“Let me introduce them,” Caravaggio said proudly. “This is ‘Lightning,’ who can control electricity; this is ‘Magnet,’ who specializes in manipulating metal; that is ‘Ghost,’ who has the ability to teleport short distances; and lastly, this is ‘Giant,’ whose strength is ten times that of an ordinary person.”

Lynn realized he faced an unprecedented challenge: four different supernatural abilities, each potentially lethal. He needed to quickly devise a strategy, leveraging his environment to his advantage, to combat these superhuman enemies.

"What do you want?" Lynn asked, while secretly observing the layout of the laboratory, looking for possible escape routes and usable items.

“It’s simple,” Caravaggio replied. “We need to know how much the FBI knows about Project Vulcan, and how many agents are involved in this investigation.”

“I won’t say anything,” Lynn replied firmly.

“I think you will,” Caravaggio sneered, then nodded to the four mutants. “Let him taste your power.”

The battle broke out instantly.

"Lightning" launched the first attack, raising his hands and unleashing a thick arc of electricity towards Lynn. Lynn quickly rolled to the left, the current striking the spot where he had just stood, leaving a charred mark on the metal floor. At the same time, the laboratory lights began to flicker due to the electrical interference.

Before Lynn could regain his footing, "Magnet" began his attack. The metal tables, chairs, and equipment in the laboratory began to vibrate violently, then flew towards Lynn like missiles. Lynn raised his gun and fired at "Magnet," but the bullet suddenly changed direction as it approached its target, deflected to the side by the magnetic force.

“Ordinary weapons are ineffective against us,” “Magnet” mocked.

Lynn realized that conventional shooting tactics were completely ineffective in this situation. He had to rethink his strategy. Just then, a huge metal cabinet came crashing down on him, and Lynn dodged in a panic, but "Ghost" suddenly appeared behind him.

Teleportation made "The Ghost's" attacks almost unpredictable. He swung a punch at the back of Lynn's head, but Lynn's FBI training made him instinctively sense the danger. He whirled around, blocking the attack with his elbow while simultaneously kneeing "The Ghost" in the abdomen.

But the "ghost" teleported away again, reappearing at the other end of the room.

“Your reaction is quick,” the Ghost said, “but can you handle the four of us?”

Then, the "giant" began to walk slowly and steadily toward Lynn. He didn't use any fancy attack methods, but every step he took made the floor tremble. Lynn knew that if this guy caught him, the consequences would be unimaginable.

Lynn quickly scanned the lab, looking for any usable environmental factors. He noticed a large chemical reagent storage cabinet in one corner, filled with various chemicals. If he could utilize these chemicals...
"Lightning" attacked again, this time simultaneously firing electricity from both hands in an attempt to block Lynn's path. Lynn charged toward the chemical reagent cabinet, the electricity relentlessly pursuing him, striking the metal equipment behind him with a piercing explosion.

Just as Lynn approached the chemical reagent cabinet, "Magnet" realized his intention. A large number of metal objects began to fly towards Lynn, attempting to stop him from getting close to the dangerous chemicals.

Lynn weaved through the rain of metal, a sharp piece of metal grazing his cheek and leaving a bloody mark. But he made it to the chemical reagent cabinet.

"Don't let him touch those chemicals!" Caravaggio realized the danger and warned loudly.

But it was too late. Lynn grabbed a bottle labeled "High-Concentration Nitric Acid" and threw it towards "Lightning." The bottle shattered in mid-air, spilling nitric acid onto "Lightning." When the current came into contact with the acid, a violent chemical reaction occurred, bursting forth with thick smoke and sparks.

"Ah!" Lightning screamed as his electrical abilities temporarily went out of control, with currents surging around him, forcing even his companions to swerve away.

Lynn seized the opportunity to grab more chemical reagents. He threw a bottle of ammonia at the "magnet" while picking up a bottle of alcohol to prepare for the "ghost's" next teleportation attack.

"Magnet" tried to control the bottle with magnetism, but the alcohol bottle was made of glass and was unaffected by magnetism. Ammonia splashed on him, and the pungent smell temporarily distracted him, making the magnetic control unstable.

