Chapter 383 The Tragedy of the Golden Horse

Chapter 383 The Tragedy of the Golden Horse
"What the hell are you talking about?"

Jiang Wen suddenly sat up, his eyes wide open, and said.

The woman said, "Chen Nuo got a double-yolk egg, look."

Jiang Wen took the phone from the woman's hand and saw that it was Sina Weibo, a new media platform that had become very popular in the past year or so. In the short period of time, he had collaborated with Weibo quite a bit to promote "Let the Bullets Fly," and had also bought his way onto the trending topics list several times, at exorbitant prices.

However, right now, at the top of this list of exorbitant prices is a name that he has both loved and hated lately.

"Chen Nuo wins a Golden Horse Award tie."

"Holy shit," Jiang Wen muttered, "who the hell is having a double dose with him?"

“A Taiwanese actor named Ethan Juan.”

"What? Egg shocking the world?"

"No, no! You're a bad person. You're always thinking about these things. His name is Ethan Juan."

“Ruan Jingtian, what a weird name, never heard of it. Oh, it’s from Mengjia, I know Mengjia.” Jiang Wen flipped through his phone, glanced at it a few times, thought for a moment, then lost interest and tossed the phone back to the woman.

The woman asked curiously, "What? Isn't Chen Nuo your good buddy? Why aren't you angry?"

Jiang Wen chuckled and said, "I'll lay an egg."

"What do you mean?"

"I'm too lazy to talk about it. I'm going to sleep. I have an interview tomorrow morning."

The woman shook her head in confusion, stopped looking at her phone, and got out of bed to wash up.

When she returned after washing up, she saw that Jiang Wen had sat up at some point, had put on his glasses, and picked up his Nokia, seemingly about to make a phone call.

The woman immediately laughed, "You still care about your good brother."

Jiang Wen didn't reply, but held the phone to his ear and then immediately put it down.

"What, can't get through?"

Jiang Wen nodded and immediately dialed another number. This time, the person on the other end answered quickly.

"Ke, have you seen the news? Nuo got a double yolk at the Golden Horse Awards."

"That's not what I meant. Why would he need us? What I meant was, could we use this as a theme in our film? Anyway, they've already taken down the hawthorn tree, right?"

"Yes, that's right, I definitely called him, but I couldn't get through..."

"Okay, I'll let you know once I get in touch with them."

After the call ended, Jiang Wen dialed again, but it was still busy.

Jiang Wen leaned against the headboard, pondered for a moment, and then suddenly chuckled.

The woman laughed and said, "Your good brother is being bullied, and instead of helping him, you're laughing?"

Jiang Wen chuckled and said, "You don't understand. I'm happy because this kind of story is bound to work."

The woman was getting a little angry. "All you ever say is 'I don't understand, I don't understand.' I really don't know much about your entertainment industry. But your wife does understand, so why don't you ask her?"

"Hey, I was just kidding, why did you take it seriously?" Jiang Wen gently stretched out his arm and pulled the woman into his embrace.

"Well, let me give you an example and you'll understand. Let's say I'm an office worker with a monthly salary of 2000 yuan, and I have a billionaire friend. There's a poor neighbor next door who cooks a pot of cornbread one day and wants to invite him to dinner."

"My friend was so enthusiastic that I couldn't refuse, so I went."

"When he arrived, his neighbor complained that he had too big an appetite and ate too much, so he only gave him half of the food."

"My friend was obviously very angry when he saw this, and it seems he's not going to eat even half of it."

"Tell me, in this story, who is the most pitiful?"

The woman suddenly realized and said, "You mean the Golden Horse Award is like that poor neighbor, and Chen Nuo is like your billionaire friend, right? You're not angry because even without cornbread, he can still go back to eating big meals. Hmm, now that you mention it, your friend isn't pitiful; that poor neighbor is the most pitiful. He treats cornbread, which others would look down on, like a treasure."

Jiang shook his head and said, “Wrong, wrong. The poor neighbor is not pitiful, he is hateful. After what he did, my friend will definitely not consider him a friend anymore, and he probably won’t be able to make any billionaire friends in the future. His life will probably get harder and harder, and he will become poorer and poorer. But this is all his own doing, and he is not pitiful.”

