Chapter 32 Ransom
"Say it quickly!"

The old wolf perked up and looked at him eagerly.

Gu Ping'an looked around and confirmed that no one was following him before speaking.

"Now that we've caught the spy, we can just use him to send a message to Pushan Anzhen, saying that you're currently recuperating in Song territory and that the nearest city, Chuzhou, is hundreds of miles away. This will naturally dispel his suspicions."

"It seems feasible." Old Wolf nodded silently.

"If I simply say this, I'm afraid it might seem like I'm trying to cover up the truth, so I might as well add a few more words."

Gu Ping'an thought about it and added two more sentences.

"For example, Wang San'er heard that you already knew that the governor of Juzhou was the son of our enemy Pushan Kui, and that he was eager for revenge and was planning to attack Juzhou in the future."

"Young Master Gu is so thoughtful! I admire him!" Old Wolf clasped his fists towards him. "I'll send a pigeon to inform the Fourth Lady."

"Go quickly and return quickly. I also remind you to be extremely careful when collecting the ransom." Gu Ping'an instructed, "Although this plan is feasible, if Pu San An Zhen becomes suspicious again, I'm afraid even my identity as a spy will be in jeopardy."

The old wolf was about to deliver the letter, but suddenly he seemed to remember something, said a few more words, and then left in a hurry.

Gu Ping'an returned to the convoy alone, holding the food he had just bought.

"Why are you alone? Where's the bandit?"

Pushan Anzhen took the oil-paper bag from his hand and asked in confusion.

Gu Ping'an snorted, his face filled with anger: "This damn bandit is really arrogant. He drinks and eats meat, but makes us gnaw on this dry bread!"

The other drivers were used to hard life, so they took out their water bags, drank a sip of cold water and ate a bite of bread, without complaining.

It was a pity for the pampered governor, who almost choked after taking only two or three bites.

"Master Pushan, where did that gun-wielding woman you just mentioned come from?"

Pushan Anzhen swallowed with difficulty, then took the water bag and gulped it down, and only then did he feel better.

"That woman's name is 'Yang Miaozhen'. She's the leader of a rebellious bandit army in Shandong Province."

Gu Pingan pretended to think for a moment, then asked, "Your Excellency said that the one who kidnapped the young prince might not be a bandit. Do you think..."

"I can't rule that out," Pushan Anzhen nodded slightly. "But the leader isn't Yang Miaozhen. I'm not entirely sure. Can you tell me more? What other characteristics does that group have?"

"There are a few people in that group who are quite skilled."

Gu Ping'an randomly picked out a few people he remembered, messed up their characteristics, and talked nonsense.

"There were women there too, but it was chaotic, so I didn't notice if any of them were using guns. I only know that one of them was quite good at boxing."

These days, it is not uncommon for a few women to become bandits, especially in Shandong, where martial arts are popular and there are many heroines.

What he said was almost entirely true, and even in a future confrontation, no fault could be found. However, the more he listened, the more confused Pushan Anzhen became.

"That leader left a deep impression on me. He was a bald, burly man nicknamed 'Da Guang'. He wielded a Xuanhua axe, and his movements were powerful and impressive. The young prince was defeated by him."

Bald?

Pushan Anzhen was even more confused after hearing this.

When did a bald leader emerge from the Red Turban Army?
Even among the many leaders, I have never heard of a bald man who uses a Xuanhua axe.
In fact, it’s not his fault that the information was wrong. He was just deceived by Yang Miaozhen’s tricks.

"Daguang" was not originally a bald man, and his name was not "Daguang" at all. The weapon he was good at using was not an axe. It was just a means to deceive people.

Gu Ping'an was originally worried that the bald image would be too easy to remember, but after hearing what Lao Lang said just now, he suddenly realized it.

This Miss Yang Si is worthy of being able to lead so many heroes. Not only is her martial arts skills as good as men, but her intelligence is also quite good.

After using this deception, combined with the "spy intelligence" sent to Juzhou shortly afterwards, I don't believe he could have guessed the leader of the Red Turban Army.

"Master Pusan?" Gu Pingan called out softly, suppressing his smile. "Ah," Pusan Anzhen came back to his senses, "It's okay, maybe I guessed wrong."

Finally, he stopped speculating temporarily, but this man was extremely suspicious, so he had to act carefully and not reveal any flaws.

The old wolf quickly delivered the message and came back with the aroma of wine and meat from somewhere.

Several real drivers couldn't help but sniff and almost drool.

"It's getting late, let's hurry up and get going!"

The old wolf touched his mouth, chuckled, and told everyone to continue on their way.

After about another hour of walking, the convoy arrived at the place where they ambushed Yang Kang last time.
Although this place is near the official road, the forest is deep and dense, and the moon is dark and the wind is strong, which is perfect for hiding.

Raising his hand to stop everyone, Lao Lang bent his index finger, put it in his mouth, and blew a loud whistle.

There was soon a noise in the woods, and more than ten men in night clothes and black scarves on their faces emerged.

"Everyone come down!"

The leader walked over, knocked the shaft of the cart a few times with the sword in his hand, and gave orders.

Seeing that everyone was holding a shining weapon, several coachmen quickly dismounted and squatted aside.

Pushan Anzhen did not dare to reveal his identity, so he had to hold his breath and squat with them.

"The ransom has been delivered," Gu Ping'an said in an unhappy tone, "Where's the young prince?"

"What's the hurry?" the man sneered. "Your envoy is perfectly safe. Once we bring the ransom back, we'll release him."

"no!"

It was time to show off his acting skills again, and Gu Ping'an became "furious".

"No one can take this money without seeing the young prince!"

"What a sweet dream!" Old Wolf laughed instead of getting angry. "The Jin people are cunning. What if they release the hostages? What if the Jin soldiers come to kill us right after we leave?"

"That won't work! How do I know that the young prince hasn't been killed by you?"

"Read it for yourself!" The leading man in black threw a letter without any further ado.

Gu Ping'an unfolded the letter suspiciously, and it was indeed Yang Kang's handwriting.

I don’t know how much suffering the poor little prince had suffered before he “voluntarily” wrote this letter to persuade him to believe the other party.

"Don't worry, we Shandong heroes are loyal and righteous, and we would never do such treacherous and dirty things as you Jin people."

Now that things have come to this, if we don’t give in, there’s no telling how long this stalemate will last.

Gu Ping'an put away the letter and looked at Pushan Anzhen quietly. Seeing him nod implicitly, he "reluctantly" agreed.

"Brothers, tie them up!"

When Gu Ping'an stepped back, Old Wolf spoke again.

"Why?!" Even several drivers asked in dissatisfaction.

Old Wolf said slowly, "I've always said you Jin people are cunning. Who knows if he's a real driver or a fake one?"

Who is cunning?

Pushan Anzhen was nearly furious, but he couldn't vent his anger. He was so angry that fire was about to burst from his eyes.

"When you're out in the martial arts world, you always have to be on guard," the man in black said cheerfully, pulling out a hemp rope from his pocket. "If you guys follow me, wouldn't that be very troublesome?"
