Chapter 507 A Love That Will Never Break Up
Faced with her teasing, Gu Ronghui showed no displeasure whatsoever; her dark eyes were filled with joy. "How did you get here?"

Lu Shengsheng walked over and casually tossed her handbag aside. "The driver took the wrong route and took me to the back door."

Gu Rong raised an eyebrow: "Didn't Old Ma give you one?"

“Tingting wanted to go to the movies, so Lao Ma took him,” Lu Shengsheng explained succinctly, then paused to change the subject, “How were you today?”

"I have a slight fever and a bit of a cough," Gu Rong replied, adding, "I only had one video conference today."

The implication is that I don't have a job and am very obedient.

If he had a tail, it would be wagging high in the sky right now.

Lu Shengsheng nodded in satisfaction, "Hmm, not bad."

"That's it?" Gu Ronghui was somewhat disappointed.

"What else do you want?" Lu Shengsheng glared at him. "Do you want me to give you a little red flower?"

"No need," Gu Rong shook her head, then tentatively asked, "Would you like to stay for dinner tonight?"

Lu Shengsheng nodded without hesitation, "Okay."

Gu Rong was surprised that she agreed so quickly and was a little incredulous. "Really?"

“Can you take a day off just to have a meal?” Lu Shengsheng picked up the cup next to her and handed it to him. “Drink more water. Ask the kitchen to make something light for dinner. I have to go to the film set soon, so I can’t indulge myself.”

"Okay." Gu Rong nodded, picked up the landline by the bed, and called the housekeeper to make arrangements.

Lu Shengsheng didn't really have anything to do when she came. She sat down and looked at her phone, but Gu Ronghui stared at her intently, as if he couldn't get enough of looking at her.

That evening, Gu Rong didn't go downstairs. She had the servants deliver the food to the second-floor dining room so that she and Lu Shengsheng could be alone together without being disturbed by others.

After dinner, Lu Shengsheng checked the time and told him to take his medicine. She then picked up her handbag and said, "I'm going back."

"Sheng Sheng..." Gu Rong called out to her, his eyes full of reluctance.

"Take good care of yourself. I'll be joining the crew soon, and I won't have time in a couple of days."

Gu Ronghui understood her implied meaning and couldn't help but smile. "Okay."

Gu Rong's illness came on suddenly and dragged on for too long, so it took her quite a while to recover.

Lu Shengsheng joined the crew to repay a favor and made a cameo appearance for a few days.

After filming wrapped, she returned to Guanhe Villa.

Not seeing Lu Yunchuan, she asked Aunt Sun, "Where's Tingting?"

"Mr. Gu is here. Let's take him to fly a kite on the lawn behind the house," Aunt Sun said with a smile.

There is a large green lawn behind the villa, where many people walk their children when the weather is nice.

Lu Shengsheng changed into some comfortable clothes and walked over in slippers.

From afar, Gu Ronghui was seen squatting down, teaching Tingting how to fly a kite. Although there were quite a few people flying kites, it was immediately noticeable that their kite was the highest.

Lu Shengsheng didn't approach, but instead found an open space, sat down cross-legged, and watched the scene unfold.

Gu Rong noticed her first, told Tingting to learn how to put things down on her own, then turned around and sat down next to her. "All done!"

Lu Shengsheng nodded, "It's a cameo role, not a big one. How about you? Are you done?"

"It wasn't a big deal to begin with," Gu Rong retorted stubbornly.

Lu Shengsheng didn't expose him.

When Lu Yunchuan saw her, he waved happily, "Mom, look at my kite, it's flying the highest!"

Lu Shengsheng waved her hand, nodded with a smile, and then called out, "Gu Ronghui."

"Hmm?" He turned his head to look at her face.

Lu Shengsheng looked away and met his gaze. "I really liked you, I really liked you."

Gu Rong was slightly taken aback, her eyes instantly filled with panic, "Sheng Sheng..."

Lu Shengsheng seemed not to hear him and turned her head to continue, "Later, I really let go of you and wholeheartedly loved Lu Wenzhou. The so-called love for only one person for a lifetime and unwavering devotion until death are just things in TV dramas. At least it's not like that for me."

It's true that she likes Gu Ronghui, and it's also true that she loves Lu Wenzhou.

Gu Ronghui felt as if his heart was being tightly gripped, the pain making it hard to breathe. "Sheng Sheng..." he said, his voice filled with unbearable bitterness.

Lu Shengsheng seemed not to hear, "Lu Wenzhou is gone. I used to think I would never be with anyone again in my life, but now..."

She paused, then turned her head, her almond-shaped eyes clear and frank, "If you don't mind that he'll always be in my heart, consider it a moment of impulsiveness on my part, or perhaps I was just looking for someone to settle for. I'm willing to be with you, if you're willing too..."

Before she could finish speaking, Gu Ronghui lowered his head and sealed her lips with his.

His words abruptly stopped as Lu Shengsheng pushed him away, asking, "What are you doing?"

"I do!" Gu Rong said in a deep, earnest voice, "Sheng Sheng, I do."

It was as solemn as reciting wedding vows.

Lu Shengsheng looked around in a panic. Fortunately, no one noticed them. She pinched his arm and said, "If you agree, then you agree. Don't get physical. Mind your image."

Gu Rong initially thought that she was going to push her away again, not even giving her a chance to look at her from afar, but unexpectedly...

The situation took an unexpected turn, and she gave herself such a big surprise.

Despite his advanced age, he was as excited as a young boy, yet he feared it was all just a dream.

"I...I'm just so happy."

He reached out and grasped Lu Shengsheng's hand, his hand trembling with excitement. "I never expected you would be willing to give me another chance."

Lu Shengsheng tried to shake off his hand but couldn't, so she let him hold it. "You don't need to be too happy yet. I just agreed to date you. I have no intention of marrying you, let alone having another child with you."

She was afraid that having another child would cause Tingting to suffer.

“It’s okay. If you don’t want to get married, we can date for the rest of our lives. I never thought about having another child anyway.”

Gu Rong had witnessed how she had given birth to Tingting back then, and how much pain she had endured. How could he bear to let her suffer through it again?

"We just need to stop and go."

Anyway, the Gu family still has Gu Jingchen, so it's not like they necessarily need him to carry on the family line.

Lu Shengsheng smiled, "Then let's try our best to have a love that never ends."

"Okay." He nodded.

I didn't cherish her affection and love before, but I will never let her down again this time.

Lu Yunchuan's kite got tangled with the person next to him, and he shouted anxiously, "Daddy, save me! Please save my kite..."

“Here you are…” Gu Rong released her hand, stood up and walked towards Lu Yunchuan.

"Gu Ronghui," Lu Shengsheng called out to him.

"What's wrong?" Gu Rong stopped in her tracks.

Lu Shengsheng looked up at him and said, "Say you love me."

Gu Rong replied without hesitation, "I love you."

Lu Shengsheng was dissatisfied. "Speak louder."

"Lu Shengsheng, I love you," he shouted with all his might.

People around cast curious and scrutinizing glances.

Lu Shengsheng accepted those gazes with composure and said with a smile, "I understand."

Upon hearing their words, Lu Yunchuan immediately dropped the kite string and rushed over, asking, "Can I start calling you Dad now?"

Gu Rong hugged him tightly. "Yes, you can call me Dad now."

“Dad…Dad…” Lu Yunchuan was overjoyed.

“Hey!” Gu Rong responded to him.

Looking at their happy faces, Lu Shengsheng's eyes were full of a relieved smile.

Letting go is not only about letting go of Gu Ronghui, but also about letting go of yourself.

Let's start over and try to keep their story going!
