Chapter 217 Extracting the Venom

The little snake was indeed attracted, and its tiny body darted upwards, its target being Lin Xin's palm. However, she was very wicked and quickly moved her hand away, causing the little snake to miss its target and fall into the jar with a "plop".

The little snake was momentarily confused, seemingly unable to understand why it hadn't managed to pounce on the delicious-smelling food. Its two tiny eyes were indeed too small; otherwise, it would definitely have been surrounded by swirling patterns.

Lin Xin chuckled at the sight of it. When it regrouped and lunged at her palm again, she dodged it with the same trick, watching as the little snake fell to the bottom of the jar, laughing heartily.

After teasing her several times, she finally had a change of heart and let the little snake pounce on her hand, just as she had hoped.

The fragrant ball of light was right in front of them. The little snake twisted its tiny body and coiled itself around the center of its body, then slowly licked it into its mouth with its tiny tongue.

Although it ate very slowly, the little ball of light wasn't very big, and it finished it in no time. The snake's colorful belly bulged out a little, making the whole snake look somewhat deformed.

Seeing that it was getting drowsy after eating, Lin Xin thought of putting it back in the jar. But as soon as she moved, the little snake quickly slithered into her sleeve, coiled around her wrist, bit its little tail, and transformed into a very pretty bracelet.

"This..." Lin Xin was dumbfounded. She tried to pull it off, but she didn't expect it to bite so firmly. She didn't dare to use too much force, afraid that she might accidentally tear the little body off again. She guessed that Dr. Chu would have to chase her around the military camp with a forty-meter-long machete.

"Little girl, how are you? Is there anything you can't solve?" Just as she was wondering what to do, Doctor Chu's voice rang out at the door, and he had already entered by the time he finished speaking.

Seeing Lin Xin's expression, Dr. Chu's heart skipped a beat, thinking to himself, "She's already caused trouble in such a short time?"
"W-What's wrong?" he asked cautiously, glancing at her.

"Look, take a look." Since there was no way to avoid it, Lin Xin simply pulled up her sleeve, revealing her wrist and showing it to Dr. Chu. "I don't know why she's so attached to me. She won't look down no matter what I do, and I don't dare to pull her down too hard. What do you suggest I do?"

I thought Dr. Chu would definitely be unhappy, but to my surprise, he stared at the little snake with shining eyes for a long time, and then asked in delight, "What did you feed it just now?"

Hearing this, Lin Xin felt a pang of guilt, but she didn't show it on the surface. She replied with a puzzled look, "I didn't feed it anything! I just thought it was pretty and was sleeping peacefully, so I took a second look. Who knew it would stick to me like that and refuse to leave?"

Dr. Chu knew immediately that she wasn't telling the truth, but now was not the time to pursue that. He stood up, walked to the corner of the tent, picked up a very delicate little jade bottle, and handed it to Lin Xin. "If it gets restless when it wakes up later, put this little bottle near its mouth and let it bite it. Once it spits out the venom, it will be fine."

"What the hell? Venom?" Lin Xin was completely dumbfounded. She had seen snake breeders extracting venom on TV before, and she used to find it quite relaxing. She never expected that she would actually be doing this job herself. It was really... haha!
"That Dr. Chu, what if he's half asleep and bites me?" Although she has wood-type abilities and can't be easily poisoned, she still doesn't want to suffer like that!

"Haha," Doctor Chu chuckled, shaking his head repeatedly, "No, how could that be!"

Lin Xin was highly skeptical of the truthfulness of his words, but she didn't know what to do for the time being. She could only stare at the little snake with unblinking eyes, hoping that it would wake up soon and vomit the poison in front of its master.

For the next while, Dr. Chu, perhaps sensing her thoughts, didn't leave. Instead, he tended to the plants while explaining things to her. Lin Xin was initially a little distracted, but later she absorbed quite a bit, so much so that when the little snake woke up from its slumber, she wasn't the first one it noticed.

"The snake has woken up. Get that bottle ready." Doctor Chu quickly reminded her, noticing her little head peeking out from her tightly bound sleeves.

"Huh? Oh," Lin Xin reacted quickly, running over to grab the small bottle tightly in her hand. She stretched out her arm and watched the little snake twist and stretch on her wrist until it almost tied itself into a knot before stopping.

Then he stood up straight and started looking around.

At Dr. Chu's instruction, Lin Xin removed the stopper from the small bottle and approached its head. The little snake immediately darted over and bit the bottle opening. Soon, two streams of pinkish mucus seeped from its tiny fangs and flowed into the bottle.

Despite its small size, it contains a considerable amount of venom, filling more than half a bottle.

The little snake, having just spat out its venom, was noticeably weaker. Even its colorful scales seemed to have lost their luster. It lay limply in her palm, coiled up, its little head resting on its body, its tiny eyes half-closed.

"What's wrong with it?" Lin Xin asked, raising her hand.

"Oh, that's how it is after vomiting venom, and it vomited so much this time, it probably needs to rest for a while. Just put it back in the jar, give it some food, and it will feel much better after it eats and takes a nap," Dr. Chu replied absentmindedly.

He had extracted venom from this small snake before, but never as much as this time, nor as dark in color. Now he was eager to study its medicinal uses.

"Well then, you stay here and take care of them! I'll head out now." With that, Doctor Chu left, moving so fast it seemed like a ghost was chasing him.

Lin Xin watched him leave helplessly, thinking to herself, "You keep saying they're all your little darlings, but I don't know if I'm misunderstanding what 'little darlings' means or if you're expressing it wrong. To me, your 'little darlings' seem more like those random poisons!"
Despite her complaints, looking at the listless little snake in her palm, Lin Xin found herself feeling a little sorry for it.

She reached out and gently stroked its little head, and the snake wriggled in response.

"Sigh, I really owe you!" Despite saying that, she still didn't hesitate to condense a ball of energy again and place it near the little snake's mouth, which was much larger than the previous ball.

The little snake seemed unable to believe that such immense wealth had fallen upon its head. It first licked its tongue, and when it found it was real, its tiny eyes widened in astonishing brightness.

"Eat up, it's for you." Lin Xin whispered, bringing her hand to her mouth, not caring whether the animal understood her or not.

The little snake clearly understood. Even if it didn't understand, the good stuff in its mouth was real. It changed its slow and deliberate manner from last time and quickly swallowed the energy ball. Then it turned itself back into a bracelet and fell asleep.
