Chapter 374 Goodbye Randall

Many bishops and priests looked in surprise at the place where Randall's gaze was directed, but there was no one there at all.

"Your Holiness, who are you speaking to?"

"High Priest Karl asked."

Randall frowned slightly. He realized that no one else seemed to be able to see the distorted and blurry phantom in front of him except himself. Could it be that he was seeing things wrong?

No, Randall possessed an innate, extraordinary intuition; he didn't believe he could be wrong.

"It's alright, you can go now."

Priest Soya, who had originally wanted to stay, could only leave with everyone else, feeling a sense of loss, as if he should have been kept by His Holiness the Pope.

After everyone had left, Randall slowly stood up and walked towards the illusory figure.

"Who are you? Why are you here?"

The phantom slowly emerged, revealing Li En's true appearance.

Randall's pupils narrowed slightly. "Lyon Moria?"

The next second, before Randall could finish speaking, his body inevitably began to disintegrate because he had looked directly at the god.

Rings of fleshy buds appeared on Randall's fair and delicate skin. These buds seemed to have grown legs and were trying frantically to escape and leave Randall's body.

His brain throbbed with excruciating pain. Randall collapsed to his knees, clutching his head and screaming in agony. But his voice couldn't travel, as if some mysterious force had severed all connection between the place and the outside world.

Thick black mist was seeping from between Randall's fingers.

The scream that escaped his throat suddenly changed tone, turning into some kind of inhuman shriek—the tepid buds that were writhing on the surface of his skin suddenly swelled up, and fine scales cut through the epidermis and emerged.

A cross-shaped gash appeared on the back of Randall's neck, and white bone spurs pierced through the flesh and blood.

"No, you are..."

Broken guttural sounds mixed with blood splattered into the grooves of the stone steps.

His eyes were covered with spiderweb-like blood vessels, and his pupils were split into dozens of tiny rhombuses, each fragment reflecting Li En's face.

The festering fingertips dug deep into the cracks in the stone, staining the marble floor a strange purplish-red.

Holy light and healing magic enveloped Randall in an attempt to repair his broken body, but the healing effects were woefully inadequate.

Randall turned to run away, realizing that the person in front of him was not Lyon Moria, who was about to be judged, but an unknown god. He could not stay here any longer and had to escape.

The will to survive ignited Randall's potential. He dragged his mutated, monstrous body outwards, like a lump of rotting flesh writhing on the ground.

By burning the divinity within his body, the pile of rotten flesh finally stopped spreading outwards. As long as he left the domain of this unknown evil god, he could be reborn.

"How disheveled you are, Randall. This is probably the second time I've seen you so disheveled."

Li En sighed, reaching out his hand. A beam of light pierced through Randall's body, like a bullet, passing precisely between Randall's beating heart.

Randall collapsed to the ground in despair. He never imagined that he would die so easily at the hands of an unknown evil god.

Before he could even recall his short life, his consciousness vanished completely.

When Randall opened his eyes again, he thought he would be in hell, but he saw Li En's familiar yet unfamiliar face.

His eyes still held a hint of confusion; the surrounding environment felt utterly unfamiliar to him, until Li En spoke...
"Randall Clyster, remember everything that belongs to you."

A flood of memories rushed in, instantly filling Randall's empty mind.

"Randall, Joz, come on! Let's see who can reach the summit first. Whoever gets up there first will be Selena's dance partner tomorrow."

"Hall, Joz, you're going to lose to me."

"You three, slow down, wait for me. Don't be so willful, okay? I've already chosen my dance partner, I want to dance with Randall."

“Selena, this isn’t fair. I got up here before him.”

"But I just like Randall."

"Damn it, Randall, what did you use to please Selena?"

"Cheating, this is cheating."

...

“Randall, you are the most talented child in our Clyster family. You are the most promising candidate to become a Golden Believer. Do you know what that means?”

“Don’t blame your parents. You must enter the Unsullied House. Only the Unsullied are the closest to the gods. Randall, you will serve the great God Tiger for the rest of your life. You must shoulder the responsibility of restoring the glory of the Clyster family. If you do not become the High Priest, our family will be ridiculed forever.”

"Mom and Dad, please, I don't want to be an Unsullied, I don't want to go to the Unsullied House, I don't want to serve God Tiger, I just want to be with Selena, please, don't send me there."

"Randall, you'll understand in the future that we did this for your own good."

"Why, why me?"

"Randall, your value lies in contributing to Kleist. Don't be willful; God has chosen you."

"I don't want to, I don't want to, let me go."

...

"Randall, welcome to the Immaculate Institute. You all have a bright future ahead of you, and a merciful God will guide you to see a new future."

"I... have no future."

...

"Randall, the new emperor has been crowned. It's Joz Frank. It's incredible. I thought he would be the least likely of all the princes to succeed to the throne."

"Joz? I should congratulate him."

...

"Randall, that damned preacher lied to us. The Unsullied are not the closest to God at all. Waaah, what should I do, Randall? I want to leave the Unsullied House. I want to leave here."

"Once you become a Silver Believer, you can achieve self-healing and become a whole person again. Richards, don't give up."

...

"Randall, His Majesty the Emperor is to marry the Empress, Miss Selena from the Green family."

"What did you say?"

"Randall, why are you so agitated? Miss Selena and His Majesty the Emperor are childhood sweethearts, isn't it perfectly normal for them to get together?"

"No, no, Selena won't marry Joz, she won't."

...

"Randall, Selena and Joz are married. I'm leaving this sad place. I'm going to the battlefield. I'm not the eldest son in the family, so I can't inherit the title. Perhaps on the battlefield, I can hope to make new achievements. I hope you can wait for me to come back, my dearest friend."

"Hall, come back alive."

