Chapter 333 considers the Hulk a threat!
Lynn took off his soaking wet coat and hung it by the door. “You could say that. Black Hawk agents were more persistent than I expected. I had to play hide-and-seek with them in Central Park before finally shaking them off at the subway station.” He looked around. “Looks like you guys have already started working.”
Gwen handed her brother a towel. "Yes, we're preparing the content for the release. Are you sure no one's following you?"
Lynn dried her hair. "I'm sure. I used every counter-tracking technique imaginable, including several feints where I deliberately exposed myself and then shook them off. Unless they have superpowers, there's no way they could have followed me here."
The three gathered around the table in the living room, and Lynn quickly browsed through the information that Ethan and Gwen had compiled.
“These are powerful,” he nodded, “but we need a secure way to publish them. If we publish directly from here, they might be able to trace it back to the IP address.”
Gwen gave a confident smile. "I've got it." She walked to the computer. "I've set up a multi-layered proxy server system. The signal will hop through servers all over the world, making it virtually impossible to trace the source."
Lynn looked at his sister approvingly. "Your skills are getting better and better. However, I have a better idea." He walked to his office and took a special laptop from an encrypted drawer. "This is classified FBI equipment, using a special, strictly vetted account. If we release information through this account, not only will it be untraceable, but it will also immediately attract the attention of higher-ups."
Ethan stared at the computer in surprise. "Are you sure you want to do this? This could jeopardize your career."
Lynn's expression was resolute. "Some things are more important than profession. If Black Hawk is indeed conducting human experiments, attempting to create a controllable army of Hulks, then stopping them is the responsibility of every law enforcement officer, including me."
Gwen hugged her brother, touched. "Thank you, Lynn."
The three immediately got to work. Ethan took charge of the final editing, ensuring the article was clear and compelling; Gwen handled the technical aspects, preparing all the evidence documents for release; and Lynn used his special channels to ensure the information would attract maximum attention once released.
The rain intensified, shrouding the city outside the window in a curtain of water, making the streetlights appear blurry and distant. Inside, the three worked intently, the silence broken only by the clatter of keyboards and occasional bursts of conversation.
“We need to protect your identities,” Lynn said after a moment of thought. “Once this information is released, Black Hawk will frantically search for its source.”
Ethan stopped typing. "I understand, but readers need to know that this information is credible. Without a journalist's byline, the credibility is greatly reduced."
Lynn thought for a moment. “I have an idea.” He pulled up the details of the FBI account. “This account has a high level of credibility internally. We can release the information under the name of the ‘FBI Special Task Force,’ without mentioning any specific individuals. This protects you while maintaining the official nature of the information.”
Gwen nodded. "That's actually better. If it looks like a leak from inside the federal government, the media will pay more attention."
They continued working, adjusting the format and tone of the article to make it appear as the result of an official internal investigation. After several hours of effort, the final version was finally completed.
Lynn gave the article and accompanying evidence a final check, making sure there was nothing that could directly jeopardize Ethan and Gwen. “Ready?” he asked, his fingers hovering over the keyboard.
Ethan and Gwen looked at each other, then nodded simultaneously. "Ready."
Lynn pressed the send button. A few seconds later, the system confirmed that the information had been successfully published to multiple high-impact news platforms and social media.
“It’s done,” Lynn said softly, shutting down the computer. “Now we wait and see the reaction.”
The three waited in silence, each lost in their own thoughts. The torrential rain outside continued, but the sound of the rain seemed to grow more distant, as if the whole world was holding its breath, awaiting the moment the truth would be revealed.
Within half an hour, the reaction began. First, it spread explosively on social media, then major news websites quickly followed up, and finally even television news interrupted its broadcasts with urgent reports. Everyone was discussing the revelation from the "FBI Special Task Force" about Black Hawk International's secret human experiments and its hunting plan for the Hulk.
Gwen monitored the various news channels through the safe house's television. "It looks like it's caused a sensation. Every major channel is reporting on it."
Ethan scrolled through his phone. "Social media's gone crazy. '#BlackHawkTruth' and '#SaveTheHulk' are trending."
Lynn monitored the FBI's internal response through a secure passage. "Headquarters is in an uproar. The higher-ups have ordered an immediate, full investigation into Black Hawk International. Meanwhile, someone is trying to find out the true identity of this 'special team,' but the security measures I've set up should protect us for a while."
Ethan sat on the sofa, watching the news scrolling across the television, a complex mix of emotions washing over him. "I've always dreamed of this moment, when the truth is revealed, when the public finally understands the real Hulk. But now that it's actually happened, it feels...unreal."
Gwen sat down beside him and gently took his hand. "It's true, Ethan. You did it. We did it."
Lynn stood by the window, looking at the city in the rain, his expression serious. "This is just the beginning. Black Hawk won't give up easily. They have the resources and the influence; they will do everything in their power to suppress this information and eliminate what they perceive as 'whistleblowers.'"
Gwen looked at her brother with concern. "Do you think they'll come looking for us?"
Lynn turned around, her expression resolute. "They will try, but we've already taken the lead. The use of the FBI account will make them think it's an inside leak, at least in the short term, and their attention will be focused on the agency's internal workings. This gives us time—time to plan our next move."
Ethan asked, "What's next? We've already revealed the truth and attracted public attention."
Lynn walked to the table and spread out a city map. “Now, we need to find Bruce Banner before Black Hawk finds him. If they capture Banner, even with public attention, they can still continue their experiments in secret. We need to ensure his safety.” Ethan stood up and walked to the map. “According to my investigation, Banner was last seen in a low-income neighborhood in the Bronx. He appears to be working as a volunteer doctor at a clinic there, using an alias.”
