Chapter 300 Mutants Created Using Potions
Lynn's face turned deathly pale, his hands hanging limply at his sides on the bed. He struggled to close his eyes, trying to calm himself and recall the events leading up to the plane crash. In that instant, Scott did indeed have a chance to escape using his teleportation, but he hadn't expected Scott to choose to flee just as the plane was about to crash, leaving them to bear the consequences alone.
“Damn it.” Lynn gritted his teeth, his voice low. “He escaped again.”
Mark stood up and sighed. "We've done our best, Lynn. You know Scott is just too capable; we can't control everything. But he will come back; he will never give up."
Lynn didn't answer; his heart was heavy. Yes, Scott had escaped, but he knew very well that Scott's next target would likely be even more dangerous and difficult to deal with. The Obsidian Corporation behind it all, the organization involved in mutant genetic experiments, still loomed over him like an insurmountable shadow.
"What do we do next?" Lynn finally raised his head and looked at Mark, a resolute glint in his eyes.
Mark's expression remained grave; he clearly understood that this question wasn't easy to answer. "We can only continue the investigation, searching for more information about Obsidian and Scott. Now, we have only one goal: to find Scott's hiding place and eliminate this threat completely."
Lynn took a deep breath; his body was still in pain, but he forced himself to stand up. "I can't just lie here like this; I have to keep investigating." His voice was firm, and his eyes showed no wavering.
Mark grabbed him, his voice tinged with anxiety: "Lynn, you're not fully recovered yet. Now is not the time to take risks. Scott has escaped; you need to rest."
“Rest?” Lynn sneered. “Rest? If I don’t continue the pursuit now, Scott could threaten this city again at any time. You know the power behind him, and you know the situation we’re facing right now. We can’t waste any more time.”
Mark seemed to realize Lynn's determination. He sighed and shook his head. "Alright, if you insist, I'll stay with you. However, we need to be more careful from now on. Scott will definitely not reveal himself easily."
Lynn nodded, looking out the window. Night had fallen, and the city lights twinkled in the distance. In that instant, Lynn felt a heavy responsibility on his shoulders. He couldn't let his guard down; the threat from Scott and the Obsidian Group was far from over.
Shortly after, Lynn and Mark left the hospital and returned to FBI headquarters. Lynn sat in his office, his computer screen flashing with data and documents. The only sounds in the empty office were the tapping of the keyboard and the occasional footsteps of police officers. Lynn's fingers flew across the keyboard, sifting through all the information on Scott and the Obsidian Group. He wouldn't let any lead slip by.
He knew that Scott was planning his next move, and that they might be just one step away from uncovering the truth about this dark experiment.
"We have to find him," Lynn muttered to himself, his eyes hardening with determination.
the other side.
Scott stood in the dimly lit basement, surrounded by a heavy atmosphere and a strange chemical smell. His gaze was calm and sharp, as if he were weighing something. The basement walls were covered with strange symbols and formulas. The dim light illuminated a simple workbench piled high with various instruments and bottles. In the corner sat a large glass container filled with some unknown liquid, its surface displaying strange bubbles and colors.
Standing before Scott was a middle-aged man, his face haggard and his clothes tattered, clearly in a near-comatose state. His eyes were slightly open, but his face was expressionless, looking both pained and confused. The man's arms were strapped to the workbench, clearly unable to break free.
Scott slowly approached him, holding a silver vial. The vial contained a viscous liquid with a deep blue sheen, shimmering faintly. Scott glanced at the opening, a cold smile playing on his lips, then gently swirled the vial to observe the liquid's reaction.
“This drug will give you power, make you strong, but the price is that your body will no longer belong to you,” Scott said in a low voice, his tone cold and mocking.
The man's eyes widened slightly, as if he was beginning to react to his surroundings, but he remained speechless. Scott ignored his reaction, skillfully opened the bottle, and took out a syringe.
“Don’t worry, the pain is temporary. Once you get through this, you will become stronger than you think,” Scott murmured to himself, as if talking to a lifeless man.
Without hesitation, he aimed the needle at the man's neck and gently injected the liquid. The medicine quickly entered his body, and the man's body trembled slightly, but quickly calmed down. Scott stood there, calmly observing the liquid's reaction within the man's body.
As the drug entered his body, the man's skin began to change rapidly. First, it turned pale, then gradually became red and swollen, as if stimulated by some powerful chemical substance. The man's face began to contort, and his body underwent drastic changes as the drug took effect.
“Relax, it won’t take long.” After saying this, Scott turned around and began adjusting some instruments on the lab table. He knew the effects of the drug were about to appear, and this would be key to his victory over Lynn.
As time went on, the man's body became increasingly twisted and mutated. His limbs began to grow abnormally strong, his skin gradually developed textures resembling lizard scales, the muscles on his back began to swell, and the previously confused look in his eyes gradually cleared, replaced by a beast-like ferocity and violence.
The man opened his mouth and let out a low growl, a sound like a beast's howl from the depths. Scott smiled slightly, seemingly satisfied with the change before him.
“Mutant,” Scott muttered to himself, a smug glint in his eyes. “You will become my weapon against Lynn.”
Suddenly, the man broke free from the restraints binding his hands and feet on the workbench, leaping to his feet. His body writhed violently in the air, like a beast awakened from its slumber, finally finding an outlet for release. His eyes bloodshot, his facial muscles contorted, and he let out a series of chilling roars.
“Very good.” Scott smiled, looking with satisfaction at the mutant who had become violent before him. “You have fully adapted to the serum. Now, you will be my most powerful weapon.”
