewoman ask Roy first?

While Roy is indeed handsome, the burly young man looks more threatening.

At that moment, Sybil's walkie-talkie rang.

"Emergency! A prison van has lost contact on the highway bordering New Hampshire and Maine. Nearby officers, please proceed to check it out."

Sibyl answered the walkie-talkie.

“Sybil Bennett has received it; go and check it now.”

The blonde policewoman left the convenience store, got on her motorcycle, and drove away, which relieved Ross.

"Mom, when can we get to that place you mentioned?"

Lovely Sharon hadn't said a word until Sybil left, at which point she suddenly spoke.

"It'll be quick, just a few more hours. If you're sleepy, you can take a nap first, and you'll arrive when you wake up."

"Ok!"

Ross bought another coffee at the convenience store, then took his daughter back to the car.

Roy quickly stuffed the rest of the bread into his stomach and followed.

"Bumblebee, follow that car in front, but don't get too close!"

“Yes, Mr. Blake.”

After activating autopilot, Roy took out his phone and started calling the three little witches of the Apocalypse Society.

However, no one answered the phone for a long time after the call was made, which puzzled Roy.

"Strange, could it be that I forgot my phone?"

I dialed Madison's cell phone number again, and this time I finally got through.

But Roy heard a piercing static sound coming from the phone.

What's going on? Was Madison standing next to the electronic jammer on his cell phone, taking a call?
"Hey Madison, what's going on over there? Why is there such a loud static noise?"

"Roy...help...we're...trapped...in...a hotel...zzzz..."

Madison rambled on and on, making no sense, before the call automatically ended.

Although Roy didn't know exactly what had happened at the Apocalypse Society, he was certain it wasn't anything good.

So Roy quickly dialed Mortel Snow's number again.

"Ms. Snow, it seems Madison and the others have run into trouble. Have your people following them found anything?"

Mortel on the other end of the phone was clearly taken aback.

"No way, I received news that the three of them went into a hotel and haven't come out since, they were waiting for you very obediently. How could something have suddenly happened?"

Roy's face darkened. What did the word "well-behaved" have to do with Madison and Maria? The reason he agreed to let Mortel send someone to follow the three little witches was because he knew they would definitely cause trouble, and he wanted to prevent any accidents from happening to the three of them before he arrived.

But now it seems the unexpected still happened.

“Ms. Snow, you’d better send your people to check. I think something might have already happened!” Mortel replied to Roy after a moment of silence.

“Mr. Black, I’ll make a call right now. Wait for me to call you back.”

After hanging up the phone, Roy frowned as he looked at the dark road ahead, pondering what had happened in Madison.

Based on the fighting prowess shown in the Silent Hill movies, apart from Alessa, no one should be able to threaten Madison, Zoe, or Maria.

But if it's the game Silent Hill, then the world-building is already quite terrifying, and if you stitch together the world-building of this game, it becomes even more frightening.

Just then, Roy suddenly noticed that the white SUV in front of him seemed to be speeding up.

"Bumblebee, what's going on?"

"Based on my judgment, there is a 97% probability that the car in front has already noticed that we are following them, so it is speeding up to escape."

Roy's face darkened. Did Bumblebee even need to say that?

There's only one road, and we've been following that car for so long. Even if Ross were an idiot, he would have noticed something was wrong, right?

After all, in the middle of the night, a burly young man following a mother and daughter could easily be made into a two-hour action-romance movie.

"I'm asking, how did she find out about you?"

“I’m sorry, Mr. Blake! The terrain in this mountainous area is too complicated. If we follow too far away, we might lose sight of our target.”

Bumblebee's judgment was indeed largely correct, and since things had come to this point, Roy could only continue following the car and accept the mistake.

The SUV in front was speeding up, eager to shake off the Chevrolet Camaro behind it.

But even a fool would know that an SUV could never outrun a muscle car.

However, at this moment, an accident still occurred.

Suddenly, a police roadblock appeared ahead, and the person who set up the roadblock was none other than the blonde policewoman Sybil from before.

Unbeknownst to them, Ross and Roy had already crossed New Hampshire and arrived at the edge of Maine.

The reason Sibyl set up a checkpoint here is that a prison van was involved in an accident due to a landslide ahead, making the road conditions extremely dangerous.

