Chapter 224 Yu Wanqiu Zhou Chongli

Chapter 224 Yu Wanqiu × Zhou Chongli (8)

Yu Wanqiu broke free from her restraints, saying, "I have no appetite, I don't want to eat."

She wouldn't deliberately harm her body.

Zhou Chongli raised his hand and leaned against the door. "Where do you feel unwell? Should we go to the hospital?"

"I don't want to go." Yu Wanqiu disliked the smell of hospitals; just thinking about it made her feel short of breath and nauseous.

Before Zhou Chongli could say anything more, Yu Wanqiu suddenly felt dizzy, staggered, and fell to the side.

He quickly reached out to support him, "What's wrong?"

Yu Wanqiu felt weak all over and her head was spinning. She collapsed into his arms and fainted.

Zhou Chongli immediately picked her up, hurried downstairs, and instructed the servants, "Prepare the car to go to the hospital."

Aunt Qin, unaware of what was going on, quickly called the driver.

Without a moment's delay, Yu Wanqiu was taken to the nearest hospital for a check-up.

Aunt Qin went along.

After learning about Yu Wanqiu's symptoms, the emergency room doctor looked at Zhou Chongli and asked, "Are you Miss Yu's boyfriend?"

Zhou Chongli nodded. "Is there something wrong with her?"

The doctor said, "Our initial assessment is that she is pregnant. She hasn't been getting enough nutrition lately. We'll take her to the gynecology department for a thorough examination once she wakes up."

"Pregnant?" Zhou Chongli's expression froze.

"Yes, the pulse is correct." The doctor added a few more words of advice, "Pregnant women must keep a cheerful mood, pay attention to their diet, and get plenty of rest, otherwise the fetus may become unstable."

"Okay, thank you, doctor." Aunt Qin breathed a sigh of relief and said with a smile, "So you were pregnant. It's good that everything is alright."

Zhou Chongli remained silent, his eyelids lowered, his eyes dull and lifeless.
-
When Yu Wanqiu woke up, she smelled a pungent disinfectant odor and her thoughts were hazy and confused.

Aunt Qin stood guard beside her, saying, "Xiao Qiu, you're awake."

Yu Wanqiu paused for a moment, then sat up in bed. "What's wrong with me?"

"Slow down." Aunt Qin carefully supported her, propping a pillow up behind her back. "The doctor said you're probably pregnant and need to eat more. You can't keep skipping meals, for your own health and the baby's sake..."

Yu Wanqiu's mind went blank; she didn't hear what she said afterward at all. "...I'm pregnant?"

"The ER doctor said it's highly likely, and we can confirm it by scheduling a gynecological exam tomorrow." Aunt Qin was genuinely happy for her, thinking that having this child might ease the tension between her and her husband.

Yu Wanqiu touched her lower abdomen, her fingertips trembling slightly.

Is she really pregnant?
It's her and Shi Yang's child. If they hadn't broken up, they would probably have looked forward to the birth of this child and built a happy little family together.

Lost in thought, the door to the ward was pushed open.

Zhou Chongli walked in.

Yu Wanqiu looked up and their eyes met.

Aunt Qin was very perceptive; she made an excuse to leave the two of them alone, saying, "I'm going out to get some hot water." She closed the door.

Zhou Chongli stepped forward and approached the bedside.

He was covered in the chill of the night and a faint smell of smoke.

Yu Wanqiu had a vague feeling that he must have been standing outside for a long time.

The weather has turned cold recently, with temperatures dropping to around 10 degrees Celsius at night. However, he was dressed very lightly, wearing only a short-sleeved shirt with noticeable wrinkles, and his hair was also slightly disheveled.

The air fell silent.

Yu Wanqiu moved her lips slightly, "I might be pregnant, but I won't abort the child."

She paused, then said in a weak tone, "Please let me go."

Yu Wanqiu was certain that someone as proud as Zhou Chongli could not possibly accept that she was carrying another man's child.

But she was wrong.

Zhou Chongli dismissed her unrealistic idea, saying, "I can't let you go."

Yu Wanqiu immediately became agitated, instinctively protecting her lower abdomen with her right hand. "You can't make me abort the child! You have no right to do that!"

Zhou Chongli looked at her with a complicated expression, and after a long while, he finally said, "You can give birth to her."

He wouldn't be unable to afford to raise another child.

Let it be... to make up for the child they were destined to never have.

He had wronged her too much in the past.

Yu Wanqiu thought she had misheard and stared at him in astonishment, "What did you say?"

How could he possibly accept someone else's child?
Zhou Chongli repeated calmly, "If the child is born, I will treat it as my own."

"You can't go anywhere but stay by my side."

Yu Wanqiu didn't understand why he insisted on keeping her by his side.

When did he become so paranoid?
-
The next day.

Yu Wanqiu went to the gynecologist for a detailed examination, which confirmed that she was four weeks pregnant.

The doctor asked her, "Have you been pregnant before?"

Yu Wanqiu paused for a moment, then nodded gently, "Five years ago, I was in poor health and had a miscarriage."

The doctor said, "Your blood and qi are weak, and your immunity is low. In layman's terms, you are prone to miscarriage. You must be extra careful. During your pregnancy, make sure to get plenty of nutrition, eat small meals frequently, get plenty of rest, and avoid fatigue. If you feel unwell, go back to the hospital immediately."

Yu Wanqiu wrote everything down. "Okay, I understand. Thank you, doctor."

The doctor glanced at the man behind her and added, "The baby's father should also pay close attention to the pregnant woman's emotions and try to keep her in a good mood during the pregnancy."