The mutant growled, seemingly not fully aware of what had just happened. His movements were chaotic, his body trembling violently, as he paced around the laboratory like a runaway beast, knocking over some instruments on the table. A tense and dangerous atmosphere began to fill the entire room.
Scott walked to the side, opened an iron gate, and gently patted the mutant's shoulder. "You will be following me and helping me complete my next mission. I know you have enough power to deal with Lynn; as for the rest, leave it to me." The mutant looked up, his eyes devoid of any human emotion, filled only with a violent and bloodthirsty desire. He swung his unusually powerful limbs, seemingly no longer understanding human language, only sensing the commands Scott issued.
“Let’s go, we’re going somewhere.” Scott smiled coldly, turned and walked toward the iron gate. “Lynn is closing in, we can’t let him get any closer to what we’ve been doing.”
The mutant roared and followed Scott out of the basement. A chilling atmosphere filled the air, and this was just the beginning.
……
Meanwhile, Lynn was still recovering in the hospital. Although his physical pain had subsided somewhat, the unease in his heart remained. The plane crash made him feel the breath of death, and as he drew closer to the truth, he also felt the danger of the manhunt more clearly.
“Lynn, take a rest,” Mark said softly, sitting on the edge of the bed. “You need to rest now; your recovery is the most important thing.”
Lynn nodded slightly, but his eyes still betrayed his anxiety. "Scott has escaped, and Obsidian is still orchestrating everything behind the scenes. I can't let him escape any longer."
Seeing this, Mark sighed. "We've done our best, Lynn. Although Scott escaped, we also exposed some clues about him. Next, we will continue to track his movements. We haven't fully figured out the forces behind the Obsidian Group yet."
Lynn shook his head, his gaze hardening. "We can't delay any longer. Scott will definitely take further action. Only by capturing him can we stop this disaster."
Mark hesitated for a moment, but ultimately said nothing more. He knew that Lynn had made up his mind; this opportunity, which he couldn't afford to miss, concerned not only his personal safety but also the fate of the entire city and even more people.
“Okay, let’s keep chasing,” Mark said in a low voice.
Just then, hurried footsteps sounded outside the hospital. A young agent in an FBI uniform rushed in, holding a document in his hand, his face showing anxiety.
"Detective, we just received intelligence." The agent quickly walked to Lynn's bedside. "We've discovered that Scott may be planning something bigger. He just turned a middle-aged man into a mutant in the underground lab, seemingly in preparation for dealing with you and Mark."
Lynn sat bolt upright in bed, his face instantly turning deathly pale. "What is he doing?"
The agent handed the file to Lynn. "According to our intelligence, Scott is preparing to send this new mutant to deal with you, and the operation may take place within the next few hours. We cannot pinpoint his location, but he seems to be sending signals to the outside world, preparing for the next step of the plan."
Lynn gripped the document tightly, a hint of calm and determination flashing in his eyes. "Alright, continue tracking his movements and stay in touch." He got out of bed and began preparing his equipment. "Mark, we can't wait any longer; we must act immediately."
Mark stood up and nodded solemnly. "Okay, let's work together to resolve this."
The two quickly left the hospital and drove towards the potential activity area of the Obsidian Group.
Lynn and Mark sped through the city streets, their tires screeching on the wet pavement, a palpable tension filling the air. As they approached Scott's likely hiding place, Lynn's heart pounded, his mind replaying every move Scott had made and the various conspiracies of the Obsidian Group behind him.
“Mark, stay alert, we’re almost there.” Lynn’s voice was resolute, his eyes fixed on the distance. His heart was no longer at peace. Although their target was clear, he knew that Scott would not be easily captured.
Mark didn't respond, only gripping the steering wheel tightly, his eyes scanning the surroundings warily. The city streets were empty and silent, the surrounding buildings gradually becoming desolate. Lynn glanced out the car window, trying to spot anything unusual. He already had a premonition that today's operation was unlikely to go smoothly.
“Scott won’t give up so easily; he’ll create obstacles,” Mark suddenly spoke, breaking the silence. “We need to be careful.”
The words had barely left his mouth when a low, unseen sound came from outside the car window, followed by a sudden, violent jolt. Lynn reacted swiftly, grabbing the handrail inside the car, a look of alarm flashing in his eyes. "Mark, brake!"
Mark slammed on the brakes without hesitation, and the car came to an instant stop. A screeching metallic scraping sound came from behind, as if something had violently struck the rear of the car. Lynn quickly got out of the car and rushed to the back. Just as he opened the car door, a huge impact suddenly came from behind. He barely had time to react before he was slammed to the side, his body crashing violently into the roadside wall.
"Lynn!" Mark jumped out of the car and rushed towards him, but Lynn had already stood up, gripping his gun tightly. He looked back and saw a massive figure walking towards them, enormous and muscular, like a monster crawling out of hell. The man's skin was a dark green, shimmering with reptilian scales, and his spine resembled protruding bone spurs, sending chills down one's spine.
Lynn's heart sank. This was the mutant Scott had created using the drug. This monster was clearly far more powerful than any enemy Lynn had ever encountered.
"Stay calm, Mark," Lynn said in a low voice, though his tone was calm, his eyes betrayed a hint of tension that could not be ignored.
The mutant let out a low growl and suddenly lunged at them. Mark fired quickly, but the bullets were almost ineffectively stopped by the mutant's tough skin. Without hesitation, the mutant pounced on Mark, grabbing his shoulder and slamming him to the ground. (End of Chapter)