The woman exclaimed in surprise, "Oh, not him? Then who is it? Your friend?"

“My friend? Ha! My friend eats delicacies every day. He’s just missing one cornbread now. He’s nothing to be pitied.” Jiang Wen pointed to his own nose. “In this story, I’m the most pitiful one.”

"Think about it, my friends are all billionaires, and I'm still stuck here earning 2000 yuan a month, thinking about how to get some overtime pay every day."

"Do you think I'm pathetic? Shouldn't I be the one feeling sorry for myself?"

……

……

Chen Nuo hadn't expected to receive so many calls.

Qi Yuntian was the one dealing with all the media reports.

However, from around 11 a.m. when he returned to the hotel until after midnight, his phone kept ringing non-stop. It felt as if the whole world was focused on the Golden Horse Awards.

Sure enough, just after dealing with the concern of Chairman Xu from Hengdian Group, Jiang Wen, who was still promoting "Let the Bullets Fly" in mainland China, called again.

After listening to Jiang Wen's words, Chen Nuo immediately said, "No problem, try your best. Do you want me to help you think of a theme... Haha, okay, you guys think of it yourselves. By the way, why are you still up so late? I remember you're going to be on 'Art Life' tomorrow? Are you out drinking... Oh, at home? Then give my regards to your sister-in-law... Hahaha, okay, let's meet again when we get back to Beijing, bye-bye."

After Jiang Wen, it was Ang Lee.

I've actually discussed a lot of things with Ang Lee at the Golden Horse Awards ceremony not long ago. Now, Ang Lee is here to give him an explanation.

Upon hearing Hou Hsiao-hsien's final findings—that the chairman of this year's jury was actually a narrow-minded and ignorant individual—Chen Nuo couldn't help but sigh.

Indeed, the barriers between regions are insurmountable mountains. These frogs on the islands are so narrow-minded. They should all be cooked and eaten.

"...Don't worry, Director Li, I'm leaving tomorrow, so I definitely won't say anything...Haha, forget about the trophy, really, you can keep it...It's really not necessary. I'm not angry, I'm not angry. It's just that the display cabinet at my home in Beijing is a bit small. I'll have to redecorate it when I go back sometime, otherwise it really won't fit."

"Haha, just kidding. Goodbye, Director Li. Let me know when you go to America or mainland China, and I'll treat you to a meal."

After hanging up the phone, Chen Nuo noticed Liu Yifei looking thoughtful beside him. "What are you thinking about?"

Liu Yifei hesitated and asked, "Chen Nuo, aren't you afraid of doing this?"

"What are you afraid of? Afraid that the Taiwanese frogs will bite me? You know what my favorite dishes are."

Liu Yifei was speechless for a moment.

Although she was being cautious as a girl, she felt that what the other person was doing was really offensive.

However, it must be said that this approach is indeed very satisfying.

If you're being stingy by sending me a double-yolk egg, I'm just not going to take it. You guys can keep it and play with it yourselves.

For most people, winning the Golden Horse Award for Best Actor is something to be proud of, the kind of honor that gets highlighted on movie posters and emphasized.

However, for him, this so-called honor doesn't even rank in the top five in his past history.

Just like he said, he has so many trophies that they can't all fit in the display case.

Besides, what does it matter if Ang Lee, Hou Hsiao-hsien, or even people in Taiwan don't like him?
Anyway, he doesn't lack people who like him.

Thinking about it this way, Liu Yifei immediately felt much more relaxed.

Watching Chen Nuo finish his phone call and then lower his head to start texting, a feeling suddenly arose in her heart that a man would give up his original honor to share joys and sorrows with her. She couldn't help but feel a sweet warmth in her heart.

And Chen Nuo is the same.

After he finally finished replying to all the concerned text messages from his international friends, including Janice Man, Fan Bingbing, Gao Yuanyuan, Tong Liya, Xia Yehe, Jeon Do-yeon, Ayaka Ayaka, Emma Stone, Kristen Stewart, and Ellen Page—he didn't know how the news spread so fast that his international friends already knew about his trivial matter—when he looked up and saw the girl next to him with a sweet smile on her lips, a touch of tenderness rose in his heart.

