“Now is the time to make a final decision,” Lynn sensed the dawn of victory.

Martin suddenly unleashed his full power. He raised his hands high, and all the ice and snow within a radius of hundreds of meters around him began to respond to his call. To everyone's astonishment, a massive waterspout formed in the center of the battlefield.

The waterspout was not only incredibly powerful, but also completely under Martin's control. It precisely attacked enemy mutants, posing no threat to the FBI agents.

The ice mutant attempted to resist, but his abilities proved insignificant against Martin. The metal-wielding mutant's attacks were also neutralized by the waterspout; the flying metal lost its power in the water.

"Surrender!" Lynn shouted to the enemy. "You have already lost!"

But the enemy mutants were clearly unwilling to admit defeat easily. They launched a final, frenzied attack, attempting to take everyone down with them.

At that moment, Martin made a startling decision. He suddenly retracted the waterspout and then condensed all the water into countless tiny ice needles, densely packed and suspended in the air.

“Final warning,” Martin’s voice sounded unusually authoritative in the cold wind, “If you don’t surrender, I won’t be so polite.”

Faced with such a shocking scene, the enemy mutants finally realized the difference in strength. The ice mutant was the first to stop attacking and raise his hands in surrender. Seeing this, the other mutants also gave up resistance.

"We won!" Emily shouted excitedly.

But Lynn knew the real mission wasn't over yet. "Michael, you and Jack are in charge of guarding these prisoners. Mark, you keep watch outside. Martin and I will go into the main building and find the victims and experimental data."

"Understood!" The team members immediately began to carry out the order.

Martin appeared somewhat tired after regaining his powers, but his mental state was excellent. "Lynn, I can only maintain that full-power burst for a maximum of five minutes. We need to hurry."

“That’s enough,” Lynn said firmly. “Let’s go in together and end this.”

The two walked towards the main building of the research station. At the entrance, they saw a heavy metal door with a complex electronic lock.

“Let me do it,” Martin said. He penetrated the electronic lock with moisture and then successfully damaged its internal structure through a cycle of freezing and thawing.

The door slowly opened, revealing strange mechanical noises and faint human voices inside. The two cautiously entered the building, preparing to face their final challenge.

Upon entering the main building, Lynn and Martin discovered that the interior structure was far more complex than it appeared from the outside. This was not an ordinary research station, but a meticulously designed underground complex. The entrance hall connected to multiple corridors, each leading to a different area, with signs on the walls indicating the names of various laboratories and functional areas in Russian and English.

The signs for "Biological Experiment Area," "Low Temperature Storage Room," "Data Processing Center," and "Personnel Dormitory" gave the two a clearer understanding of the scale of the base.

“This place is bigger than we expected,” Martin said in a low voice, “and judging from the architectural structure, most of the facilities are underground.”

Lynn nodded, carefully observing his surroundings. Surveillance cameras were mounted on the walls along the corridor, and the ceiling ventilation system was operating, emitting a low hum. More importantly, the air was filled with the smell of chemicals, indicating that some kind of experiment was indeed taking place here.

“We need to locate the victims,” Lynn said. “According to Emily’s description, the subjects were typically held in specialized isolation rooms.”

The two chose the corridor marked "Biological Experiment Area." After walking only a few steps, they heard footsteps and hushed conversations ahead. Lynn immediately signaled Martin to stop, and the two concealed themselves against the wall.

"The doctor has asked us to speed things up; all the experiments must be completed tonight," a male voice said in English.

"How are the new test subjects doing?" another voice asked.

"Most are still alive, but a few have begun to show symptoms of genetic breakdown. The doctor said this is normal; failure is part of success."

Hearing these conversations, Lynn's anger reached its peak. These criminals were treating innocent people like experimental animals, completely disregarding the value of human life.

“I counted, there are at least four people,” Martin assessed the situation ahead using his hearing. “They’re all ordinary people, with no signs of special abilities.”