The "ghost" reappeared behind Lynn, but this time Lynn was prepared. When he sensed the air turbulence behind him, he immediately splashed alcohol behind him and lit the lighter he was carrying.

The flames instantly ignited the alcohol, setting "Ghost's" clothes ablaze. He frantically patted the flames off his body, his teleportation ability temporarily malfunctioning due to panic.

Now only the "giant" remained. Seeing that his three companions had temporarily lost their fighting ability, he roared angrily and increased his speed as he charged towards Lynn.

Lynn knew he couldn't fight the "giant" by strength; he had to outsmart him. He noticed some reagents scattered on the laboratory floor, including a chemical he recognized—liquid nitrogen.

The "giant" swung his fist at Lynn, the force of the blow sending papers flying. Lynn narrowly dodged the attack, but the "giant's" fist struck the lab table, shattering it instantly.

Lynn rolled toward the liquid nitrogen container and quickly opened the valve. The ultra-low temperature liquid nitrogen began to spray out, forming a white mist.

“These tricks won’t work on me!” the giant roared, continuing his charge toward Lynn.

But when he stepped onto the liquid nitrogen-covered ground, the extreme cold made it incredibly slippery. The "Giant's" massive body lost its balance and crashed heavily to the ground. Lynn seized the opportunity to pour more liquid nitrogen onto the "Giant," and the extreme cold temporarily rendered the strong mutant unable to move.

"Impossible!" Caravaggio stared in shock as his four men were subdued. "You're just an ordinary person!"

“Perhaps,” Lynn said, panting, “but I have training, I have experience, and most importantly, I have justice in my heart.”

The laboratory was now a mess. "Lightning" was still treating the chemical burns, "Magnet" was squinting from the pungent smell of ammonia, "Ghost" was extinguishing the flames on his body, and "Giant" was temporarily immobilized by the liquid nitrogen.

But Lynn knew this wouldn't last long. These mutants' regenerative abilities were likely stronger than ordinary humans, and he had to get out of there as soon as possible.

“Sarah, I’m in the basement,” Lynn called through the communicator. “I need immediate support. I’ve discovered the core facilities of Project Vulcan.”

“Roger that, we’re looking for the basement entrance,” Sarah’s voice came through. “Hold on!”

Caravaggio, sensing the danger, began moving towards another exit deeper into the laboratory. "You think you've won? This is just the beginning! Project Vulcan is far larger than you imagine!"

Lynn wanted to give chase, but "Lightning" had begun to recover, and the electric arcs on his body became active again.

“You can’t escape,” Lightning said angrily, as electricity re-formed in his hand.

Lynn finds himself in a predicament. Although he has temporarily subdued four mutants, they are rapidly recovering, and Caravaggio is about to escape. He needs to find a way to both halt the enemy's pursuit and buy time for reinforcements.

His gaze fell on the large metal box labeled "Project Vulcan" in the center of the laboratory. If it contained experimental data or important equipment, destroying it could severely damage the entire project.

Lynn grabbed the remaining bottles of chemicals and began to prepare a makeshift explosive device. Although his chemical knowledge was limited, his FBI training included basic demolition techniques.

"What do you want to do?" Magnet asked warily, his vision returning.

“I’ll give you a surprise,” Lynn replied, igniting the prepared chemical mixture. “Stop him!” Caravaggio shouted from a distance.

Despite not being fully recovered, the four mutants still tried to stop Lynn. "Lightning" emitted a weak current, "Magnet" tried to control nearby metal fragments, "Ghost" endured the pain of burns and prepared to teleport, and "Giant" struggled to stand up from the ground.

But Lynn was faster. He threw the burning chemical mixture at the metal box and then rushed toward the lab's exit.

An explosion occurred behind Lynn; although not particularly violent, it was enough to damage the equipment inside the box. Flames and thick smoke instantly filled the entire laboratory, and the mutants lost track of Lynn in the smoke.

Lynn rushed out of the lab and found himself in a long, narrow underground corridor. There were exits at both ends of the corridor, but he wasn't sure which led to the surface. He heard angry roars and footsteps behind him; clearly, the mutants were chasing him.

