Chapter 491 Large-scale deployment!
“This is possible!” a pacifist exclaimed excitedly. “This proves that true coexistence is possible!”
But the radicals refused to accept this reality, and their attacks became even more frenzied. With Zeta's help, Lynn moved swiftly through the vast underground space, dodging wave after wave of attacks.
"The exit is over there!" Zeta pointed in the direction.
But the path to the exit was blocked by two enormous symbiotes. They released intense bioelectricity in an attempt to prevent Lynn and Zeta from escaping.
“We’ll break through!” Lynn and Zeta coordinated their actions.
In the symbiotic state, Lynn was able to sense all of Zeta's abilities, including her resistance to bioelectricity. They rushed through the electric field, enduring immense pain, but successfully reached the exit.
"You cannot escape!" the radical's voice roared from behind. "We will find you and annihilate all who oppose us!"
But Lynn and Zeta had already broken out of the underground base and reached the surface of the ice. With Zeta's help, Lynn was able to move across the ice field at an astonishing speed, far exceeding the speed of his pursuers.
After several hours of fleeing, they finally reached a relatively safe distance.
“We succeeded,” Zeta said in Lynn’s mind. “Although the negotiations failed, we proved that humans and symbiotes can truly cooperate.”
“Yes,” Lynn responded, “but that also means the conflict will continue. The radicals won’t give up.”
“But at least now there is hope,” Zeta said. “Those three pacifists have seen our symbiosis, and they will reconsider their stance.”
Lynn sensed Zeta beginning to separate from his body, returning to her independent state. But this brief symbiotic experience had forged an unprecedented connection and trust between them.
“Thank you for saving me,” Lynn said sincerely.
“We are true partners now,” Zeta responded, “not just allies, but partners who understand and trust each other.”
Two days later, when Lynn and Zeta returned to the agreed location, the crew of the transport plane waiting there could hardly believe their eyes.
“Agent Lynn, what’s wrong?” the pilot asked. “You look different.”
“I’ve experienced something unprecedented,” Lynn replied, “and we’ve obtained some important information.”
On the return journey, Lynn reported the details of the Antarctic expedition to headquarters. Although diplomatic negotiations failed, the experience revealed many important pieces of information: there were indeed serious divisions within the symbiote, peace was possible, but the radicals were extremely stubborn.
“Most importantly,” Lynn emphasized in the report, “we have demonstrated that true symbiosis between humans and symbionts is possible. This opens up entirely new possibilities for future collaboration.”
When Lynn returned to the base in Brasilia, the team members excitedly greeted him.
“You really did it,” Sarah said, tears welling in her eyes. “You came back alive, and you brought back hope.”
“Not only that,” Peter observed Lynn, “there’s something different about you.”
“I’ve established a true partnership with Zeta,” Lynn explained. “This has changed our understanding of symbiotes and pointed the way for future collaborations.”
Emily began conducting medical examinations on Lynn, asking, "How has the symbiotic process affected your body?"
“There were no negative effects; on the contrary, it helped me understand the nature of symbiotes better,” Lynn replied. “They are not enemies, at least not entirely. We need to find ways to cooperate with pacifists while preparing to deal with the threat from radicals.”
The night after returning to the Brasilia base, Lynn sat alone in the command center's conference room, a world map and detailed information about Antarctica spread out on the table. His symbiotic experience with Zeta had given him a deeper understanding of the symbiote's way of thinking, which also gave rise to a bold idea.
“If direct diplomacy doesn’t work, perhaps we need to adopt a more subtle strategy,” Lynn muttered to himself.
Sarah pushed open the door and walked in. "Still worried about Antarctica?"
“It’s not that I’m worried, it’s that I’m thinking about new possibilities,” Lynn turned to her. “Do you think the ancient military tactic of ‘sowing discord’ would be effective in this situation?”
“A divide-and-conquer strategy?” Sarah sat down. “You mean, sowing discord within the symbiote?”