"Randall, why...why did you kill me? I was your friend. We went through the darkest period of the Immaculate Court together. Now that the Immaculate Court is destroyed and we are both free, why did you kill me?"

“It is precisely because we went through the darkest times together that I cannot let you live. You shall be buried along with my memories, Richards.”

...

"Randall, what do you want to do? You unfilial son, I am your father, are you going to commit patricide?"

"Dad, Mom, you won't be lonely. I will send the entire Crest family down to keep you company."

...

"The candidate for the 8th Pope of the Holy Empire is Randall Kleist."

"Congratulations, Randall."

“Thank you, Hall, but this is just the shortlist. I will be competing against three other candidates.”

"If you need money or manpower, just tell me. I am now Earl Hall, a man of great military achievements."

"We will stand together at the highest point."

...

“Randall, you really should go see Selena. Her child, Mary, is lovely, and she's pregnant again. His Majesty the Emperor treats her quite well.”

"Hall, you shouldn't have mentioned her name in front of me."

...

"Randall, are you really not going? It's Selena's funeral."

"This is the most crucial moment of the campaign, and I will not let anything distract me."

"Well, I hope your dream comes true and you become the eighth Pope. Congratulations in advance."

...

"Your Holiness, this is Count Hall's wedding invitation to you. Are you really not going?"

"My not going is the best blessing I can give him."

...

“Randall, what are you doing? Even if you are the Pope now, you have no right to execute me. I am the Emperor of the Holy Empire, I am Joz Frank.”

"No...no...don't come any closer, Randall, we're friends, have you forgotten? Me, you, Hall, we used to be best friends."

“I know you resent me for taking Selena away, but you can’t blame me. Who told you to disappear for so long? Selena thought you were dead and was heartbroken. I stayed with her to comfort her. I made her the most honored woman in the empire. She is the empress. I gave her all my love.”

“Joz Frank, do you really think I don’t know that you spread the word that the Unsullied are the men closest to God? You bewitched my parents and made them send me to the Unsullied House? You cut off all possibilities between me and Selena? It was you, you did all of this, just to get Selena. You never considered Hall and me your friends.”

“Randall, you can’t blame me. If I didn’t marry Selena, how could I become the new emperor? I had my own reasons, and you have to understand me. I also gave up my true love for Selena. I killed Alice with my own hands. Do you know what that feels like? I also had to pretend to be in love with Selena every day and have children with her that I didn’t like. You have no idea how much pain I was in. Every night, I could hear Alice crying.”

"Then let me end your suffering, Joz. I never want to see your disgusting face again."

"No, no, you can't kill me, Mary, Mary, go tell Hall and James, tell them to come and save me... Mary, why aren't you moving?"

“Dad, because I really hate you. Uncle Randall is more like my father than you.”

“Mary! No, you can’t do this to your father! I am your father, Randall is just using you.”

"Mary, close your eyes."

"Randall, you can't do this to me. Hall and Selena will never forgive you."

"I don't need anyone's forgiveness, I just want you dead."

…Randall recalled everything that belonged to him, including how he rose step by step to the position of Pope, and why he gave up a promising future to become a follower of the god Mohan and help Mohan collect gifts.

Meanwhile, Li En also experienced Randall's memories, which can be considered a side effect of the "Hand of God".

This time, Li En understood Randall somewhat, why he had gradually turned from a naive boy into an evil pope.

As the saying goes, "If you haven't experienced suffering yourself, don't advise others to be kind."

Of course, Li En would not forgive Randall for being his enemy because of this, but since he had already killed Randall once, they were even.

This time, Randall was resurrected solely to allow him to resurrect the god Mohan.

Randall's bewildered eyes regained their clarity, only to become murky again. Tears had already welled up in the corners of his eyes, not tears of new life, but tears shed from the pain of being lost in memories.

"Why...why didn't you just kill me?"

Randall looked at Li En and asked painfully.

“Randall, I want to tell you that your thinking is correct. Our world is not the only single world that exists. Besides this world, there are many parallel worlds. Whether it is you or me, there are countless different possibilities. Perhaps you are suffering in this world, but in another world you are living the life you have always dreamed of. You and Selena are together, married and have children, living the most ordinary life.”

Li En said slowly.

Randall stared blankly at Lee En. "Me, marry Selena, have children?"

Li En nodded. "There were other lives too. You still became the Pope, but you didn't meet me. You resurrected Selena with your own power, but Selena resented you."

"She...does hate me."

Randall lowered his head, recalling Selena, whom he had locked in the basement and who had repeatedly tried to commit suicide.

"However, soon all of these possibilities will cease to exist, because our world, and the worlds parallel to ours, will be destroyed by the gods."

Li En suddenly said.

Randall looked up, his pupils slightly constricted, staring at Lee En in fear.

He had no doubt about Li En's words, not only because he was Randall resurrected by Li En using the Hand of God, but also because Randall had witnessed Li En's true power before.

Such a powerful deity has no reason to deceive itself.

"You came to me because you saw a turning point in me, right? Please tell me what I should do?"

Randall asked earnestly, willing to give everything to protect that sliver of possibility between himself and Selena, and to allow his parallel self and Selena to continue living peacefully.

"Yes, I need you to resurrect the god Mohan."

Li En revealed the purpose of his trip.

“The God of Mohan? But… I haven’t yet collected all the gifts that can resurrect Him.”

Randall said honestly.

"It's okay, everything you need is here."

Li En waved his hand, and the ten gifts—[Fairy Tale Book], [Ear of Wisdom], [Ear of Foolishness], [Eye of the Past], [Eye of the Future], [Hand of God], [Ripper], [Whip of the Azure Dragon], [House of Happiness], and [Door]—floated in mid-air.

"Oh, there's still one thing missing, the [Bewitching Mouth], shouldn't you have it?"
