Chapter 3: Being Open and Honest

Chapter 3: Being Open and Honest (Not)

Ivy Dum is a smart guy.

In other words, he is a guy who thinks he is smart. And until now, no one thinks he is unworthy of this adjective.

Therefore, the battle with Dumbledore was actually something he had planned from the beginning.

The purpose is simple: to destroy the evidence.

As a master of the dark arts who is proficient in the "Avatar's Big Melon", his ebony wand has claimed the lives of more than one person.

However, when facing the greatest white wizard of the 20th century, keeping the evidence was a very unwise choice.

All it took was a small "Flashback Charm" for Ivy to reveal his true form. Although he was quite sure that the magic he used most was "Revelation", that didn't mean Dumbledore could have missed the "Three Unforgivable Curses" mixed in.

Although Ivy believed that everyone he killed deserved it, he really didn't want to go to Azkaban, also known as the Hogwarts Continuing Education College, to be questioned.

Therefore, using ancient magic to destroy one's wand is the best solution at the moment.

Even better than this would be to get Dumbledore himself involved.

Therefore, after hearing Dumbledore's self-introduction, the first magic Ivy used was "Armor Protection", which shows that he is a duelist who values his own safety, rather than a gambler who takes everything for granted.

Then there is the "Retreat Three Feet" used to create distance. It is still not an attack magic, but it reduces one's own offensiveness and also indirectly reduces Dumbledore's vigilance.

Then, after Dumbledore introduced Snape as the Headmaster of Slytherin, Ivy used his first offensive magic - "Expelliarmus", which was not gentle but not deadly either.

What followed was the ultimate display of his ultimate move, which was also the finale of Ivy's plan, the ancient magic lightning strike, completing the battle with Dumbledore, and using ancient magic to destroy his own wand.

This demonstrates both the power of ancient magic and its instability.

Finally, he took out his second wand, and with Snape's perfect assistance, he "lost the ability to resist" and surrendered with his hands raised.

This left Dumbledore and Snape with the stereotype of "the Slytherin who cherishes his life".

At this point, Ivy's entire plan for this duel was complete, and now it was time to talk. Apart from being able to improvise, the only thing he could rely on was a rigorous tone.

"Fairy silver... and perhaps some ingredients I don't recognize..." Snape put Ivy's silver wand under his nose with a stern face and looked at it for a while, then handed it to Dumbledore beside him, and then looked at Ivy who was tugging at his long robe on the other side, "A little wizard who hasn't even grown all his hair... dares to attack two adult wizards... and use magic that he hasn't fully mastered... If you hadn't raised your hand fast enough, I would have thought you were an arrogant person from Gryffindor." Ivy curled his lips and didn't mean to say anything, but the expression on his face clearly said - you have the bigger fist, you have the final say.

"...Exquisite skills!" Dumbledore glanced at Ivy from behind his half-moon glasses, still praising the gleaming silver wand. "Well, perhaps you are willing to talk to us now? This..."

Ivy shrugged and introduced himself reluctantly: "Ivy, Ivy Dum."

"Very good, it seems we have reached a certain consensus, Mr. Doom." Dumbledore tried to wave the wand he got from Ivy, but only a few sparks appeared on the wand, and then there was no reaction. "You obviously look like a student of Hogwarts, so why did you attack us?"

"Not asking about ancient magic?" Ivy shrugged. "That doesn't matter." Then he asked, "Have you seen me in Hogwarts? Of course not. Because I haven't seen you either."

"Oh——" Dumbledore nodded, obviously agreeing with this statement.

"I'm a fifth-year student at Hogwarts. Although I'm a transfer student, my grades in all subjects are among the best. All the teachers like me very much. And according to Professor Black - I mean, Headmaster Black, I will be elected as the class leader next year!" Ivy looked quite complacent. Then he looked at Dumbledore, "But I've never seen you in Hogwarts, not even in the portrait!" He looked at Snape again, "And of course you!"

"So you definitely can't be the headmaster or professor of Hogwarts. Assuming we both told the truth, there is only one possibility, one of us traveled through time!" Ivy blew a breath from his nose, obviously very complacent with his reasoning, "And we all know that the Ministry of Magic is extremely strict in guarding the time converter. They are even considering enacting stricter laws to regulate its use. I suspect it will take them at least twenty years to write this matter into the law."

The regulations on the use of time-turners were issued by the Ministry of Magic in 1899. When Ivy was in school, he had read discussions about the formulation of the regulations in the Daily Prophet. Although he didn't know what happened later, the time-turner was definitely a dangerous item that should be strictly controlled.

This is what Ivey calls improvisation.

"Speaking of Hogwarts headmasters named Black, I can only think of one..." Snape squinted and looked back and forth at Ivy's face, as if trying to find some flaws, but Ivy's disguise was seamless, with absolutely no flaws.

"Phineas Black, who else could it be? The great headmasters of Hogwarts, including Professor Black, are all saying so." Ivy looked around and continued in a slightly lower voice, "I mean, Headmaster Black is also a great wizard. It definitely doesn't mean anything else you think."

"Oh - I'm sorry, Mr. Doom." Dumbledore shook his head and said in a sighing tone, "I'm afraid we are all telling the truth, and no one is using the time turner. Today is July 1991, 7. I am Albus Dumbledore, the current headmaster of Hogwarts, and Professor Phineas Black was the headmaster two terms before me."

"You mean..." Ivy looked very surprised.

"Yes, the classmates, friends, and professors you knew are no longer here."

"I am one hundred and forty-four years old?"

The two who spoke at the same time fell into an awkward silence.