“It’s not about sowing discord, but about providing a reasonable option for the pacifists,” Lynn explained. “I’ve seen firsthand the divisions within them in Antarctica. Three out of seven council members are peace-loving. If we can offer them a solution that saves them face while also securing their practical benefits…”
“Could they break away from the radicals?” Sarah understood Lynn’s thoughts.
“That’s right, and this isn’t deception, but genuine mutually beneficial cooperation,” Lynn stood up and paced in front of the map. “The key is to show the pacifists that cooperating with humans is more beneficial to the long-term development of the symbiotic race than continuing the conflict.”
Just then, the other team members arrived one after another. Peter, Emily, Chen Kai, Carlos, and Emma all gathered in the conference room.
"I heard you have a new plan?" Peter asked.
“Yes, but this plan requires everyone’s cooperation, and even more so the support of governments around the world,” Lynn began to explain his ideas in detail.
“Since returning from Antarctica, I’ve been pondering a question: What do symbiotes truly need?” Lynn pointed to the map. “They’ve wandered for thousands of years; what do they crave most?”
“A safe habitat,” Emily replied.
“There are still resources for survival,” Carlos added.
“Absolutely right,” Lynn nodded, “and Antarctica provides both: a safe environment far from human habitation, and abundant energy and mineral resources.”
"But the problem is, they now occupy Antarctica, so why should they negotiate with us?" Chen Kai asked.
“Because mere occupation cannot provide long-term development and prosperity,” Lynn explained. “Symbiotes need more than just survival; they also need to develop their civilization. This requires interaction with the outside world, and the exchange of technology and resources.”
Alex then walked over from the lab. "Zeta said it's willing to help us develop a really compelling collaboration."
“Great!” Lynn said excitedly. “Then let’s start working on a concrete plan.” Over the next few hours, Lynn’s team developed a detailed strategy. The core of this plan was to provide the symbiote with a win-win-win solution: the symbiote would gain a legitimate habitat and development resources, humanity would gain access to scientific research in Antarctica, and Earth would avoid a devastating war.
“We need to prepare three things,” Lynn summarized. “First, tangible material support to demonstrate our sincerity. Second, a detailed draft cooperation agreement showcasing the specific mutually beneficial terms. Third, effective communication methods to ensure the information reaches every individual symbiote.”
The following morning, Lynn held emergency meetings with heads of government from around the world via encrypted communications.
“Leaders,” Lynn said in the video conference, “I propose an unprecedented diplomatic initiative. This may be the last chance to avert a global war.”
The US President spoke first: "Agent Lynn, your experience in Antarctica has given us a new understanding of the situation. Please explain your plan in detail."
“I suggest we proactively offer the symbiotic organisms a framework agreement for peaceful coexistence,” Lynn said, showing the prepared documents. “The core content is to recognize their right to reside in Antarctica, but require them to accept international supervision and share scientific research results with humanity.”
The British Prime Minister asked, "What are the specific terms?"
Lynn explained the main contents of the agreement in detail:
"First, human governments recognize the symbiont's legal right to reside in Antarctica, but only within designated areas. Second, the symbiont must report its entry into and exit from Antarctica to the International Antarctic Commission to ensure transparency. Third, the symbiont assists humans in conducting scientific research in Antarctica, including in the fields of climate, geology, and biology. Fourth, in exchange, humans provide the symbiont with specific resources and technical support needed for its development."
The French president expressed concern: "This is tantamount to recognizing extraterrestrial beings' sovereignty over Earth's territory, which is unprecedented in international law."
"But this also sets a precedent for establishing the first formal relationship between humanity and extraterrestrial civilizations," the German Chancellor supported. "If successful, it will be the most important diplomatic achievement in human history."
After lengthy discussions, the governments reached a consensus: to support Lynn's peace initiative and agree to provide the necessary resources and support.