"Are you tired? Why don't you go to bed earlier?"

"It's nothing, I just wanted to chat with you. We'll be parting ways again tomorrow," Sisi said, pouting.

"Sigh. Let's talk." Lying down on the edge of the bed, Chen Nuo sighed, reached out, and skillfully slipped his hand inside the other person's loose bathrobe, asking, "When will filming in Japan finish?"

As an old married couple, Liu Yifei naturally didn't stop Chen Nuoshou. On the contrary, she felt quite comfortable with it. After thinking for a moment, she replied, "Around January 20th, just in time for the New Year."

Chen Nuo suddenly asked, "Hey, have you noticed that your breasts have gotten a little bigger? Is that my doing?"

Liu Yifei chuckled, "How could that be? It's just that my period is coming soon, and my breasts are swollen."

"Huh? Why wasn't this happening before?"

"It was like this before. It's just that you weren't here."

As she spoke, Liu Yifei pouted again, "Chen Nuo, when do you think we can finally stop living like this?"

"What day?"

"We are separated more often than we are together."

Chen Nuo sighed and said, "Oh, there's nothing we can do about it. That's our fate as actors... Let's talk about something happier. Hmm, you didn't win Best Actress this time, are you sad?"

"It was a little bit before, but it's fine now."

Liu Yifei's face was a little red, all because of Chen Nuo's hands, which not only rubbed but also twisted her fingers.

She suppressed her excitement and said slowly, "If the Golden Horse Awards treat you like this, then I don't care about it anymore. Look at director Zhang Yimou, he wasn't that happy when he won Best Director, was he?"

……

It's not just Zhang Yimou.

After Chen Nuo pulled that stunt, the people who received the awards afterwards were not very happy.

Just as Chen Nuo finished massaging the top and bottom, and then started bargaining with Qianqian about today's perks,
Xu Fan and Feng Xiaogang received a congratulatory phone call from Wang Zongjun, but neither of them seemed particularly happy.

“…Stop talking, Mr. Wang.” Xu Fan said listlessly into the speakerphone. “During the interview, all the reporters were asking about Chen Nuo. Besides Chen Nuo, I felt like there were more people surrounding Liu Yifei than me. My Best Actress award is like something picked up off the street; nobody cares about me.”

Wang Zongjun chuckled on the phone, "It's alright, she's still a Golden Horse Award winner. She'll be a big name in the future. I'll celebrate with you when we get back to Beijing tomorrow."

Feng Xiaogang interjected, "Zong Jun, to be honest, let's skip the celebration banquet. It's really pointless."

After a moment of silence on the phone, Wang Zongjun said, "Damn it, that kid, nothing good ever comes from running into him. Gangzi, from what you're saying, you think this is no small matter?"

Feng Xiaogang sneered, "Heh, people from Taiwan, they all like Confucianism, they'd rather suffer a loss than lose face. If I were Hou Hsiao-hsien, I'd kneel down and kowtow to him twice to get the trophy. And now, what the hell is the difference between this and returning the award?"

"Hehe, let's wait and see what tomorrow's news brings. Anyway, the mainland and Hong Kong are calling them idiots right now. Let's see if the Taiwanese media will support them tomorrow. If everyone really kicks them while they're down, the Golden Horse Awards won't be the same as before."

……

"Supporting the Golden Horse Awards is supporting Taiwan, and supporting ourselves!"

Cai Songlin spoke firmly into the phone.

As the chairman of Taiwan's largest entertainment group, which oversees SET TV, SET Metro, and the Liberty Times, Taiwan's largest-circulation newspaper, his voice is virtually unheard of in the Taiwanese entertainment industry.

"Whoever he is, at this time, we must stand united against a common enemy and not kick someone when they're down. Chen Nuo is no perfect person. Wasn't his 'thank you' too arrogant? It's an insult to the Taiwanese film industry."

