The guide the deputy curator found was a very strong middle-aged man. His skin was tanned due to years of physical work, but one could still see some of his mixed-race aboriginal features.
As soon as they met, Martin threw him a stack of green dollars.
Before leaving, Bruce gave him permission to withdraw unlimited funds from the Wayne Group, ensuring that he could mobilize any resources of the Wayne Group and its affiliated institutions at any time.
In this regard, Martin just wants to say that it feels really good to cling to someone powerful.
The guide, who had made his living in the forest all his life, was dazed by the stack of dollars and swore to Martin in heavily accented English that he was willing to do anything.
But when he sat on the Hoof Shadow and felt the sensation of flying on the ground, he began to raise his hands and beg for mercy.
"Boss, boss, your motorcycle is too fast. I can't hold on."
Martin slammed on the brakes.
The guide just lay down on the side of the road, vomiting violently, his limbs were weak, and he looked like he was about to die at any time.
After vomiting violently for a while, he knelt down and straightened his upper body, begging Martin for mercy: "I will return all your money, you should find another guide!"
Martin admitted that he did run a little faster.
Since he had promised to lead the archaeological team into the forest to survey the tomb of the Aztec king, he did not want to break his promise, so he kept speeding up.
He himself didn't feel anything, but others couldn't bear such pressure.
"You draw the route on the map, I'll go by myself, and you can still keep the money."
Martin gave him another option.
"You are such a good man, a kind and good man."
The guide kept bowing to Martin. The money he earned was more than the hard-earned money he had accumulated in the first half of his life.
He pulled out a hand-drawn map and handed it to Martin, which clearly marked the route to the last town on the edge of the forest, although it was marked in Spanish.
"I can explain it to you in English if you want."
"No need. There aren't many cars passing by on this road. Just be careful!"
Martin rejected the other party's kindness, asked Hoof Shadow to scan the map, and continued to move towards the primeval forest along the cracked concrete road.
Not long after we walked, the cement road came to an end and we had to walk on the compacted dirt road.
After that, there was no dirt road at all, only a small path trampled out by the local residents, which was too small for motorcycles to pass. The hoof shadows turned into steel war horses, running on four legs on the small path that could not even be called a road.
When we finally came into sight of the town marked on the map, it was already four o'clock in the afternoon. The sun was gradually moving westward and was about to set behind the mountains.
"Today's time was spent on traveling. I have never had such an experience before."
The secret room under Martin's school always leads to all kinds of strange places, and those who want help or cause trouble for him will always jump in front of him.
But in this world, he does not yet have the ability to move quickly.
“It’s time to think about how to use the space.”
Martin recalled various magic and technologies that could utilize space in his mind, while Hoofying rushed down the ridge and found a road leading to the town in the forest.
The road is paved with asphalt and is busy with vehicles, mostly SUVs and trucks.
In the off-road vehicle sat people who wanted to get rich through adventure and walked inside.
Trucks loaded with trees, minerals and various specialties were heading out.
The two sides do not interfere with each other, forming a peculiar balance.
The hoof shadow turned back into a motorcycle, carrying Martin into the off-road traffic and heading towards the town.
There was a checkpoint at the gate into the town, and a group of gunmen checked every passing vehicle.
When it was Martin's turn, the gunman at the checkpoint stopped him and asked, "Why did you come to our town?"
“Go into the forest to do archaeology.”
Martin took out the contract he had signed with the deputy director and handed it over.
The gunman at the gate glanced at the contract and sneered, "A person riding a motorcycle wants to conquer the pyramid that has swallowed up hundreds of lives. There are only two kinds of people who would do this, one is a skilled and daring person, and the other is a stupid and ignorant person."
"You are the latter. I have seen too many people like you." The gunman waved the contract and pointed with his head held high.
Martin leaned his hands on the front of the Hoof Shadow and asked with interest: "Why can't I be the former?"
"Because you are too young, not even 20 years old. Do you think you are the famous Martin?"
The gunman laughed and mocked the foolish look in his eyes.
"Every young person thinks he is special, but the forest will use death to tell you that you are nothing special, just one of many cannon fodders."
"I don't think so."
Martin straightened up and said to the gunman, "I think I am the special one. Even the forest will make way for me."
"You are not only a fool, but also a stupid lunatic."
As soon as the gunman finished speaking, Martin snatched his service pistol from its holster and pressed it against his forehead.
The gunmen at the entire checkpoint immediately jumped up, pointed their guns at Martin, and shouted, "Tell him to release him immediately."
Martin ignored the threats from the gunmen around him and said to the gunman under his gun: "Before you taunt others next time, you should read the contents of the contract carefully. You missed the first chance, now I give you a second chance, don't waste my kindness."
The gunman was already sweating profusely. He quickly opened the contract in his hand and saw the big signature. His heart seemed to stop.
"So you really are Mr. Martin. I was blind. Please forgive me."
Martin loosened his hand, and the muzzle of the pistol drooped down as he handed it back to the other party.
When the gunmen around heard Martin's name, they immediately thought of legendary adventure stories and put down their guns.
"Remember what I said. Next time before you show off your power, look at the person first, otherwise you will be killed by your own stupidity."
"I understand, I understand, I understand!"
The gunman took back the pistol in panic and stepped aside.
His clothes were completely soaked with sweat.
The barrier at the junction opened, but Martin did not go in. Instead, he continued to look at the gunman and said, "Now you're not going to charge me for the toll?"
As the saying goes, you can rely on mountains to eat mountains, and you can rely on water to eat water.
These gunmen built the entire town, certainly not for charity. Anyone who ventures into the forest and wants to rest here must pay the owner.
"You are"
"Take it!"
Martin pulled out a wad of money and threw it in the gunman's face.
"Rules are rules. Since you are weak, you should respect me as a strong person, just as I respect the efforts of those who maintain order in this town."
"Understand?"
All the gunmen were intimidated by Martin and just kept nodding.
Martin watched the gunman lower his head like a quail, then he rode into the town with satisfaction, leaving only his back for them to look up at.
After he left, the pause button on the town gate was turned off, and whispers soon began to sound.
"Oh my god, is this the legendary Martin?"
"The way he taught these guys a lesson just now was so handsome."
“This is the life we should live!”
"Don't even think about it. He's a legend. We may never see him again in our lifetime."