This place is actually quite close to New Centrelia, but Roy hasn't realized it yet because there are no road signs to confirm his location.

Ross quickly stopped the car and asked Sybil for help.

"Officer, it's me! That yellow sports car has been following me, I'm so scared!"

"Is there such a thing?"

Sybil immediately put her hand on her holster and blocked Roy's car, as if she was ready to engage in American-style iaido at the slightest provocation.

"Stop the car! Put your hand where I can see it! Then get out of the car immediately! What do you want?"

Roy stared at Sybil speechlessly.

"Didn't you tell me to get out of the car? Of course I have to open the car door to get out!"

"Put your hands where I can see them right now!"

Sybil nervously drew her pistol and aimed it at Roy.

This made Roy roll his eyes; America loved giving these self-contradictory commands.

Roy cannot open the door if he puts his hand where the police can see it.

If Roy were to open the door, he would have to reach for the door handle, and Sybil might think he was going to pull out a gun.

This is a classic case of being stubborn to the point of being trapped in two ways, and many unfortunate people have been mistakenly killed by the police for this reason.

But there was nothing that could be done. With America's high rate of gun possession, the police had no way of knowing whether the target was carrying a gun. If they made a wrong bet, they would be done for.

There's no need to risk your life for such a small salary. In that case, we can only let ordinary citizens suffer.

"Officer, I'm one of our own! You've misunderstood me!"

Sibyl snorted coldly.

"Don't think you can impersonate a government official just because you're a bit handsome. That's a serious crime! Get out of the car right now!"

Just as Roy was struggling helplessly with Sybil, Ross, in the white SUV, saw his sleeping daughter Sharon having nightmares again, muttering a word over and over.

"Silent Hill...Silent Hill..."

This made Rose very distressed.

Actually, Sharon is not Rose's biological daughter. She was unable to have children, so she and her husband adopted a daughter, Sharon.

Ross had always treated Sharon like his own daughter, so seeing her like this naturally broke his heart.

At that moment, Ross noticed some sketchbooks next to Sharon, filled with the little girl's doodles.

Ross picked up the sketchbook and looked at it, finding that most of the drawings were eerie and unsettling, sending chills down one's spine.

The only normal-looking photo is the Mason family portrait, in which Ross and her husband Harry Mason are holding Sharon's hand, the three of them standing at their front door, smiling very happily.

This is perhaps a true reflection of Sharon's inner thoughts, rather than the messy painting she created under the influence of certain forces.

Ross stroked Sharon's face, seemingly having made up his mind, his eyes becoming incredibly determined.

"Sharon, Mom will definitely make you normal again!"

After saying that, Rose stepped on the gas and started moving forward.

This change caught Sybil's attention, and she took a few steps to catch up with Ross.

"Come back! There's been a landslide ahead, it's very dangerous!"

Unfortunately, Ross's car had already driven far away, and he couldn't hear Sybil's words at all.

Roy was getting anxious; he couldn't let Rose get away.

"Bumblebee!"

"Roger that, Mr. Black!"

Bumblebee sped up instantly, going from a standstill to 100 km/h, and brushed past Sybil.

This situation infuriated Sybil, and she picked up her pistol to shoot at Bumblebee's wheels, but ultimately decided it was too dangerous.

After all, the Bumblebee has such a fast acceleration, and if a tire is punctured, it may roll over, and if it's unlucky, it may even fall off the safety fence.

Sybil reluctantly put away his gun, rushed towards his motorcycle, and tapped on his walkie-talkie to report to headquarters.

“This is Sybil Bennett, badge number XXX… I have arrived at the prison van location. There has been a landslide here! I have set up roadblocks, but two vehicles have already driven through! I am following them.”

"Roger that! Officer Bennett, the rescue operation has been dispatched. Please be mindful of your safety and avoid any unnecessary actions."

America's police prioritize their own safety over the safety of citizens, which is why so many outrageous things happen.

However, Sybil was clearly a police officer with a sense of justice. She didn't want to see anything happen to Ross and her daughter, so she disobeyed the orders from headquarters and sped up to catch up with the yellow Chevrolet Camaro and the white SUV.