"Millions of Taiwanese people saw this on television, and many expressed their dissatisfaction online. We must stand with them! I have a title here; you can use this style as a reference: 'Chen Nuo Treats the Golden Horse Awards Like a Child's Play, Where is the Dignity of Taiwanese Cinema?' Editor-in-Chief Liao, do you understand?"

Liao Cheng-yuan, editor-in-chief of the Liberty Times, said on the other end of the phone, "Okay, Mr. Tsai, I understand."

"Okay! You've all worked hard tonight. Let's get overtime, and it'll be in the paper tomorrow!"

"okay, I get it."

Cai Songlin hung up the phone, a cold smile playing on his lips.

First, they used the Liberty Times to sensationalize the situation, portraying Chen Nuo as someone opposed to the Taiwanese film industry, thus stimulating the island's public's "desire to defend" local films.

In the following days, Sanlih TV and Sanlih Metropolitan Channel, in conjunction with newspaper media coverage, invited various so-called "film critics" and "industry insiders" to their programs to launch a verbal attack on Chen Nuo. This kept the topic a hot one, maintaining its popularity.

In this process, not only will their own entertainment industry become the main platform for people on the island to vent their emotions, but they will also attract more traffic and attention.

Similarly, it can further deepen the rising "local sentiment".

It can be said that killing two birds with one stone.

Cai Songlin smiled and stood up from the chair in the study, preparing to go inside to rest.

Suddenly the phone on the table rang again.

He's the manager in charge of 24/7 public opinion monitoring within the group. This position was created by Cai Songlin to monitor public opinion trends in a specific area to avoid misjudgments and taking the wrong side. He had saved him on several occasions before.

And tonight, without a doubt, it worked once again. "President Cai..."

Cai Songlin answered the call and listened, his expression changing rapidly.

After hanging up the phone, he immediately turned on his computer and logged onto a webpage.

As expected, the media accounts he followed on the webpage had all reported on the recent incident, just as he had mentioned on the phone.

Besides entertainment media outlets like Variety, The Hollywood Reporter, and TMZ, even major public television networks such as CNN, BBC, ABC, NBC, and CBS have reported on this event from across the ocean via their Twitter accounts.

Seeing that these renowned American media outlets were reporting on this matter, Cai Songlin rubbed his eyes to make sure he wasn't seeing things.

After he calmed down, he clicked on the CNN tweet titled "Chen Nuo refuses two Golden Horse Award winners, casting doubt on the credibility of Chinese-language film awards."

The text reads:

Breaking news: At an Asian film awards ceremony called the "Golden Horse," which most Americans have never heard of, our well-known film star Nuo Chen was humiliated by local judges.

"In the Best Actor award that he should have won, the award ceremony judges put him together with another unknown local actor, and they shared the Best Actor trophy."

Despite the malicious humiliation, Chen maintained his gentlemanly demeanor, standing on the podium to express his gratitude. During the subsequent press interview, he only expressed his dissatisfaction with silence, leaving the trophy that represented the humiliation on the table.

"As always, he displayed a subtle yet elegant Eastern charm when faced with contradictions."

Do you think his approach was appropriate? Please leave your opinion in the comments section.

@JohnSmith87: "Nuo Chen's response was cool, just like my impression of him. This lousy award doesn't deserve him at all. Leaving the trophy on the table is the best response, elegant and powerful!"

@MovieFanatic22: "I support Nuo Chen! He was completely humiliated. An international superstar was dragged down to share an award with an unknown? These judges must be crazy."

@LisaNYC: "What class! I would have thrown the trophy in the judge's face. Motherfucker, come back to America, this kind of thing will never happen here."

@CinemaLover99: "Silence is often more powerful than a thousand words. This kind of ridiculous award is a joke, and he shouldn't have participated. I absolutely demand that he leave there immediately!"

@TomLA1990: "This is the first time I've heard of this award, the Golden Horse? It sounds strange. Luckily, Chen didn't take it, otherwise it would have severely damaged his image."

After reading the main text and more than ten comments in the comment section, Cai Songlin was stunned for a long time when he saw the almost unanimous opinions.

Then, he checked his watch, picked up the phone again, and dialed.

