Chapter 460 Let's see who's the real deal!
"Sink one enemy ship!" shouted the gunners of the Conqueror excitedly.
However, Virtual Universe Company didn't gain any advantage either. The Annihilation's super main cannon was incredibly powerful; the deep red beam of light struck a capital warship, and the massive energy shock caused the entire warship to shake violently, reducing the strength of its energy shield by thirty percent.
"Shield strength is decreasing!" the warship's captain urgently called out. "Requesting backup!"
"Third squadron, cover the damaged warships as they retreat to the rear!" Morris quickly ordered.
Several escort ships immediately rushed forward, using their energy shields to help the damaged warship withstand the attack, while escorting it to the rear of the fleet.
The fighter jets also engaged in fierce combat. Virtual Universe's fighter jets and Kara fighter jets crisscrossed the asteroid belt, engaging in thrilling aerial dogfights.
A silver fighter jet nimbly weaved among the meteorites, its small energy cannons under its wings firing continuously, shooting down three Kara fighters that were pursuing it. But at that moment, five more enemy aircraft flanked it from another direction.
"Damn it, there are too many," the pilot cursed, jerking the rudder. The fighter jet made a sharp turn, dodging the oncoming energy beam, and then disappeared behind a massive meteorite.
The pursuing Kara fighters kept close behind, but just as they rounded the meteorite, three Virtual Universe Corporation fighters, which had been lying in ambush, opened fire simultaneously. Caught off guard, all five enemy aircraft exploded into fireballs.
Similar battles unfolded across the entire battlefield. Fighter squadrons were losing at an extremely rapid pace, with several fighters being shot down almost every second. But the pilots did not back down; they knew their mission was to wear down the enemy and create opportunities for the main fleet.
"The enemy lost more than a thousand fighter jets, while we lost six hundred," the intelligence officer reported.
“Continue,” Morris said calmly, “the mission of fighter jets is to deplete the enemy’s manpower.”
The artillery battle between the main fleets had also entered a fierce stage. The warships on both sides fired continuously, and energy shells formed dazzling streaks of light in space.
The Conqueror sank five Kara frigates and one capital ship, but its own energy shield was weakening. The Annihilation's firepower was too intense; the 8,000-meter-long behemoth was like a mobile fortress, and each salvo from it could severely damage a capital ship.
“We can’t keep going like this,” Eric frowned. “The Annihilation’s firepower is too strong. If we don’t take it down, our losses will be huge.”
“I know,” Morris said, a glint in his eyes as he looked at the holographic star map. “Prepare for a decapitation strike. Eric, Leah, you two come with me. We'll launch a direct assault on the Annihilation and kill Carax.”
"Understood!" The two nodded.
“Rowan,” Morris turned to the three, “you three come with us. While you're not strong enough to fight Carax, you can help us clear out the other powerful individuals on the Annihilation.”
“Yes!” Rowan and the other two responded immediately.
"All ships, listen to my command!" Morris gave the final order. "Conqueror, full speed ahead! Target—Destroyer! All other ships, provide full cover and clear a path for us!"
The Conqueror's engines were pushed to their maximum power, and the giant ship's speed increased dramatically. Like a sharp sword, it charged straight towards the heart of the enemy fleet.
The Kara fleet had clearly noticed the Conqueror's intentions. Dozens of warships turned their guns around, concentrating their firepower on the Conqueror. Countless energy shells rained down upon it.
"Full power on energy shields," the captain of the Conqueror ordered. "All energy will be transferred to the shield system, and firepower output will be reduced by fifty percent."
A blue energy shield formed a massive sphere of light around the Conqueror. Energy projectiles struck the shield, creating ripples, but failed to penetrate it.
At the same time, the other warships of the Virtual Universe Corporation opened fire at full speed, suppressing the firepower of the Kara fleet. In an instant, the entire battlefield became a sea of energy storms, with explosions and flashes of light everywhere.
The Conqueror, braving enemy fire, tore a path through and charged toward the Annihilation.
The two giant ships were now less than a kilometer apart. In space warfare, that distance was practically hand-to-hand combat.
"Fire!" both the Conqueror and the Annihilation gave the order simultaneously.
All the cannons on both giant ships fired simultaneously, and the energy projectiles collided at extremely close range, causing the explosions to violently shake both warships. The Conqueror's energy shield finally gave way, cracking as it opened. The Annihilation's situation wasn't much better; its shield was also flickering and on the verge of collapse.
