Chapter 42 Holding me means they don't want me to leave
The staff noticed her concerns and said, "Ms. Shen, don't worry, this is a female. She has a gentle personality and just gave birth to a baby recently. She's only two months old."

Shen Guining reached out and stroked the Great Pyrenees' back. "Is it one of your dogs?"

The staff member nodded. "Yes, it's our manager's dog."

"Can you take me to see its babies?" Shen Guining asked.

"Of course," the staff member said. "Originally, there were five cubs, but two of them were weak and did not survive, so now there are only three left."

The Great Pyrenees are kept in a small wooden cabin behind the clubhouse, with a small courtyard. Sunlight shines directly down and falls on the brown wooden walls, casting dappled light and shadow.

Beside the small wooden stake, several fluffy little white balls lay on the ground sunbathing, their bellies exposed, looking quite content.

So cute, like a round little meatball.

Perhaps sensing the unfamiliar presence, one of the little creatures rolled over and stood up, rubbing against Shen Guining's feet and even tugging at her trouser leg.

"So cute." Shen Guining squatted down and rubbed the little guy's head. It felt like cotton, so soft.

The staff had never seen the little guy so clingy before. "Ms. Shen, it really likes you."

Shen Guining smiled and said, "I like it very much too."

Having such an adorable puppy at home would be the ultimate happiness.

The other two seemed more introverted, playing by themselves and not liking to talk to others.

The lively one kept circling around Shen Guining, wanting to play with her.

The staff brought out several bottles of goat milk from inside to feed them. "Don't underestimate them because they are so small now. In a few months, they will grow to fifty or sixty pounds."

Large dogs tend to grow up quickly; they're cute as puppies and powerful as adults.

Shen Guining held the little one in her arms, completely captivated, and played with him until she lost track of time.

When Qu Yanci arrived, he saw her sitting on the steps playing with the puppy.

The scene was so harmonious that one couldn't bear to break it.

The little guy wanted to climb the steps, but his legs were too short, and he couldn't climb them no matter what he tried.

Shen Guining laughed at it, "Short legs."

The little guy weakly protested, "Ouch..."

"You'd better sit still." Shen Guining patted its head, then suddenly caught sight of a tall figure a few meters away. She looked up and called out, "Mr. Qu."

The manager standing next to Qu Yanci smiled and said, "Miss Shen likes dogs too?"

"Hmm." Shen Guining got up and walked over.

The little one followed her closely.

After a moment's thought, the manager said, "Miss Shen, you can take one home if you wish."

Shen Guining exclaimed in surprise, "Huh?"

The manager said, "I can't keep up with these three little ones once they grow a little bigger. I was originally planning to give two of them to friends. If Miss Shen likes them, it's a kind of fate."

Shen Guining was indeed tempted, and looked at the man beside her, "Mr. Qu, can I take care of you?"

After all, I live in his apartment, so I naturally need his permission to keep pets.

Qu Yanci didn't miss the expectation in her eyes, "It's your decision."

Shen Guining hesitated.

The manager was only willing to give her a Great Pyrenees dog because of Mr. Qu's influence; it seemed inappropriate.

"No need, I've never owned a dog before and have no experience," she declined politely, making an excuse. "Mr. Qu, let's go back."

Qu Yanci gave a soft "hmm".

When the little guy saw Shen Guining about to leave, he cried out a few times and tried to chase after her, but was carried into the house by the staff.

Shen Guining quietly glanced back.

Back in the car, Qu Yanci asked the little girl, "If you like it, why don't you keep it?"

Shen Guining blinked. "I told you, I have no experience..."

Qu Yanci looked directly into her eyes. "I like to hear the truth."

Shen Guining pursed her lips and said frankly, "If I accept the manager's kindness, wouldn't you owe him a favor?"

Favors are the hardest to repay.

Qu Yanci's thin lips moved slightly, "So considerate of me?" Shen Guining lowered her eyes.

She just didn't want to owe him too much.

"Those are the truths. I don't know much about Great Pyrenees dogs and I'm afraid I won't be able to raise them well."

Qu Yanci changed the subject, "Back to the theater tomorrow?"

Shen Guining shook her head, "I asked the director for two more days off, and I'll go back to the troupe once my back has healed."

She can't practice dancing like this now.

Qu Yanci's gaze swept over her waist. "Don't be so stubborn in the future."

Shen Guining obediently replied, "Mm."

The drive home took more than an hour. She was a little sleepy and fell asleep in the car, not even knowing when she got home.

In her hazy state, her cheek pressed against a broad, warm chest, and she unconsciously snuggled closer.

Qu Yanci carried the person to the bed and put them down, saying, "Let go."

The little girl was still clutching his shirt.

Hearing the sound, Shen Guining slowly woke up, her eyes still sleepy. "Hmm... Mr. Qu, are we home yet?"

Qu Yanci bent over, his body hovering above her. "Are you holding me because you don't want me to leave?"

Shen Guining was still not fully awake, and a soft sound escaped her throat: "Mmm..."

Perhaps because she was thirsty, she stuck out her tongue and licked her lips.

Qu Yanci's eyes darkened as he gently pinched her chin. "Are you awake?"

Shen Guining paused for a moment, her vision gradually clearing, and she could see the face so close to hers. "Qu..."

He was forced to swallow the rest of his words.

Qu Yanci lowered his head to kiss her, skillfully parting her lips and teeth.

"Um..."

Shen Guining opened her mouth to receive the breath, which was gradually taken away by him.

My mouth was filled with his taste.

Qu Yanci braced his hands on either side of her, his broad shoulders and back completely obscuring the little girl, making the difference in their physiques obvious.

The muscles in his upper body stretched the shirt taut.

Shen Guining was almost out of breath, her cheeks flushed red, and her ears were burning hot, the heat spreading down from her ears.

Qu Yanci released her lips to let her catch her breath, but his kiss did not leave the little girl, landing on her neck and collarbone.

Shen Guining's chest heaved as she called out to him in a low, hoarse voice, "Mr. Qu."

The man stopped what he was doing, his gaze locking onto her eyes, and said in a deep voice, "Awake?"

"Mmm." Shen Guining's eyelashes trembled, and her eyes were wet at the corners.

Qu Yanci leaned down again and kissed her earlobe. "Want to kiss me a little longer?"

Shen Guining felt as if she had been electrocuted, her skin tingling, and she instinctively dodged to the side.

Her ears are exceptionally sensitive.

Qu Yanci chuckled softly, his chest heaving.

Shen Guining didn't know how long the kiss lasted; in the end, her lips were swollen.

Qu Yanci left the second bedroom and went back to the master bedroom to take a shower.

The door closed, and Shen Guining sat on the bed to calm her breathing, her peach blossom eyes slightly moist and red.

The man's scent lingered in the air for a long time.

My neck feels damp and itchy.

Shen Guining looked in the mirror and thankfully, his kiss wasn't too hard and left no marks.

She was actually very nervous when Mr. Qu kissed her.