"Hello, Mr. Cai."

"Editor-in-Chief Liao, have you written the article on the topic I just mentioned?"

"Huh? Only half an hour has passed, Mr. Cai. It can't be that fast. I just gave the order, and now..."

"No, no, no, it's good that it wasn't written. Listen to me..."

……

The following day, when the newly published Liberty Times launched its first attack on the Golden Horse Awards with an article titled "The Tragedy of the Golden Horse" on its front page, it truly shocked countless people.

When Huang Jianye was having breakfast at home, he saw the Liberty Times, which he had subscribed to for more than ten years, specifically criticizing him for being "petty and harmful to others and himself," and saying that he had "turned the highest award in Chinese-language cinema into a joke" and "destroyed the credibility of the Golden Horse Awards for 47 years." He could hardly believe his eyes.

He couldn't even eat, so he picked up the phone and dialed.

The other end answered very quickly, as if they had been waiting for his call.

Huang Jianye said angrily, "Old Cai, what do you mean?"

Cai Songlin said, "Old Huang, you really made a mistake this time. What you did has really ruined the Golden Horse Awards, and may even have harmed Taiwan. If I were you, I would immediately step forward to admit my mistake and give them an explanation."

Upon hearing this, Huang Jianye trembled with rage. "What did you say? What did you say before? You said everything we did was for..."

"Old Huang, alright, the past is the past, and the present is the present. It doesn't matter if you don't apologize, I can't force you anyway, right? In this matter, I'm sorry, I can't take your side anymore. You've already ruined Jinma, I can't let you continue to harm Taiwan!"

"You, you! You're the one who's ruining Taiwan!" Huang Jianye was so angry he couldn't even speak. He clutched his chest and took a few steps back, when suddenly he felt dizzy.

By the afternoon, news of Huang Jianye's heart attack and hospitalization had spread like wildfire online.

Since Huang Jianye is about to die, it's not appropriate for everyone to kick him while he's down.

But besides Huang Jianye, there are so many other judges, aren't there?

When the remaining sixteen judges were also drawn into the vortex, the first to be uneasy were naturally the judges who were not from Taiwan Province. For them, this was simply an undeserved disaster.

Although the Golden Horse Awards stipulate that discussions among judges are strictly confidential and confidentiality agreements have been signed, some information has still leaked out from who knows where.

When the South China Morning Post published an article on December 22 titled "Chen Nuo's withdrawal from the award humiliates the Golden Horse Awards, or does the Golden Horse Awards bring shame upon itself?", it revealed some of the inside stories of the 47th Best Actor selection.

The article mentions that Huang Chien-yeh, along with seven or eight other judges from Taiwan Province, stubbornly stuck to their own opinions and voted in unison during the Best Actor selection process. They refused to listen to any opinions or engage in any constructive discussions. In the eleven rounds of voting, they remained tightly knit and even uttered highly unprofessional remarks such as "Don't try to convince us, just vote for yourselves," which makes one wonder about their political stance.

Finally, after more than 10 rounds of ties, Huang Jianye suggested referencing the previous year's tie, even though he was opposed by all the judges except those from Taiwan Province. He insisted on making the decision, which was infuriating.

This article, which originated from an unknown person, was like a bombshell dropped into a calm lake, immediately causing a huge uproar on the internet once again.

"Who says the Golden Horse Awards should stay away from politics? Huang Chien-yeh and his gang are clearly up to no good."

"No wonder a film like 'When Love Comes' can win Best Picture."

"You can have your own Golden Horse Awards from now on."

"Disgraceful, it's a complete joke."

"Chen Nuo did the right thing. What's the point of keeping such a trash trophy? It's too dirty to even throw it away!"

Not only mainland netizens, but also netizens in Hong Kong and Taiwan have expressed their strong opinions on their respective social media platforms.

The Golden Horse Awards organizing committee couldn't sit still any longer. On the afternoon of the same day that the South China Morning Post's report was published, they released a statement online.

In the statement,
The statement began by condemning the unnamed judge for leaking remarks made during the judging discussion, calling it a serious violation of the confidentiality agreement, and stating that an internal investigation would be launched to hold those responsible accountable.