Gwen joined the discussion, saying, "I found from the Black Hawk files that they believed Banner would be drawn to places with medical needs but lacking resources. He seems to be using his medical knowledge to help those who can't access proper healthcare."
Lynn pondered, marking several possible locations on the map. "This fits the psychological profile. A scientist burdened by an experimental accident, trying to compensate by helping others." He turned to Gwen. "Can you find their search pattern for Banner in the Black Hawk files?"
Gwen nodded and walked to the computer. "I'll give it a try. If we understand their search strategy, we can predict their actions and maybe find Banner before they do."
Ethan then began organizing all the information he had gathered about Banner, trying to figure out a way to contact him. "The problem is, even if we find him, how do we convince him we're there to help him? He's been on the run from the authorities and Black Hawk for so long, he's bound to be very distrustful of anyone who gets close to him."
Lynn pondered for a moment. "We need a reason he can't refuse." He looked out the window at the rain, and an idea began to form. "We need to prove to him that we know the truth and that we're on his side."
Gwen looked up from her computer. "I've got an idea. We can use the information that was just released. If Banner follows the news, he'll definitely see these reports. We can insert a message that only he can understand into the reports—a code—to tell him that we know who he is and want to help him."
Ethan's eyes lit up. "That's a great idea! We can post a specific message on social media, using scientific terminology that Banner is familiar with or keywords from his past research."
Lynn nodded, agreeing with the plan. "This could work. But we need to be careful not to be too obvious, lest we attract Black Hawk's attention."
The three continued to discuss the details, formulate a plan, and prepare to contact Banner and ensure his safety.
Meanwhile, media outlets throughout the city were frantically reporting on this explosive news. On television screens, serious anchors were analyzing evidence released by the FBI special task force, experts were urgently summoned for discussions, and discussions on social media were escalating.
In every corner of New York City, people were talking about this astonishing revelation. In cafes, offices, and subway stations, the Hulk and Blackhawk International became the talk of the town. Public opinion began to shift, with more and more people questioning previous negative reports about the Hulk and wondering if he was really as dangerous as the official accounts claimed.
On the other side of the city, a thin man wearing a hat and glasses sat in a small café, quietly watching the news report on the television on the wall. His eyes never left the screen, his expression gradually shifting from surprise to contemplation. This man was Bruce Banner, one of the most dangerous and misunderstood men in the world.
When the news broadcast footage of "Black Hawk Down's international hunt for the Hulk," his hand trembled slightly, spilling some coffee from his cup. He quickly glanced around to make sure no one had noticed his reaction, then took a deep breath and tried to remain calm.
Banner had been on the run, trying to escape his pursuers and avoid any pressure or anger that might trigger his transformation into the Hulk. But now, this revelation changes everything. Someone knows the truth; someone is on his side. Perhaps, just perhaps, he no longer has to face all this alone.
He quietly left the café, disappearing into the bustling streets of New York, his mind racing. In this city after the rain, different forces were converging: Lynn, Ethan, and Gwen's battle for the truth; Black Hawk International's secret plans; and the fate of a scientist forced to conceal his true identity. A contest of heroes, monsters, and humanity had begun, and New York City would become its battlefield.
At FBI headquarters, an emergency meeting is underway. Senior officials are discussing the mysterious "special team" and the information they've released. Some suspect an internal leak, others believe it could be a hacking attack, but no one can deny the authenticity and seriousness of the evidence.
“We need to launch an immediate investigation into Black Hawk International,” a senior official said. “If these allegations are true, we are facing not just the illegal activities of a private company, but a national security issue.”
Meanwhile, at Black Hawk International's secret headquarters, an equally urgent meeting was underway. The company's top executives were grim-faced, as screens displayed reports from major media outlets.
“Find out who this ‘FBI task force’ is,” a middle-aged man in a suit coldly ordered, “at any cost. Meanwhile, expedite Project Emerald Fist. We don’t have much time left.”
the other side.
Suddenly, the television in the safe house emitted a rapid news alert, and the three of them immediately turned their attention to the screen.
"Breaking news!" the female anchor's voice was tense and professional. "The Hulk has just been spotted in Midtown Manhattan. According to witnesses, the Hulk appears to be in a state of extreme rage and has already caused damage to several buildings. Police and emergency responders are on their way to the scene. Citizens are urged to stay away from the area."
A blurry image captured by a mobile phone appeared on the screen: a huge green figure moving between buildings, with explosions and screams coming from afar.
“My God,” Ethan stood up, staring at the screen, “this is exactly what they wanted.”
Lynn frowned. "What do you mean?"
“Black Hawk,” Ethan explained quickly, “the information we released has put enormous pressure on them, and they need to retaliate. What better way to prove their point than with a Hulk ‘ravaging’ the area? It would make the public believe that the Hulk is indeed a threat that needs to be controlled or eliminated.”
Gwen's fingers flew across the keyboard. "There's a reversal on social media; many are saying this proves the Hulk is dangerous and our leaks were misleading."
Lynn walked to the equipment cabinet, took out his FBI gear, including firearms and communications equipment, and said, "I need to see it for myself."
“Lynn, it’s too dangerous!” Gwen said worriedly.
Lynn inspected the firearms, making sure everything was in order. "If Ethan's theory is correct, then Banner is in grave danger. Black Hawk will likely use this opportunity to try and capture him." He looked at Ethan. "How much do you know about Banner's transformation?" (End of Chapter)
