Chapter 4: Free Blade
The cold water brushed over Taylor's skin, and the clean liquid from the wooden barrel flowed over, something like soap slowly foaming up, and then was washed away, over and over again.

The Imperial Guard soldier refused the servants' request to serve him and stayed here alone, repeatedly dousing his body with cold water.

Now that the temperature has dropped significantly due to the rain, such actions are enough to send people into shock from the cold.

But Taylor could still feel that somewhere in his body, he was still erect and persistent because of an evil fire that had nowhere to vent.

He finally tried to hit it.

He sighed again and poured more cold water on himself, not daring to come out until the filth on his body was washed away and the filth in his head was almost forgotten.

Maybe it was because I was relaxed, the tiredness from the long march and not getting enough sleep last night crept into my heart.

He yawned as he walked into the female knight's room.

Looking at the door that was no different from other rooms, an inexplicable anger rose up again.

He knocked on the door fearfully and frankly said that the last time he was so cautious was when he killed an enemy for the first time.

Holding a laser gun, he knocked on the door of an underground black market of a cult organization like an old friend who came to visit, and sneaked in.

He was then involved in a gang fight, and the deaths of 30 Imperial traitors were also attributed to him.

This may also be why Taylor always saves innocent people, because he has seen enough killing.

He looked at the door and became more and more excited. He thought about how he had survived the pursuit of cults, gene stealers, and mutants.

Today is the day.

Ms. Elena's voice came, light, bright, and sounding joyful.

"Come in~"

He thanked his ancestors in his heart before slowly pushing open the door.

With its elegant fragrance and large, long table, Elena's room looks unique and interesting.

At least Taylor had never seen a girl whose boudoir had no bed but a pile of swords and a long table.

Ms. Elena smiled as she looked at Taylor who pushed the door open, and Taylor also noticed something was wrong.

He saw many people who looked like knights, members of the Mechanicus, and even soldiers from his squad.

They were ready to go, even Ms. Elena had changed into a combat hydraulic reinforced suit, and the metal throne connector on her spine could even be seen directly.

She was pointing at a huge strategic map on the table, smiling as she looked at the red chess pieces representing the orcs one by one.

The smile is a bit scary...

Look at Taylor again, dressed in loose pajamas, he almost became the focus here in an instant.

The lady laughed as if she had achieved something, and she looked at Taylor.

"Haha, I didn't expect an officer from the Star Army to be so interested. You're a qualified actor."

Taylor asked angrily. "Are you playing with my heart?"

Elena replied. "As a warrior of the God-Emperor, you're prone to wild imaginations. Who knows where all those achievements came from?"

"If I hadn't seen the strict rules of the Astra Militarum, I would have thought you were a noble soldier who paid for merit!"

Before Taylor could react, his subordinate Sergeant Katie objected first.

"Our commander is definitely not a foolhardy man, nor is he sarcastic or cunning! His achievements were all achieved in the presence of the Emperor through his intelligence and wisdom!" Taylor cursed. "Enough!"

"Katie, my sweetheart, please don't say that."

"Your defense of me only serves to shame me. Let the Freeblade continue her evaluation. What she said is true."

"All I know is that we are now facing a massive orc army. We may live one day but die the next. In such a situation, so-called achievements and honors are worthless."

When he finished speaking, everyone looked at Taylor with admiration.

In the 40th century, there are thousands of people who are addicted to honor, but he is so humble despite having such a reputation?
Miss Elena said with a changed attitude. "Ha, it seems I was wrong about you. You're the type who enjoys a bloody battle."

Taylor wants to ask, can you remove the bloody battle and leave only the enjoyment?
Taylor walked helplessly to his seat in his pajamas, sat down, and began to listen to the combat meeting.

Most people focused their energy on how to attack the orc tribe and tear open the defenses of those Death Skull Orcs.

But Taylor focused all his attention on the map.

He noticed a good location, off the main road and away from important cities and fortresses.

This is very important. According to Taylor's experience, such places are very comfortable to stay in.

After all, his team only has ten people. Can they change the situation of the battle?
No one would believe it if I told them.

At the end of the battle line meeting, Elena began to ask everyone to choose their stationing location, and Taylor did not hesitate to station the chess piece representing his team there.

Elena frowned. "Taylor, my servant, this is a destroyed fortress. It's no longer valuable."

"It used to bear the heavy burden of transportation and supplies, but now there are only scattered wild orcs."

"Anyway, as far as I know, it has no strategic value."

Taylor responded immediately. "People are always easily deceived, aren't they?"

He pointed at that spot and said, "Look, there are still traces of a road on the flank of this fortress, allowing the orcs' light vehicles to drive straight in."

"As far as I know, this city has no defense system. If they attack suddenly, your vehicle may be destroyed."

Elena wanted to refute it. After all, the road there had been almost destroyed. Apart from a few scattered farmers producing supplies, there was no strategic value there.

But she saw Taylor's determined gaze and hesitated in her words.

Do I really want to doubt this warrior?
This honorable Astra Militarum officer who saved civilians and had a distinguished military career?
She had witnessed many heroic deeds by the Astra Militarum, but Krieg's memory remained fresh.

Since such a rare talent firmly believes that this place is important, then it must be wrong...

Elena looked at the officers and Mechanicus members around her and said as if she had made up her mind.

"Tyler, my squire, Hammer of the Emperor, warrior of the Astra Militarum."

"Your determination has touched me, so I will return the favor."

"I've assigned 50 armed soldiers to you. From now on, you and your squad will protect our flanks."

"In the name of my family!"

Taylor immediately stood up and returned the greeting.

He just had a bad feeling.

Why...it's like a farewell ceremony?