Secondly, the fairness and professionalism of the Golden Horse Awards selection were reiterated, emphasizing that the tie result was "after several rounds of intense discussion, the jury unanimously recognized the outstanding performances of the two actors," and was not political interference or bias as speculated by outsiders.

Finally, it even refuted the rumors that Chen Nuo refused to accept the award, saying that his trophy was simply "accidentally left behind at the scene," and stated that it had contacted Chen Nuo's team to return the trophy in hopes of quelling the controversy.

The first two are one thing, but the last one is so funny it'll make netizens laugh their heads off.

Before netizens in mainland China and Hong Kong could even start criticizing, local media in Taiwan couldn't sit still any longer.

Mikasa Television, which was originally known for its controversial content, has once again surprised everyone by criticizing the Golden Horse Awards.

In the program "News Deep Throat", guests Huang Zijiao and Chen Wenqian, along with host Zheng Hongyi, talked about everything from the judging mechanism of the Golden Horse Awards to the controversy that ultimately led to Chen Nuo's withdrawal from the award.

Huang Zih-jiao said, "...If that's the case, who will come to the Golden Horse Awards in the future? Then we'll just be playing by ourselves."

Chen Wenqian said: "First of all, Hou Hsiao-hsien should come out and publicly explain the situation and apologize to the public. Secondly, he should invite Chen Nuo back and take the trophy back."

"The funniest thing is the claim that it was left at the scene; I even suspect that the person who released this article is an inside agent."

"Does anyone have Chen Nuo's phone number? Could someone please call and ask if he has really forgotten?"

"Hahaha, who would believe such blatant lies?"

Unexpectedly, some people actually took action to inquire about it.

A persistent reporter from Taiwan's Apple Daily, displaying an unyielding spirit, dialed Huanxin Company countless times, repeatedly pleading for an interview. After much cajoling, Huanxin Company finally sent a representative to briefly address the relevant questions.

The reporter posed the first question: "Did Chen Nuo forget to take the trophy with him, or did he deliberately leave it behind?" The person in charge replied: "He probably forgot; Mr. Chen has a bad memory."

The reporter then followed up with, "When will Chen Nuo go back to collect the trophy?" The other party replied, "He's very busy right now; we'll have to wait until Mr. Chen has time."

The reporter then asked, "Could the organizing committee send the trophy over, for example, to Huanxin Company's address?" Before the reporter could finish speaking, the phone rang a few times, and the other party hung up.

The Apple Daily in that issue ran a report titled "Chen Nuo 'Forgot' the Trophy? A Complete Joke," which was full of sarcasm towards the Golden Horse Awards organizing committee.

This almost completely confirms Chen Nuo's decision to withdraw from the award. The Golden Horse Awards' reputation has plummeted to rock bottom.

At the same time, it may be a case of everyone kicking someone when they're down.

Taiwan's United Daily News has dropped another bombshell, claiming that in addition to Huang Chien-yeh, director Niu Cheng-ze of Mengjia, although he did not vote, also used various means, both overt and covert, to persuade the judges to ensure that his own leading actor was selected.

This has pushed the controversy surrounding this year's Golden Horse Awards to another climax.

Mainland media outlets such as NetEase, Sina, Tencent, and Sohu, Hong Kong's Ming Pao, Oriental Daily News, South China Morning Post, and Hong Kong 01, and Taiwan's Apple Daily, Liberty Times, United Daily News, and China Times—media from across the three regions have once again launched a fierce attack on the Golden Horse Awards for its unfairness and alleged cliques.

Even Chen Nuo's fans in the United States started using the hashtag "#JusticeForChenNuo" on Twitter to support his decision to withdraw from the award, believing it to be the best response to the "self-destruction of credibility" by an obscure, small award.

"How to do?"

Hou Hsiao-hsien was forced to convene the Golden Horse Film Festival Executive Committee for discussion at this time.

The atmosphere in the conference room was heavy. Hou Hsiao-hsien sat at one end of the long table, rubbing his temples, and said in a low voice, "This matter has already escalated to the international stage. The things Huang Chien-yeh and his gang have done have put us in a very difficult position. I think if we don't do something soon, we really won't be able to save the Golden Horse Awards."

