Mystery: Who has seen my brother?

Chapter 228 Tarot Gathering

Chapter 228 Tarot Gathering
"Who?"

A door slowly opened, and the maid Bella cautiously peered into the doorway.

"Mr. Klein!"

She looked surprised and immediately stepped out of the door, quickly walking up to Klein. "Mr. Klein," she said with delight, "you're back! Mr. Benson and Miss Melissa won't be back until the afternoon..."

Bella was about to lead Klein to the sofa when she suddenly paused after taking two steps forward. She quickly walked to the sofa, picked up the newspaper, placed it on the coffee table, and said with a slight blush, "Please have a seat, sir. Black tea or coffee?"

“No need,” Klein shook his head. “I’ll be back soon. Just give me the keys to Benson and Melissa’s room.”

Bella paused for a moment, then took out the keys and handed them to Klein, murmuring, "Mr. Klein, aren't you going to wait for Mr. Benson and Miss Melissa?"

“No,” Klein said, taking the keys. “I just came back to run some errands and stopped by for a quick look. I’ll be back soon.”

Bella watched Klein's retreating figure as he went upstairs. Two seconds later, she looked away, scratching her cheek in a daze. She glanced at the newspaper on the coffee table, a wave of anxiety and embarrassment washing over her. "I hope Mr. Klein won't fire me," Bella prayed silently. "I won't be so careless next time..."

Klein was unaware of Bella's thoughts and had no intention of firing her. He stood in front of Benson's room, opened the door, went inside, and placed the last bottle of red wine he had brought on the desk.

Benson's desk was neatly arranged with many books and notebooks. Klein casually picked one up and opened it—it was a book about law and Benson's notes. Some of the notes were freshly written, indicating that Benson had continued to study law and politics even after Klein left.

Klein glanced at the notes and guessed that Benson shouldn't have too much trouble passing the civil service exam, so he put down his notes and went to Melissa's room.

Melissa's desk wasn't as tidy as Benson's. The books were neatly arranged on the desk, but some mechanical parts were scattered on the surface, making her desk look less neat but not messy. It had a sense of order within chaos, which had a unique aesthetic.

In the corner of the desk lay an unfinished mechanical creature, its progress enough to identify it as a doll. It already had two arms and a left leg, and about two centimeters away was a rectangular object, presumably its right leg. It looked similar to the one Klein had taken away, or perhaps even more refined.

Klein took the necklace out of his pocket and put it in the drawer. Then he placed the instructions he had written in advance under the top book, and only left the room after confirming that it was safe through divination.

"Bella?"

Klein arrived at the top of the stairs and found Bella still standing next to the sofa, seemingly having not moved at all.

“Sir, is there anything I can help you with?” Bella answered immediately, her voice tinged with nervousness.

Klein paused for a moment. “No need,” he said, quickly walking downstairs and handing over the keys. “You seem a little nervous. I just want to return the keys.”

“I’m sorry, Mr. Klein,” Bella took the keys, bowed her head, and kept glancing at the newspaper on the coffee table. “I swear it was just an accident, and I will be more careful in the future… Oh, no, I’m sorry.”

"Because of the kindness of the gentleman and lady, I... I did become a little lax..."

Klein followed Bella's gaze and noticed the newspaper on the coffee table. Combining this with Bella's words, he instantly understood. "Don't be nervous, Bella. I won't fire you. Obviously, this place is clean and tidy. You are a qualified, or rather, an excellent maid. I won't fire you because of one accident."

He was a little confused. Was he unfriendly? But he didn't think too much about it, offered a few words of comfort, and left.

...Due to time constraints, Klein bought a pie on the way home for lunch and rushed back, leaving him with only a dozen minutes or so before the Tarot meeting.

Medici and Eve weren't home, which saved time of getting Medici out of the house. Klein didn't mind Medici knowing his disguise, but the other man also had Sauron and Einhorn on him. Before they separated, he would definitely keep his disguise a secret.

Klein first asked Eve in prayer if she would attend the Tarot gathering, and only after receiving an affirmative answer did he begin to walk four steps backward to ascend the Source Castle.

Perhaps I can ask Miss "Justice" to treat Admisor after she's promoted... Klein sat on the bronze chair, staring at the silver pocket watch, his mind wandering... Speaking of which, should I create a new account? It would be more convenient if I had a new account, and I wouldn't need to ask my older sister for help again. Hmm... I can try it after I'm promoted to "Master of Mystic Puppet".

Da da da……

The clock ticked away, and the time drew ever closer.

Snapped!
Klein closed his pocket watch, reached out and touched the crimson star in her hair, and at the same time agreed to Eve's request. In an instant, a burst of light erupted like a fountain, then gradually dissipated. In its place appeared four figures.

"Good afternoon, Mr. Fool, good afternoon, Miss Queen..." Audrey greeted each member of the Tarot Club, her cheerful voice opening the prelude to the Tarot Club meeting.

The Hanged Man nodded in response, then stood up first and said humbly, "Six pages again this time. I'll give you the last page next time."

“Okay.” Klein nodded nonchalantly.

Derrick looked at the diary that appeared and disappeared in front of Alger, his heart filled with envy. If he could also find Roselle's diary, he could exchange more information with Mr. Fool and save Silver City.

The gray fog didn't significantly affect Eve's vision; she could easily discern Derrick's thoughts. It was just a pity that although Roselle had explored the Forsaken Land, she was accustomed to recording her experiences after returning to Intis.

Klein was unaware of what the members were thinking. He lowered his head and scanned the contents of the first page:

"On February 9, I had my third child, and I named him Bonova."

“My eldest daughter Bernadette is lucky… Zarathustra secretly congratulated me, praising Bonova as a lovely angel… Sometimes, you really shouldn’t ask about the results of divination…”

“Witches are also skilled at divination. I received the same, but more detailed, result from Eve: Bonova will become an angel, Bernadette will break with me, and Charles will die.”

“It seems that Charles ultimately failed to achieve a high sequence, which was expected. He was not suited to be a ‘craftsman’ but had no choice in the matter. I’m sorry to him. Bonova was born at sequence five, so it’s not surprising that he would become an angel. What shocked me the most was that Bernadette would actually break with me. I can’t accept it! My lovely Bernadette! My sweet Bernadette! How could she possibly break with her father!”

“I asked Him if there was a way to avoid it, and Eve just comforted me by saying that we would be reconciled in the distant future. She also advised me not to let Bonova ascend to demigod too early, as that would cause him to lose his humanity too much. I will write these two points down separately to show how important they are.”

"Bernard will make up with me."

"Don't let Bonova become a demigod any earlier."

After reading the first page of the diary, Klein recalled the madness of Emperor Roselle in his later years and vaguely guessed the reason for the rift between father and daughter.
