Chapter 255 Cosmic Inheritance Academy
Chapter 255 Cosmic Inheritance Academy
Adrian paused slightly as he cut the meat. This was indeed what made him uneasy. He knew perfectly well that someone as beautiful as Nan Rong could never possibly catch the eye of Mr. Carol, yet logically it seemed to make sense—it was simply unbelievable.
“How can you prove you know Mr. Carroll?” He threw down the knife and leaned back in his chair.
“It’s very simple,” Nan Rong said calmly. “He has a maple leaf-shaped red birthmark on his right collarbone, which is unrecognizable to anyone who isn’t close to him.”
Adrian's pupils contracted slightly. Although the birthmark on little Carol's body wasn't exactly a secret, not many people knew about it. He himself had only heard about it occasionally at a very private gathering. He never expected that this lowly female slave in front of him would also know about it.
Nan Rong was also sizing up the person opposite her. At this moment, she was certain that the little Carol was indeed the one she knew.
Of course, he should have become one of the Great Demon King's puppets by now. Compared to his actions towards himself, spreading rumors and exploiting others would not cause Nan Rong any unease.
“I’ve answered your question, so can I keep my promise now?” she said bluntly. “Of course, if I’m satisfied with the meal, I can also give you some pointers on how to see little Carol sooner.”
Adrian stood up, carrying the plate, and walked towards Nan Rong, looking down at her.
“Huh?” he said. “You have a very beautiful green hair.”
This strand of hair seemed thicker and shinier than the others, emitting a rainbow of colors under the chandelier.
He unconsciously reached out, wanting to pull it off for a closer look, but the hair seemed to be welded to Nan Rong's head, and he couldn't pull it off no matter how hard he tried.
Nan Rong frowned in pain: "Young Master Adrian, your behavior is far too childish and also quite undignified."
Adrian himself realized this and sheepishly let go of her hand.
"I'm sorry. I've never seen such beautiful hair before."
He forked a piece of meat, trying to make amends by feeding it to her, but she turned her head away.
"I lost a lot of blood in the battle just now and I'm completely weak." She said, twisting her hands behind her back. "Even sitting here is difficult, so I won't pose any threat to you. Besides, if you want to gain benefits without lifting a finger, you always have to take some risks, right?"
Adrian thought for a moment, and the corners of his lips curled up slightly.
"You're right," he said, and then, without anyone noticing, the energy-suppressing ring activated.
Nan Rong stretched her aching arms slightly, then sat on the table and began to eat without saying a word.
Adrian simply watched without making a sound, until Nan Rong finished all the food on the table, including the entire leg of the Shpu beast.
“Now,” he said, pouring her a glass of water and handing it to her, “can you tell me your story with young Master Carol?”
"Are you sure you want to know the inside story?" Nan Rong downed his water in one gulp, a look of surprise appearing in his bright black eyes: "Little Carol certainly doesn't want others to know that he was once cheated out of money and his virtue by a woman—of course, it's true that he's good-looking, but unfortunately, he's not my type."
This fabricated excuse actually made Adrian hesitate.
“Alright,” he said. “Tell me, what should I do to get Mr. Carroll to agree to see me?”
Adrian left in a hurry, leaving the luxurious VIP room to Nan Rong. He had no intention of doing anything to her, or rather, after hearing about Nan Rong's past relationship with Carol, he completely gave up the idea.
This was precisely why Nan Rong arranged things this way.
She stood in front of the full-length mirror and found that thick, shiny green hair.
Its emerald green resembled the deepest colors of spring, or a deep summer pool, exuding a delightful and welcoming scent. This scent was quite familiar.
Nan Rong remembered that the electric shocks that could kill people during the day later spread out in this direction and eventually disappeared without a trace.
"Tuanzi," she asked softly, "is that you?"
When Nan Rong said those words, she didn't expect to hear a reply.
But the next second, the green hair began to tremble in the mirror, slowly turning into a small, light green jelly ball, which shakily jumped into Nan Rong's palm.
"Master." The jelly dumpling rubbed against her palm vigorously, its voice reaching her mind: "Finally, I can talk to you!"
Nan Rong's heart softened, and joy filled her eyes and brows.
"What happened?" she asked softly in her mind, holding it in her hands. "What happened after that day?"
"It's just like you know. The Death Ray cannon consumed most of my power, and I could only rely on you to recuperate until that day when you met that being."
Nan Rong's eyes narrowed slightly.
"The being you're referring to, is it Tian Li, or... a great demon king from another world?"
"What great demon king!" Tuanzi jumped up excitedly. "You've misunderstood! He's not a great demon king at all, but..."
"And what is it?" Nan Rong's smile vanished completely, and she asked in a low voice, "Tell me, who exactly is he? And what is your relationship with him?"
"This is exactly what I was going to tell you." Tuanzi stared with its round eyes, trying hard to put on a serious expression, but the effect was obviously not as good as it thought.
“I just received permission myself,” Tuanzi said. “Before, when you failed the trial, I was not allowed to say anything according to the rules.”
This wasn't the first time Nan Rong had heard the term "trial."
"So what now?" Nan Rong asked. "I remember the Great Demon King told me that he had added a third trial for me. Does that mean I've passed it now?"
"Ahhh!" Tuanzi jumped up again: "I already told you it's not the Great Demon King, that's the supreme, all-knowing, and all-powerful Headmaster!"
"Dean?" Nan Rong curled his lip. "There are countless academies in the interstellar space. How can a mere dean be so supreme?"
It is indeed more powerful than ever before.
"Because he's not a dean in the traditional sense—he's the dean of the Cosmic Heritage Academy!"
"Universe. Inheritance Academy?" Nan Rong felt that she recognized each word, but when put together, she couldn't understand it at all.
"Have you ever seen the seeds of the sycamore tree?" Jelly Dumpling asked.
"Hmm." As a materials expert, Nan Rong naturally remembered this kind of third-tier material.
"The real universe is similar in structure to this. Countless worlds, like seeds on the periphery, cluster together on the central core of the universe. And within the core of the universe stands the greatest and most magical school in history, which is the Cosmic Heritage Academy that I just mentioned."