"Now!" Morris shouted. "Everyone, follow me!"
He was the first to burst out of the Conqueror, followed by Eric, Leah, and Rowan. Six figures streaked across the universe, heading straight for the Annihilation.
The hatch of the Annihilation Ship opened, and a gigantic figure flew out. It was a five-meter-tall Kara being, covered in crimson armor, with six pairs of energy wings unfurled from its back, radiating a terrifying aura.
“Carax,” Morris said in a deep voice.
“Lackeys of Virtual Universe Corporation,” Carax’s voice was low and filled with murderous intent, “daring to invade my Carax Starfield, today is your burial ground!”
"Anyone can talk big," Maurice sneered. "Let's see what they've got!"
Two fourth-tier cosmic-level powerhouses collided instantly, the resulting energy surge distorting the surrounding space. Eric and Lia also encountered the other Kara powerhouses flying out of the Annihilation Ship.
The entire battlefield descended into chaos. Fleet artillery battles, fighter jet aerial combat, and clashes between the strongest warriors unfolded simultaneously. Energy storms swept across everything, even pulverizing nearby meteorites.
Rowan and his two companions avoided the battle between the cosmic-level powerhouses and rushed towards the Annihilation. Their mission was to infiltrate the warship and sabotage its propulsion system.
But just as they were about to approach the Annihilation, three figures blocked their way.
"Trying to infiltrate our flagship? Dream on!" The leader was a General Karax, clad in black armor with bloodshot eyes. "I am Barton, the captain of His Majesty Karax's personal guard. You three juniors, I'll handle you!"
Behind Barton were two Kara powerhouses, both at the ninth level of the Stellar Realm.
"This is troublesome," Hong said in a deep voice, "Three ninth-tier Stellar-level beings; we're probably no match for them."
“We have to fight,” Rowan gripped his silver longsword tightly. “We have no way out!”
“That’s right,” Thor said, his body crackling with lightning. “Come on, let’s show these aliens what Earthlings are capable of!”
Three-on-three battles unfolded in space. Around them, a grand fleet war continued. Countless energy projectiles streaked across the dark cosmos, explosions erupting one after another.
This battle has just begun.
On the battlefield, explosions echoed continuously, and shockwaves spread outwards in concentric circles. A Virtual Universe Corporation frigate was besieged by three Kara warships; its hull was hit in multiple places, and its energy shield was on the verge of collapse. The captain gritted his teeth and ordered, "Activate the self-destruct sequence! Charge towards the nearest enemy ship!"
The frigate suddenly accelerated, colliding head-on with a Kara capital battleship. The Kara ships scrambled to avoid it, but were too slow. At the moment of impact, the frigate's reactor exploded, the resulting energy storm engulfing the Kara capital battleship. Boom!
In the violent explosion, both warships perished, turning into dust in space.
"The seventh frigate has been damaged in battle!" the intelligence officer reported, his tone tinged with tragedy, "but at the same time, one enemy capital ship was sunk!"
Similar horrific scenes played out repeatedly across the battlefield. It was a true war of attrition, with both sides fighting for victory with blood and lives.
On the bridge of the Conqueror, the first officer, his face grave, stared at the rapidly changing damage figures: "The captain has gone into battle. According to his pre-battle orders, I am now assuming command. All ships, listen up! Concentrate all energy into the main guns and prepare to fire the Star Destroyer!"
"Star Destroyer Cannon charging. 10%, 30%, 50%."
The super cannon at the bow of the giant ship began to gather terrifying energy, and the blue light grew brighter and brighter, like a star about to explode.
The Annihilation had clearly taken note of the threat. Its first officer issued the same order: "Activate 'Light of Destruction,' target the Conqueror!"
The ultimate weapons of the two super battleships were fully charged almost simultaneously.
"Star Destroyer Cannon fully charged, fire!"
"Light of Destruction, fire!"
Two terrifying beams of energy shot out from the flagships of both sides. One was a dazzling blue, the other a deep crimson. They collided in space, and the resulting energy fluctuations caused the entire battlefield to tremble.
Boom, boom! ! !
The terrifying explosion's light illuminated star systems several light-years away. The shockwave swept across everything, affecting dozens of nearby warships and hundreds of fighter jets; their shields shattered instantly, and their hulls twisted and deformed.