"Fortunately, Chen Nuo didn't say anything more," Zhang Aijia said.

Hou Hsiao-hsien said, "I have to thank Director Lee for this."

Ang Lee nodded slightly, frowning as if troubled: "But now we need to come up with a solution to quell this matter as soon as possible. Every day we delay, the credibility of the Golden Horse Awards will be weakened."

Hou Hsiao-hsien closed his eyes briefly, recalling his decision to appoint Huang Chien-yeh as chairman of the jury, a decision filled with deep regret. Finally, he sighed and said, "Now that things have come to this, there's only..."

Under overwhelming media pressure, the Golden Horse Awards organizing committee had no choice but to hold a press conference at 12 p.m. on Christmas Day, December 25.

At the meeting, Hou Hsiao-hsien, chairman of the Golden Horse Awards, read out a second apology statement.

The statement apologized for the recent uproar and promised to pay more attention to the transparency and fairness of the judging process in the next Golden Horse Awards, so as to prevent similar controversies from happening again.

Finally, he resigned on the spot, having one year left in his term, and announced that Sylvia Chang would succeed him as the new chairman of the executive committee.

Thus, the controversy surrounding the double-yolk egg gradually subsided.

Like a broken mirror, it finally seemed to be stitched back together with difficulty.

However, to see how this mirror truly looks, whether it has truly been restored to its former glory and is now as bright as new, we can only wait until the 2011 Golden Horse Awards.
Count the entries, check out the celebrities present, and then make your judgment.

……

December 26, 2010, the first day back to work after the Christmas long weekend.

Chen Nuo flew from Toronto to Los Angeles early in the morning and went straight to a conference room in Hollywood to meet with the Oscars directing team to discuss the details of hosting the program.

In the conference room, director David Hill and producer Donna Gigliotti had been waiting for a long time, with coffee cups and script drafts scattered on the table.

David smiled and stood up to shake hands with Chen Nuo as soon as he saw him: "Nuo, we've all heard about the Golden Horse Awards. I must say I'm absolutely on your side."

Chen Nuo smiled and said, "David, thank you. Your comfort has made me feel much better."

David laughed and said, "I know you've got everything sorted out. Their chairman resigned yesterday, didn't he? I saw it on TMZ about Lu."

Chen Nuo waved his hand and said with a wry smile, "Don't mention it, this isn't what I wanted. I just... never mind. Come on, let's start talking about work."

David nodded and said, "OK, Chen. Now, Donna will tell you about some of our current thoughts while you're back in China."

Donna immediately said, "You're an excellent host. We studied your performance on SNL, and I really liked your wit and natural humor on stage. We want you to bring that energy in, especially considering your recent experiences, plus some banter—the audience will absolutely love it. And then..."

Chen Nuo listened to Donna's idea.

To be honest, it's pretty old-fashioned and shabby.

The process was exactly the same as it had been for the past ten, twenty, or even thirty years, and the set design, lighting, and other aspects were exactly as he had heard when he signed the contract—this was an Oscars that was extremely strapped for cash.

Lacking funds, Donna had no choice but to rely on comedic sketches.

But Chen Nuo didn't want to.

The opening act includes jokes, song and dance performances, and more.

He found it incredibly boring.

Moreover, he is not a very good host.

All the praise he received before was simply because, five years after his rebirth, he finally got to enjoy the benefits that all reborn people enjoy, becoming a glorious creative plagiarist.

That's right, on SNL, from the jokes to the hosting style, he imitated David Chappell the whole time when he returned to the stage ten years later.

Given this, he adopted a "might as well copy" mentality for his trip to the Oscars, and had already planned how he would handle being forced into hosting the Oscars.

After Donna finished explaining her idea, he coughed lightly and said, "Donna, I'd like you to ask around among advertisers to see if any mobile phone manufacturers are willing to have their phones featured in the main shots at the Oscars and pay a sponsorship fee. Also, what's the name of the biggest pizzeria near the Kodak Theatre?"
