Chapter 31: The Rebellion

Pushan Anzhen arranged for his servants to load the ransom into the car, and then gave instructions to his confidants.

There were four carriages in total. He disguised himself as one of the coachmen and followed Gu Ping'an out of Juzhou City.

After walking a few miles along the official road, a thin man wearing a straw hat stood at a tea stall on the side of the road. It was Lao Lang.

Gu Ping'an felt a little nervous when he saw him getting on his horse and chasing after him.

Pushan Anzhen was watching from behind, and if the old wolf acted too intimately, he was afraid that he would be exposed.

He was still thinking about how to give him a secret hint when the other party had already caught up with him and was riding side by side with him.

"Oh, I thought it would take at least two or three days to scrape together this much silver, but I didn't expect you to get it in just one night. You're quite capable!"

There was a ruffian air in Lao Lang's words, mixed with a bit of joking, which was obviously very different from before.

He was also a cautious and smart man. Knowing that there was a coachman beside him, he did not carelessly expose their relationship.

Gu Ping'an immediately breathed a sigh of relief.

"Stop talking nonsense," Gu Ping'an snorted coldly, "The money is already here, quickly release the little prince!"

As he spoke, he winked, indicating that the person behind him was not an ordinary driver.

Old Wolf didn't know if he understood or not, he just chuckled and shook his head slowly: "How can you let me go when I haven't received the money yet?"

"You!" Gu Ping'an pretended to be angry and asked, "Then tell me, how long do we have to wait?"

"What's the hurry? Once the ransom is delivered to the designated location and our people have safely taken it away, we will naturally release your envoy."

The old wolf stretched out on his horse and said proudly.

Among the coachmen at the back, Pushan Anzhen stared at Laolang's back, seeming to be thinking about something.

"Where should this money be transported?" Gu Ping'an asked again.

"Why so many questions?" Old Wolf glanced at him impatiently. "Just follow us. We won't send you all the way to the border of Song."

The caravan moved much slower than horses, and after walking for a full half day, dusk fell and the sky darkened again.

At this time, they happened to pass by a village. The old wolf raised his hand and asked everyone to stop to eat and rest.

"Don't worry, I'll go get some water first." He got off the horse and said to several people.

As soon as he disappeared around the corner, Pushan Anzhen immediately came to Gu Ping'an.

"Young Master Gu, this man looks familiar to me." He looked in the direction where the old wolf disappeared and said in a low voice.

Gu Ping'an was startled and turned around to ask, "Has the governor seen this man?"

"It seems familiar." Pu San An Zhen frowned and said, "I've just been thinking about it and I guessed a possibility."

"how is this possible?"

"The one who kidnapped the Imperial Envoy might not be a bandit."

Upon hearing this, Gu Ping'an's heart immediately became alarmed.

"Not a bandit? That's..."

Pushan Anzhen, however, asked in return, "Young Master Gu, was the leader of the group that ambushed the delegation yesterday a woman wielding a spear?"

He actually guessed it was the leader of the Red Coat Army!

"That's not the case." Gu Ping'an quickly calmed down and said frankly.

"No?" Pushan Anzhen was stunned when he heard that.

Obviously, this answer was beyond his expectations.

Gu Ping'an naturally would not take the initiative to say more, but just asked out of "curiosity": "Who is the woman with the gun?" Pushan Anzhen was about to explain, but saw Laolang holding his belt, walking towards him in a relaxed manner.

He winked, indicating that he would talk about it when he had the chance.

The old wolf strolled back slowly and said, "You must have had a hard time traveling. I'm sure you're all hungry. I'll go buy some bread. You just stay here and don't move."

Including Pu San An Zhen, several drivers nodded in thanks.

"Young Master Gu, come with me?" Old Wolf didn't leave in a hurry. He looked at Gu Ping'an with a smile.

Gu Pingan pretended to be annoyed and said, "Go ahead, I'm not hungry, why are you asking me to do that?"

"You're not going?" Old Wolf's smile widened. "If you don't go, who's going to pay?"

"You!" Gu Ping'an was "furious", but he had no choice but to leave with him "with a helpless look on his face".

"I'm afraid this matter will change."

Gu Ping'an walked side by side with him and spoke in a voice that only he could hear.

The old wolf remained calm and asked, "What happened?"

"One of the four drivers was Pushan Anzhen, the governor of Juzhou."

"It's him?"

The two had already turned the corner. When Old Wolf heard the name, he stopped.

"Do you know this person?" Gu Ping'an asked, "He just asked me if the team that attacked the imperial envoy was led by a woman. I'm afraid he has recognized you."

Old Wolf calmed down a bit and said as he walked, "He probably hasn't seen me, but his father, Pu San Kui, has had a lot of dealings with us. Fourth Lady's brother, Yang An'er, died at his father's hands."

(This is inconsistent with historical facts and is purely a plot twist.)
"A few years ago, before his father became seriously ill, he served as the Shandong Road Recruiting Envoy and fought many tough battles with our Red Coat Army. That old man was very cunning and once almost surrounded us. In order to cover our evacuation, Brother Yang fought to the death and was ultimately killed."

Gu Ping'an didn't know about this experience. When he heard about it for the first time, he couldn't help but sigh at Yang An'er's great righteousness.

"He just asked you, so he must have had some suspicions, but he just can't confirm it yet."

The old wolf frowned and gritted his teeth.

"Why don't we just go all out and kill him?"

"Brother Wolf, think twice!"

Gu Ping'an didn't expect him to be so bold and hurried to stop him.

"Kidnapping the imperial envoy is fine, as long as it doesn't interfere with important matters, the old emperor won't bother to care. But this man is a provincial governor and the descendant of a famous general. If he loses his life, I'm afraid the Jin people will turn the entire Shandong Road upside down. If that happens, not to mention the safety of the Red Turban Army, once war breaks out, the common people will inevitably suffer the pain of displacement."

"Ah, you're right." Old Wolf also sighed, "But this is a rare opportunity to take the initiative and avenge Brother Yang. I really don't want to give up!"

"Besides," he thought for a moment and added, "Pusan Anzhen has been keeping an eye on us for a long time. If he knew we were the ones who kidnapped him, I'm afraid our lives wouldn't be easy."

Gu Ping'an also had a headache for a while.

This time, the plan of taking advantage of the situation was well thought out, but it still encountered many setbacks. There was the governor himself disguising himself as an espionage agent, and there was also the spy from before.
etc.
Spy!

"Brother Wolf!" Gu Ping'an slapped Old Wolf's shoulder hard.

Lao Lang was paying the uncle selling pancakes when he was suddenly slapped by him and the coins in his hand fell to the ground.

"You kid, why are you so jumpy while talking?" He squatted down to pick up the money and said unhappily.

"I have a solution!" Gu Ping'an said in a low voice.

Old Wolf handed over a few copper coins, dusted off his sleeves, and asked, "What's the solution?"

"That spy from before! He fell into our hands, but Pushan Anzhen didn't know about it. The enemy is in the open, and we are in the dark. This situation can be resolved!"