He chose the left passage and began to run quickly. There were emergency lights on the corridor walls, but the light was dim, making escape more difficult. Lynn could hear sounds behind him, especially the heavy footsteps of the "giant," each step shaking the entire underground passage.

"He ran to the left!" someone shouted from behind.

Lynn quickened his pace, but soon realized the passage was a dead end. Ahead lay a thick concrete wall with no exit in sight.

“Oh no,” Lynn thought, he was trapped.

The footsteps behind him grew closer, and Lynn knew he had to find a way. He carefully observed his surroundings and found a small vent in the wall, large enough for one person to barely climb through.

Lynn quickly climbed up the ventilation shaft and disappeared into the ventilation duct just before the mutants arrived.

"He's in the ventilation system!" Magnet said angrily.

“Those pipes are too small for us to get in,” the giant said in frustration.

“The Ghost can teleport in,” Lightning suggested.

“The space in those pipes is too narrow for me to accurately locate the teleporting target,” Ghost said, shaking his head.

Lynn crawled forward through the ventilation duct. The duct was narrow, and he could only move forward using his elbows and knees for support. But it was relatively safe here; the mutants couldn't catch up for the time being.

Through the pipe, Lynn could hear voices coming from below; the mutants were discussing how to find him.

"Split up and seal off all exits," someone ordered, possibly Caravaggio. "He can't hide in the ventilation ducts forever."

Lynn continued crawling through the pipes, searching for an exit to the surface. A few minutes later, he discovered a vertical pipe leading upwards, possibly to the upper levels of the building.

Climbing vertical pipes is more difficult than crawling horizontally, but Lynn knew it might be his only chance to escape. He used the strength of his arms and legs to support his body, slowly and steadily climbing upwards.

When he climbed to a certain height, he heard a familiar voice—it was Sarah calling his name.

“Lynn! Where are you?” Sarah’s voice came from somewhere.

"I'm here!" Lynn shouted back, "Inside the ventilation system!"

“We’ve found the entrance to the basement, but it’s filled with thick smoke,” Sarah reported. “Are you alright?”

“I’m fine, but those mutants are still down there,” Lynn replied. “Be careful, they have special abilities.”

Lynn continued climbing and finally saw a ventilation shaft. Through the fence, he could see the moonlight outside. This must be the ground floor of the manor.

He forcefully pushed open the ventilation grille and climbed out. He found himself in the garden of the estate, not far from the main building. The estate was surrounded by FBI vehicles, their flashing red and blue lights standing out starkly in the night.

“Sarah, I’m out,” Lynn reported through the communicator, “in the back garden of the manor.”

“Great!” Sarah breathed a sigh of relief. “I’ll be right there.”

A few minutes later, Sarah arrived with a team of FBI agents and found Lynn.

“You look terrible,” Sarah said with concern, noticing the blood on Lynn’s face and his charred clothes.

“We’ve run into some trouble,” Lynn said briefly, “but I’ve obtained important information. There’s a ‘Project Vulcan’ lab in the basement, and four mutants with supernatural abilities.”

“Supernatural abilities?” Sarah frowned. “You mean like that person who controlled the flames yesterday?”

“More complex,” Lynn replied. “Electrical control, metal manipulation, teleportation, and superhuman strength. We need to reassess our strategy.”

"Where are those people now?" a SWAT team member asked.

“They should still be in the basement, but they may have escaped through other passages,” Lynn replied. “Caravaggio escaped too.”

Just then, the ground of the manor began to tremble slightly, and a muffled explosion was heard in the distance.

“What is that?” Sarah asked warily.

“They might be destroying evidence,” Lynn speculated. “We must get into the basement immediately and stop them from destroying any more documents.”

“But those mutants,” one agent said worriedly.

“We have a numerical advantage, and now we know their capabilities,” Lynn analyzed. “With the right strategy, we can deal with them.”

Lynn began to explain to the team in detail the abilities and characteristics of each mutant and possible countermeasures:

"'Lightning' can control electricity, but chemicals can interfere with his abilities. 'Magnet' can manipulate metal, so we need to use non-metallic weapons. 'Ghost' has the ability to teleport, but is limited in confined spaces. 'Giant' possesses immense strength, but low temperatures can affect his movements." (End of Chapter)
