Chapter 9 You are awesome
Huo Jingyuan first called his grandparents to let them know he was safe.

Hearing the old man across from him ask about the Jiang family's daughter.

Huo Jingyuan paused for a moment, then said slowly, "She's a little different from what I imagined. She's quite lively and speaks very boldly."

The old man on the other end of the phone couldn't stop laughing as he listened to his grandson chatting away with his wife.

Huo Jingyuan has a rather cold personality.

I thought he would never marry and have children in his life.

To fulfill his grandfather's last wish, he married a woman he had never met before. The elderly couple were initially worried that the couple would not get along.

Now it seems.

Huo Jingyuan was very satisfied with the marriage.

When Wen Ci returned to the Huo family home, he saw Huo Jingyuan on the phone. Without disturbing him, he placed the enamel bowl in the kitchen and poked at the dough with his hand.

"If you're hungry, I'll cook for you right now?"

"Let's wait until it wakes up."

Wen Ci also knew that the dough would be chewier after it had rested.

"Who did you just call?" Wen Ci asked.

"My grandparents."

Wen Ci made an "oh" sound, and then thought that since she was married to Huo Jingyuan and was his granddaughter-in-law, shouldn't she go and visit them?
"Would you like me to go with you to see them?"

Huo Jingyuan shook his head: "It takes us two days to get there by train, and then another four or five days to get to the Northwest from there. We don't have enough time during the holiday."

After saying that, Huo Jingyuan smiled and said, "We'll go see them during the Chinese New Year holiday."

Wen Ci was making plans in her mind.

There are still six months until the Chinese New Year, which gives me time to prepare mentally. As the old saying goes, even an ugly daughter-in-law has to meet her in-laws eventually.

After waiting for half an hour, the dough had risen. Huo Jingyuan sprinkled some flour on the cutting board, boiled water, and cut the dough into pieces. The process was extremely simple.

In just a few quick movements, all the dough was cut, stretched, and set aside while waiting for the water to boil so the noodles could be added.

Huo Jingyuan took two bowls and added some of the usual toppings. He boiled the water, put the knife-cut noodles into the water, and then used a spoon to scoop some water into the bowls. He poured the boiling water over the lard, instantly releasing its aroma.

Wen Ci swallowed hard.

She couldn't wait to try this bowl of knife-cut noodles.

Huo Jingyuan picked up the cooked knife-cut noodles with chopsticks, added the vegetables he had brought back from the cafeteria on top, and stirred them well. The whole room was filled with a delicious aroma.

Huo Jingyuan was carrying two bowls of noodles when he turned around and saw Wen Ci leaning against the kitchen wall, smiling as she said, "The knife-cut noodles are ready. Let's eat."

"Mmm!" Wen Ci nodded vigorously.

At the dinner table, Wen Ci held the bowl of knife-cut noodles covered with scrambled eggs and tomatoes in both hands. She looked at Huo Jingyuan with admiration in her eyes and gave him a thumbs up: "You're really amazing. You can tell this noodle is delicious just by smelling it."

How can there be.

Huo Jingyuan blushed a little at what was said.

Wen Ci took a bite of the noodles. The knife-cut noodles were chewy and had the added aroma of lard. She looked up and asked curiously, "Besides noodles, can you make anything else?"

"will not."

Huo Jingyuan answered truthfully.

He's usually so busy in Northwest China that he doesn't have time to learn how to cook. The reason he knows how to make noodles is because they're simple and convenient; he just needs to prepare the dough in advance in the morning.

"So you're just eating noodles in the Northwest?"

Huo Jingyuan shook his head: "Not really, I go to the cafeteria occasionally."

"Ok."

Wen Ci felt it was a bit of a pity. A man like Huo Jingyuan could make noodles so delicious. If he could cook other dishes, they would definitely taste amazing.

Are you planning to take a nap at noon?

Huo Jingyuan had developed the habit of taking a nap during his two-hour lunch break in the Northwest Military Region, but he wanted to see if Wen Ci had made any arrangements.