Lynn gestured, indicating a quick raid. The two men stealthily approached the corner and then dashed out simultaneously.

Ahead was a relatively wide corridor where four armed men were patrolling. They were dressed in uniform black combat suits, carrying automatic rifles, and appeared well-trained. But they clearly hadn't anticipated that anyone would be able to breach the outer mutant defenses.

“FBI! Drop your weapons!” Lynn shouted, raising his pistol and aiming at the nearest enemy.

The enemy reacted quickly, immediately scattering and seeking cover while launching a counterattack. However, in the narrow corridor, their numerical advantage could not be fully utilized and instead became a disadvantage.

Relying on his years of combat experience, Lynn quickly moved behind a support pillar, avoiding the enemy's first volley of fire. Martin took a more direct approach, creating a thick wall of ice that blocked most of the bullets.

“Cover me!” Lynn said to Martin.

Martin acted immediately, and the ice wall began to move, advancing forward like a shield. Enemy bullets could leave marks on the ice wall, but they couldn't penetrate it completely.

Using this cover, Lynn quickly closed in on the enemy. His marksmanship was extremely accurate; almost every bullet hit its target. Although the enemies were wearing body armor, at such close range, the power of a pistol was enough to incapacitate them.

The first enemy was hit in the shoulder, and his weapon fell to the ground. The second enemy tried to throw a grenade, but Martin deflected it with water, and the grenade exploded far away from the group.

"Surrender!" Lynn shouted again. "You're surrounded!"

But the enemy was clearly well-trained and would not surrender easily. The remaining two continued to resist, one of them even attempting to activate some kind of alarm system.

Martin saw the attempt and immediately used water to hit the man's arm, stopping him. At the same time, Lynn approached from the side and struck the man on the head with the butt of his rifle, knocking him unconscious.

Seeing that all his comrades had been subdued, the last enemy finally laid down his weapon and surrendered.

“Very good,” Lynn quickly searched the enemy's equipment. “Martin, can you make sure they are temporarily incapacitated?”

Martin nodded and used ice to stabilize the four men's hands and feet to the ground. "They can't run for now, but the ice will melt in ten minutes."

“That’s enough,” Lynn said. “Let’s move on.”

The two continued down the corridor and soon arrived at the door marked "Biological Experiment Area." It was a heavy metal door with a sophisticated electronic lock and biometric system.

“This lock is rather complex,” Martin observed the lock. “I need more time to crack it.”

Just then, a voice came from the other side of the door. Someone inside spoke, sounding very anxious. "Subject 17 has shown a severe rejection reaction and needs immediate attention."

"The doctor's instructions were to continue the experiment and disregard the lives of the individuals."

"But if this continues, all the test subjects will die."

Hearing these conversations, Lynn realized the urgency of the situation. The victims were in grave danger, and they had to act immediately.

“Martin, can you go faster?” Lynn urged.

“I’ll do my best,” Martin said, concentrating as he used moisture to penetrate the electronic lock and then manipulate the circuitry through precise temperature control.

A few minutes later, the electronic lock clicked softly, and the door slowly opened. Inside was a huge laboratory, filled with complex scientific instruments and equipment. Even more astonishingly, in the center of the room were more than a dozen transparent cylindrical containers, each containing a person.

These people, both men and women of varying ages, were all in a state of some kind of coma. Their bodies were connected to various tubes and monitoring devices, making it look like an experimental scene from a science fiction movie.

“My God,” Martin whispered, “are these the victims?”

Lynn's anger erupted again, but he forced himself to remain calm. The most important thing now was to save these innocent people.

There were six researchers in the lab, and they all seemed flustered when Lynn and Martin suddenly appeared.

"FBI! Everyone, hands up!" Lynn shouted.

Although the researchers were frightened, they did not immediately surrender. One of the older men, who appeared to be in charge, attempted to destroy some important data.

“Stop him!” Lynn said to Martin.

