Secrets: Priestess

Chapter 5 Those People from the Security Company

Chapter 5 Those People from the Security Company
Hearing the noise, a little head popped out.

She is a girl who looks to be in her early twenties.

With brown hair and big eyes, he looked at the three people in front of the door in surprise.

Jiang Zhe was a little confused.

It seems strange that a stranger would come to visit here.

Under the other person's scrutiny, Sheen came forward and explained his purpose: "Good morning, Miss. Ms. Daly asked me to meet her at this address."

I vaguely heard a man's voice coming from the half-open door: "Rosanne, these are Daly's friends. Let them in."

Jiang Zhe just felt that the man's voice was familiar.

The brown-haired girl who was peeking out of the door turned her gaze from astonishment to curiosity. She looked at them while opening the door. When she opened the door, the girl revealed her figure. She was wearing a light green dress decorated with beautiful lace, which was youthful and cute and matched her face very well.

The room wasn't large, and the partitions made it seem even smaller. Near the entrance stood a classic sofa, soft-covered armchairs, and a log-colored coffee table.

A man and a woman came out from behind the partition.

The man is really an "acquaintance".

It was the gray-eyed police officer who woke Jiang Zhe up that day.

The gray-eyed man was not wearing a police uniform today. He was wearing a proper black suit. He walked closer as Luo Shan addressed him as "Captain Dunn".

The lady next to the man was dressed in a very mysterious way, with a black hooded robe, blue eyeshadow and blush, and all kinds of strange little accessories all over her body, looking like a "psychic" from a fairy tale.

Xien greeted her familiarly, "Long time no see, Ms. Daly."

Captain Dunn stepped aside.

The psychic lady stepped forward and responded, "Mr. Sheen, this is Dunn Smith, captain of the Tingen Nightwatchmen. I've already had Dunn review your letter. Please come in and discuss the details."

Judging from his appearance, this person is the familiar Nighthawk that Sheen mentioned.

But the letter from this lady...

Did Deacon Sheen ever communicate with Ms. Daly to explain the situation?
Jiang Zhe was a little confused.

There are no mobile phones in this world.

"Is it a communication method of the mysterious side that I don't understand?" Jiang Zhe guessed in his heart.

Captain Dunn and Ms. Daly invited Deacon Sheen into the partition to discuss matters.

Jiang Zhe and Jessica were temporarily left in this outer room.

The brown-haired girl named Roxanne brought them tea and snacks.

"You must be Miss Claire, right? You're truly beautiful. I heard Leonard say you were incredibly beautiful when we were chatting earlier. That guy is such a jerk! He calls himself a poet...but he doesn't even know how to compliment such a beautiful lady."

Luo Shan was quite outgoing and kept talking while sitting opposite Jiang Zhe.

Leonard, the poet...

Judging from Luo Shan's tone, that person should be the night watchman here.

And I've seen her before.

Jiang Zhe remembered the young police officer with black hair and green eyes who was with Captain Dunn that day.

That must be the person...

Evilly beautiful...it's really not a very comfortable description.

Jiang Zhe thought silently.

"Is the person next to you Miss Claire's sister? Are all the women in your family this beautiful?"

Luo Shan spoke a series of words and questions, as fast as a little bird.

Jessica giggled at the girl's amusement. "I'm Claire's aunt, Jessica. Your name is Luo Shan, right? You're such a sweet girl."

The two women instantly became closer and started talking incessantly about makeup, dressing, and even skin care.

Jiang Zhe just felt that he was out of tune with this atmosphere.

The memories Claire left her contained a great deal of knowledge on these subjects, but she was still not used to being able to discuss them with such enthusiasm.

All she could do was to casually answer a few words when the two of them brought the topic to her.

While they were chatting, Butler Sheen, who was discussing something, walked out from the partition and said, "Ms. Claire."

Jiang Zhe saw Xi En motioning her over. The three people inside must be discussing something related to her.

After standing up and walking to the partition, Jiang Zhe saw a short corridor with three offices on each side.

Most of the doors are closed.

Jiang Zhe was led by Xien into one of the rooms, where Captain Dunn and Ms. Daly were waiting.

Xien explained to the two men:
"I explained your abnormality to these two Night Watchmen, and also expressed your desire to stay in Tingen... Based on our conversation, if you want to continue living in Tingen, I suggest you join the Night Watchmen as a civilian staff member."

"Civilian staff?" Jiang Zhe was surprised.

Dunn Smith's calm voice sounded, "Given the scarcity of Beyonders, we will also recruit some ordinary personnel to do auxiliary work. For example, Luo Shan, whom you have already met, is a civilian staff member."

Jiang Zhe tilted his head slightly and asked, "What do civilian staff need to do? What precautions should they take?"

Hearing Jiang Zhe's question, Dunn and Daly looked at each other.

Dai Li's green eyes sparkled with a strange brilliance:

"Although Mr. Sheen mentioned your abnormality, actually experiencing this ability to guide others to speak out is truly astonishing."

Daly exclaimed in amazement, "I'm really curious about what changes this special ability will undergo if you drink the potion..."

Drink the potion?

Jiang Zhe's heart moved.

Dunn coughed lightly and answered Jiang Zhe's previous question:
"People like Luo Shan basically do clerical and on-call work, but as for you, I'd like you to take on some document management. I've read about your school experience. You're a top archaeology student at Tingen University, especially proficient in linguistics, and you happen to be exactly the talent we need."

"As for the precautions... the most important thing is that the civilian staff here are all witnesses of strange events like you. Even outside of work hours, if you want to leave Tingen, you must obtain our approval."

Jiang Zhe understood. This way, he could take Xien and his family's reputation into consideration while making it easier to control and protect her.

Jiang Zhe was surprised to find that all the civilian staff had experienced strange events.

Did that girl Roxanne have a similar experience as her?
Thoughts kept flashing through his mind, and Jiang Zhe didn't hesitate to ask, "What about that 'drink the potion' Ms. Daly mentioned just now? Is it a way to restrict people like me?"

Dunn glared at Daly helplessly, but Daly just smiled faintly.

Sheen explained, "Potions are the stepping stone to becoming extraordinary. As for the rest, you can learn more about it after you adapt to being a clerical worker."

Daly also restrained her smile at this time and said, "I can see that you are curious about the Extraordinary... but what you have to sacrifice to become an Extraordinary is far more than you can imagine."

"You might not feel much when I say this... Every year, we, the Mandated Punishers, the Mechanical Heart, and other similar inquisitional bodies, handle a quarter of the unholy incidents caused by Beyonders losing control."

"Moreover, most of these runaways are our teammates."

"Especially someone like you... Your quirk isn't 'luck'. If you become a Beyonder, this quirk will make it even easier for you to lose control."

"I suggest you return to Backlund. That way, you might only lose your freedom."

"But contact is extraordinary, even freedom and life become insignificant..."

"It's a blessing to be able to 'sleep peacefully' in human form."

Ms. Daly's words fell to the ground, and the atmosphere in the room became silent.

"A poor wretch who is always fighting against danger and madness...?" Jiang Zhe smiled slightly, somewhat understanding the heaviness of this sentence.

In fact, I still don’t understand much.

Because her inner desire to come into contact with extraordinary ideas has not wavered in the slightest.

"I won't give up..." Jiang Zhe said to the three extraordinary people in the room.

Time travel, gender change... After experiencing all these, can you be relatively safe as an ostrich?

Jiang Zhe doesn't think so.

But she had no one to tell these words to.

She was also afraid of danger, afraid of what these Beyonders described...

but……

I'm not willing to give in...

There is still so much she wants to do.