“We will prepare an aid package containing a variety of essential survival supplies,” the UN Secretary-General concluded, “including energy equipment, medical supplies, food synthesis technology, and more. This will demonstrate our sincerity and ability to take concrete action.”
Over the next week, governments around the world began to urgently prepare for this unprecedented "alien aid plan".
In the United States, NASA and the military have collaborated to prepare advanced energy conversion equipment that can help symbionts extract energy more efficiently from the natural environment of Antarctica.
In Europe, scientists have prepared a complete set of biological research equipment to help symbionts better adapt to the Earth's environment while conducting their own scientific research.
In Japan, technical experts have prepared advanced communication equipment to establish a long-term communication network between humans and symbionts.
Meanwhile, Lynn and Alex collaborated with Zeta to begin producing propaganda materials. These materials needed to clearly convey humanity's peaceful intentions and concrete proposals in a way that the symbiotes could understand.
“Zeta says that symbiotes think more intuitively; they are better able to understand images and emotions than abstract textual concepts,” Alex translated.
“Then we’ll create visual promotional materials,” Lynn decided. “Not only will there be written descriptions, but also images, videos, and even emotional expressions.”
Emily made an important suggestion: "We should also include information on medical assistance. According to our research, many symbiotes suffer physical and psychological trauma during long periods of homelessness, and if we can provide treatment help..."
“This would be a powerful signal for peace,” Lynn agreed.
"How are these materials communicated to the symbionts in Antarctica?" Carlos asked about the practical aspects.
“We’ll use an airdrop,” Lynn replied, “using specially designed delivery devices to ensure the propaganda materials reach the vicinity of the symbiote base safely.”
“But radicals might prevent pacifists from accessing this information,” Peter noted with concern.
“That’s why we’re conducting a massive deployment,” Lynn explained. “Not just to Antarctica, but to all known symbiote outposts worldwide. Even if the radicals manage to control some areas, they can’t prevent all symbiotes from receiving the information.”
Two weeks later, the "Peace Initiative" officially began.
The first phase was the delivery of aid. Specially designed transport planes took off from various countries and dropped large quantities of aid supplies into known areas of symbiotic activity, such as Antarctica, Greenland, and Siberia.
These supplies are packaged in special containers that can withstand the harsh conditions of the polar environment and are equipped with simple communication devices that can send friendly signals to nearby symbionts.
"The first batch of supplies has been delivered," Michael reported via communicator. "Signal at all delivery points is normal."
The second phase was information dissemination. Thousands of propaganda materials were spread around the world through various means: airdrops, online distribution, and even delivery through some friendly symbiotic entities that had already established connections with humans.
Most importantly, Zeta used his special means of communication with his people to send the full contents of his peace initiative directly to the original council in Antarctica.
“Zeta said the message has been delivered,” Alex reported, “and it has caused quite a stir.”
The third stage is waiting for a response. This is the most stressful period because no one knows how the symbiote will react.
The effects came faster than expected. Just three days later, unusual symbiote activity began to appear around the world, but this time it was not aggressive; rather, it was a clear attempt at communication.
"Report from London: the underground symbiotes have begun using some kind of optical signaling system," the communications officer reported. "The signal pattern is complex, as if it's conveying some kind of message."
“Similar reports have been received from Tokyo,” another correspondent added, “and some symbiotes have actively approached the drop-off points.”
The most important news came from the monitoring station in Antarctica.
"We have detected large-scale energy fluctuations within Antarctica," the monitor reported. "It looks like a heated internal discussion or debate."
“This is exactly the effect we wanted,” Lynn said with satisfaction. “The peace initiative is sparking debate within the symbiote.”
Sure enough, a week later, Zeta received the first official response from Antarctica.
“A serious division has emerged within the Primal Council,” Alex translated Zeta’s message. “Three pacifist members are very interested in humanity’s proposals, particularly regarding scientific cooperation and long-term resource support.” (End of Chapter)