Martin acted immediately, a stream of water precisely striking the man's wrist, rendering him unable to operate the computer. At the same time, Lynn quickly approached the other researchers, subduing them one by one with professional skill.

These researchers were ordinary people with no military training, and they were completely defenseless against the well-trained FBI agents. They were quickly apprehended.

"How are these test subjects doing?" Lynn asked the older researcher.

“I…I can’t say,” the researcher stammered, “the doctor will kill me.”

“If you don’t talk, I’ll arrest you right now,” Lynn threatened. “As an accomplice to bioterrorism, you will face life imprisonment.”

Under Lynn's threat, the researcher finally spoke. "Most of these test subjects are still alive, but their physical condition is very unstable. We injected them with gene-modifying agents in an attempt to stimulate mutant abilities."

"What's the success rate?" Martin asked.

“It’s very low,” the researcher admitted. “So far, only one subject has shown a faint sign of ability; the others are experiencing genetic collapse.”

Lynn looked at the victims in the transparent containers, his heart filled with sympathy and anger. These innocent people were being used as experimental subjects, enduring inhuman suffering.

“How do we disable these devices?” Lynn asked. “We need to rescue them.”

“We can’t just shut it down,” another young researcher said. “Their physiological state is very unstable right now; if the life support system is suddenly cut off, they could die.”

This put Lynn in a dilemma. If he didn't rescue the victims, they would continue to suffer the torment of the experiments; but if he rushed to rescue them, it might lead to their deaths.

"What conditions are needed for their safe transfer?" Martin asked.

“Specialized medical equipment and medications are needed to neutralize the effects of the gene-editing agents,” the senior researcher said, “but this process takes several hours.”

Lynn thought for a moment and decided to ensure the safety of the base first, and then deal with the issue of rescuing the victims.

“Martin, you stay here and watch them,” Lynn said. “I’ll go check other areas and make sure there are no more threats.”

Just then, another entrance to the laboratory suddenly opened, and eight armed men poured in. They had clearly heard the commotion and come to provide support.

"Watch out!" Martin shouted.

The new enemy was more professionally trained; they adopted standard tactical formations and attempted to encircle Lynn and Martin from two directions. However, in the complex environment of the laboratory, their tactical advantage was greatly diminished.

Using the experimental equipment as cover, Lynn began guerrilla warfare. His movements were completely unpredictable; he would sometimes fire from behind the equipment, and other times suddenly charge out to attack the enemy's flanks.

Martin played an even greater role. His abilities were put to full use in the laboratory filled with various liquids and cooling systems. The laboratory's sprinkler system became a weapon under his control, and he used various coolants to attack enemies.

"Ah!" An enemy was hit by the coolant controlled by Martin and instantly frozen.

Another enemy attempted to attack with a grenade, but Martin used water to change the grenade's trajectory, causing it to explode in a safe place.

Lynn took advantage of the chaos to get close to the enemy, and his close-quarters combat skills proved crucial in the confined space. He subdued one enemy with a joint lock, and knocked another unconscious with the butt of his gun.

"Surrender!" Lynn shouted to the remaining enemies. "Your reinforcements have been eliminated; continuing to resist is just pointless sacrifice!"

But these armed men were clearly highly trained and would not surrender easily. They continued to resist, even attempting to sabotage the experimental equipment to threaten the safety of the victims.

“They want to sabotage the life support system!” Martin warned.

Lynn reacted immediately, rushing toward the enemy who was trying to sabotage the equipment at incredible speed and subduing him before he could pull the trigger.

After ten minutes of fierce fighting, all the enemies were subdued. The laboratory was filled with the smell of gunpowder, but the important experimental equipment was intact, and the victims suffered no further harm.

“Well done,” Lynn said to Martin. “Now we need to continue searching other areas.”

They secured all the enemies and researchers with the ice shackles Martin had made, then continued exploring the rest of the base. (End of Chapter)