When the light faded, both super battleships were severely damaged. The Conqueror's bow was sheared off, and dozens of its main guns were destroyed. The Devastation was in even worse shape; a huge hole had been blasted through its entire port side, exposing countless compartments to the vacuum of space.
Rowan and his two companions faced off against Barton and his two companions in the vacuum of space, their auras colliding and creating visible energy ripples.
“Earth brats,” Barton sneered, cracking his knuckles as the patterns on his black armor began to glow. “To have gotten this far shows you have some skill. But unfortunately, this is your graveyard.”
"Enough with the nonsense," Rowan gripped his silver longsword, the storm-law patterns on its blade beginning to flicker. "Want to kill us? Let's see if you have the ability!"
Before he could finish speaking, Rowan struck first. His figure vanished instantly, using the Storm Law to create a miniature spatial distortion in the vacuum, and the next second he was behind Barton, his longsword aimed straight for the latter's back.
“Not bad speed,” Barton said without turning his head, an arm formed from dark energy suddenly extending from behind him and precisely grabbing Rowan’s sword. “But not fast enough against me!”
The dark energy arm suddenly exerted force, throwing Rowan flying. Rowan rolled several times in the vacuum, using the power of the storm to stabilize himself.
"Such a fast reaction speed," Rowan thought with a chill.
At the same time, Hong and Thor also faced two other Kara warriors.
Hong's opponent was a burly Kara warrior wielding a giant warhammer. The warhammer was three meters long, its head engraved with patterns of lightning laws, and each swing produced a deafening roar.
"Diamond Barrier!" Hong's entire body shone with golden light, and golden law power formed a solid armor on his body.
boom!
The giant hammer slammed into the golden armor, producing a deafening metallic clang. The terrifying impact sent Hong flying hundreds of meters backward, but his defenses remained intact.
"Such a hard tortoise shell," Kara warrior's eyes flashed with surprise, "but I'll see how many of my attacks you can withstand!"
He swung his hammer again, this time faster and with greater force. The laws of lightning gathered on the hammerhead, forming a thick bolt of lightning.
On the other side, Thor faced a powerful female Kara wielding dual blades. She was agile, her blades dancing in her hands like a net of swords, each strike imbued with the sharp, metallic laws of nature.
"Purple Heaven Divine Thunder!" The Thunder God clasped his hands together, and countless purple lightning bolts struck down from the void.
The female Kara warrior sneered, crossed her twin blades, and the light of the blades formed a defensive barrier, deflecting all the lightning.
"The Law of Lightning? Coincidentally, that's exactly what I excel at dealing with lightning-based martial artists," her twin blades suddenly blazed with golden light, "The Law of Metal restrains Lightning; this is a universal truth!"
Her figure transformed into a golden light, her twin blades slashing towards Thor. Thor hurriedly dodged, but her speed was too fast, and he was still slashed on the shoulder.
"Damn it," Thor clutched his wound, the purple blood scattering into glistening droplets in the weightless state.
The three battles unfolded simultaneously, and Luo Wen and his two companions were all at a disadvantage. Their opponents not only had higher cultivation levels but also extremely rich combat experience; every move they made was perfectly timed and flawless.
“This won’t do,” Rowan telepathically communicated to his two brothers while dodging Barton’s attacks. “We must coordinate and pick them off one by one!”
“Understood!” Hong and Thor responded simultaneously.
The three, acting as if on cue, instantly changed tactics. Rowan feigned a mistake, getting struck in the chest by Barton's palm and flying backward. Barton, thinking he had succeeded, immediately pursued, intending to deliver the fatal blow.
But just as he caught up with Rowan, Hong suddenly appeared beside him.
"Diamond Shattering Fist!"
A golden fist slammed towards Barton's head. Barton was forced to change the direction of his attack, using his dark energy arm to block. The two forces collided, and the resulting shockwave sent both of them staggering back several steps.
In that instant, Thor swooped down from above.
"Purple Sky Pierced Through!"
The lightning, condensed to its maximum, transformed into a spear, aiming straight for Barton's back. Barton was startled and hastily dodged to the side. The lightning spear grazed his shoulder, leaving a charred mark on his armor.
"Damn it!" Barton roared, his dark energy erupting. "How dare you hurt me!"
