Chapter 884, page 94: This doesn't mean he lost!

As Hansen and Song Zhaomei disappeared behind the hidden door, Li De quickened his pace.

He rolled to the side and back, dodging a sweeping steel tail whip. At the same time, the 'Discard' pistol spat fire again. This time, the bullets were not aimed at the dinosaur or Murphy, but at the environment, just like the previous bullets.

The bullets accurately shattered several key lighting sources on both sides of the passage, instantly dimming the light in the area. The lingering water mist became even more hazy in the dim light, further interfering with the mechanical deinonychus that relied on optical sensors to distinguish objects.

In just a short encounter, Li De had already grasped the weakness of the Deinonychus.

The 'monsters' produced by biotechnology are terrifying, but in the end, they are just beasts that imitate the creatures of the past. These beasts, which cannot even reach the level of human intelligence, can only hinder Li De.

Using the changing light and shadow, Li De no longer tried to confront the 'impenetrable wall' in front of him head-on. He used the grappling hook to move quickly between the passage and the wall, no longer pursuing a rapid breakthrough, but doing his best to test the sensory blind spots and reaction patterns of these mechanical creatures.

Finding a weakness and then striking a fatal blow is the approach of a secret agent like Li De.

The more Li De understands, the more lethal his attacks will be. Once he has a thorough understanding of what is in front of him, a single fully charged bullet may be enough to easily take down the troublesome Deinonychus.

Just like how he had dealt with every enemy before.

After several rounds of back-and-forth, Li De keenly noticed a key detail: whenever Murphy made a tactical gesture or moved, the Deinonychus's movements would be extremely slow, as if it were receiving and confirming instructions, while when he actively interfered with Murphy's line of sight and used the environment to create complex sounds, their reactions would become relatively rigid.

While dodging the attacks of the mechanical dinosaur, Li De's mind raced.

These creatures behave rigidly and require Murphy's real-time command at crucial moments, as if they are running a pre-set automatic behavior template. They lack true hunting intelligence and rely entirely on basic instincts to attack—which may mean that this aspect of biotechnology is not yet perfect.

The template they are using is probably still the same as that of 'bionic organisms'. They are still one crucial step away from becoming truly controllable and ready for real-world application.

This thought instantly reminded Li De of the previous attack on the biotechnology construction site. That incident was no secret in the intelligence circle. Anyone with a bit of inside information knew that the real target of the attack was an underground laboratory disguised as a construction site.

A hypothesis took shape in his mind.

The underground laboratory that was attacked was very likely the research and development site for these unfinished Deinonychus dinosaurs, products that had not yet achieved true 'success'.

Since there is such an obvious flaw, things become much easier.

These creatures need Murphy as the final filter for battlefield information and a supplement to decision-making. After Hansen, Murphy is clearly the only person who can command them. So, as long as Murphy is eliminated, these creatures will no longer be able to stop him.

With a clear mind, there's no need to hesitate in taking action.

Li De pretended to rush towards the closed secret door, luring Murphy to move the Deinonychus forward to block it. Just as the two dinosaurs moved in opposite directions, briefly obscuring Murphy's field of fire, Li De flicked his wrist, and the last smoke grenade rolled to his feet.

Thick gray smoke erupted again, instantly engulfing the entire passage.

"Maintain formation! Don't let him break through in the chaos!" Murphy shouted through the smoke. He didn't need to shout; he could have just given the order through his personal terminal. But the tension made him shout out involuntarily, ordering the dinosaurs to tighten their defenses and protect the direction of the secret door.

Although the secret door will not open again once it is closed, just to be on the safe side, Murphy will absolutely not let Reed get close to the route that might lead to Colonel Hansen's capture!

However, Li De's true target was never the secret door that required time and unknown methods to crack; only his black figure flashed through the smoke. "You've got it wrong, Murphy, I'm not going over there."

Before the words were even finished, as Murphy instinctively looked toward the source of the sound and raised his 'Ghost Hound' Copperspotted Serpent to fire, on the other side of the sound, a grappling hook tore through the smoke, and Li De's figure swung out from Murphy's blind spot above and to the side.

After feinting to the east while attacking in the west, Li De uttered the second half of his sentence.

"I'm here to see you off."

The 'Discard' pistol was not charged; instead, it fired at maximum rate of fire, spraying all the remaining bullets at Murphy's lower limbs and the arm holding the gun!

"Puff puff--!"

Murphy screamed as he was shot in the leg and hand, collapsing to his knees. His 'Ghost Hound' Copperhead assault rifle flew out of his hand.

Without Murphy's immediate command and fire support, the mechanical deinonychus's movements became noticeably chaotic, and their sensors struggled to lock onto the fast-moving Lid amidst the smoke and strong interference.

Li De landed without pausing, ignoring the dinosaur that was temporarily no longer a threat, and stepped forward, pressing the cold muzzle of his gun against Murphy's forehead.

"The control code for the secret door, or I can open it my own way, it'll just take a little time." Li De's tone was flat, but the killing intent within it was unmistakable.

Murphy gritted his teeth and glared, but looking into Li De's emotionless eyes and the mechanical dinosaur in the distance that seemed somewhat lost due to the loss of command, he realized that his value was rapidly diminishing.

Without a doubt, he couldn't stop this top agent.

Li De lived up to his reputation. Even as Colonel Hansen's bodyguard in the Ghost Hounds, one of the top five fighters in the Ghost Hounds, he couldn't last a minute against Li De. However, this doesn't mean that Murphy really lost!

Albert Murphy, who became Colonel Hansen's bodyguard and second-in-command, was absolutely trustworthy in terms of loyalty.

Faced with Li De's threat, Murphy's face twisted into an almost distorted smile. At the same time, at his silent command, the eyes of the two stiff Deinonychus flashed red and suddenly pounced from Li De's blind spot!

Without a word or further explanation, Li De, sensing the sound of the Deinonychus behind him, pulled the trigger without hesitation.

"boom!"

A short gunshot rang out, and Murphy's body went limp to the ground.

Easily dodging the Deinonychus, which had lost Murphy's control and whose movements were now predictable and harmless, Li De focused on the hidden door and began to move swiftly.

Distance from nuclear explosion.

Thirty minutes left.
