Chapter 387 Emergency Situation
Chapter 387 Emergency Situation
We got separated!
"Where is the commander?"
"How the hell are these walls moving by themselves?!"
The mercenaries' voices grew fainter and fainter, clearly indicating that they had been dispersed to different areas by the organization.
"We succeeded," Luo Feng breathed a sigh of relief, "At least we've shaken them off for now."
“But we must also be careful,” Rowan cautioned. “These institutions are equally dangerous to us. We must find a way out as soon as possible.”
The two continued their journey through the ever-changing passages, using their telekinesis to sense their direction. Despite the complex environment, their telekinesis allowed them to perceive the overall structure of the passages, preventing them from completely losing their bearings.
After a difficult half-hour march, the two finally saw a light ahead. It was another exit of the pyramid, leading to the misty world outside.
"We're finally going to get out!" Luo Feng said excitedly.
“Yes, but our troubles aren’t over yet,” Rowan said, his face grave as he looked at the exit. “The entire Black Shark Mercenary Group now thinks we’re thieves. If this misunderstanding isn’t cleared up, we won’t be able to move an inch in the Misty Forbidden Zone.”
"Then what should we do?" Luo Feng asked.
“Let’s leave here first and find a safe place before making any plans,” Rowan decided. “Maybe we need to find a way to prove our innocence, or…”
"Or what?"
“Or we could simply leave the Forbidden Mist Zone and abandon this expedition,” Rowan said helplessly. “It’s a pity, but safety is more important.”
The moment the two stepped out of the pyramid, the chilling aura unique to the Forbidden Mist once again enveloped them. Compared to the warmth and brightness inside the pyramid, the outside world felt exceptionally oppressive and dangerous.
“We must make a decision now,” Rowan said, calmly analyzing the situation as he looked at the distant, faintly visible mist. “Continuing to remain in the Forbidden Mist will only lead us into greater trouble.”
"You mean we're just going to leave?" Luo Feng asked, somewhat unwilling. "But we haven't gotten anything of value yet."
“Life is more important than treasure,” Rowan said firmly. “Besides, the entire Black Shark Mercenary Group now sees us as enemies, and staying will only make things more dangerous.”
"Then how do we leave?" Luo Feng asked. "Our spaceship is still outside the forbidden zone, but there are probably mercenary groups guarding that area as well."
Rowan pondered for a moment, a dangerous glint in his eyes: "We'll steal their spaceship."
"Steal a spaceship?" Luo Feng was taken aback. "Wouldn't that be too risky?"
“There’s no other choice now,” Rowan explained. “Since they treat us like thieves, we might as well be real thieves. No matter how we explain, they won’t believe we’re innocent.”
“You make a good point,” Luo Feng nodded in agreement, “and seizing their spaceship could also be considered an act of self-defense.”
"The problem is, how are we going to find their ship?" Rowan frowned. "The Misty Forbidden Zone is so vast; their ship could be parked anywhere."
“I remember when we first entered the forbidden area, Karl mentioned that their spaceship was parked in the canyon to the north,” Luo Feng recalled, “about thirty kilometers from where we are now.”
“Thirty kilometers.” Rowan calculated the distance. “If we travel at full speed, it will probably take two hours. But the problem is we need to be careful to avoid the other members of the mercenary group.”
“They should still be trapped inside the pyramid,” Luo Feng analyzed. “Those ancient mechanisms aren’t easy to crack; they should at least delay them for a few hours.”
“Then let’s set off now,” Rowan decided. “While they’re still trapped, let’s seize the spaceship and get out of here.”
The two began heading in the direction they remembered the spaceship was parked in. The terrain of the Misty Forbidden Zone was complex and varied, filled with strangely shaped rocks and bottomless fissures. To make matters worse, the dense fog severely impaired their vision, forcing them to rely solely on their telekinesis to perceive their surroundings.
"The fog here is thicker than before," Luo Feng noticed as they moved forward, "and I sensed some strange energy fluctuations."
"It could be an effect of the pyramid's mechanisms being activated," Rowan analyzed. "The technology of ancient civilizations is indeed mysterious and unpredictable."
The two continued onward, but soon encountered new trouble. While passing through a seemingly peaceful area, the ground suddenly began to shake violently, and then several enormous subterranean creatures emerged from the soil.
These creatures resemble giant worms, exceeding ten meters in length, and are covered in a hard exoskeleton. Most terrifying are their mouths, densely packed with sharp teeth, seemingly designed specifically to tear apart their prey.
“Native monsters from the Forbidden Mist,” Rowan immediately became alert. “Be careful, these guys are very aggressive.”
As soon as he finished speaking, one of the giant worms lunged at Luo Feng, its gaping maw emitting a foul stench. Luo Feng dodged the attack with ease, simultaneously striking the worm in the head with a punch.
"Bang!" The huge impact sent the worm flying backward, crashing into a rock with a dull thud.
“Their defenses are very strong,” Luo Feng said, cracking his fist. “Ordinary attacks have limited effect on them.”
At the same time, several other worms began to attack. Although their movements appeared clumsy, they were surprisingly fast, and their attack methods were very diverse. Some directly rammed into the worms with their bodies, while others sprayed corrosive liquid from their mouths.
“These guys are troublesome,” Rowan said, dodging attacks, “but we can’t waste too much time here.”
"Then let's finish this quickly," Luo Feng agreed.
The two no longer held back and began to seriously deal with these subterranean creatures. Although they were currently only planetary-level warriors on the surface, their actual combat experience and skills far surpassed those of ordinary planetary-level warriors. Soon, several giant worms were defeated and burrowed back underground.
"Finally resolved," Luo Feng breathed a sigh of relief, "but will this kind of battle reveal our location?"
“It’s possible, but we have no other choice,” Rowan said, looking around. “Hopefully, Carl and the others are still trapped inside the pyramid and haven’t noticed what’s going on here.”
The two continued their journey, and after two hours of arduous trekking, they finally arrived at the canyon to the north. It was a relatively secluded location, surrounded by towering rock walls, indeed an ideal place to park the spaceship.
“I see it,” Luo Feng pointed deep into the canyon, “there’s a medium-sized transport ship there.”
Sure enough, at the deepest part of the canyon, there was a silver-gray spaceship. The spaceship had a simple and practical design, clearly of military specifications, and the Black Shark Mercenary Group's insignia was also printed on its hull.
“It looks like there’s no one guarding it,” Rowan said, carefully observing the area around the spaceship. “That’s good news for us.”
“Something’s not right,” Luo Feng suddenly noticed the anomaly. “There’s an energy shield around the spaceship, and I can sense the presence of mechanical devices.” Luo Wen carefully sensed the surroundings and indeed discovered the anomaly Luo Feng described. Although it appeared unguarded, the spaceship was actually in automatic defense mode, and there seemed to be some kind of mechanical device operating inside.
"It seems the Black Shark Mercenary Group wasn't completely unprepared," Rowan analyzed. "They must have left behind some kind of automated defense system."
"Then what should we do?" Luo Feng asked. "Force our way through the defense system?"
“Let’s try to find a weakness in the system first,” Rowan said cautiously. “If that doesn’t work, then we can consider a direct attack.”
The two began to carefully examine the spaceship's defense system. Through telekinesis, they discovered that although the shields covered the entire spaceship, the energy density was relatively low at certain connection points.
“This might be the breakthrough point,” Rowan pointed to a spot on the bottom of the spaceship. “If we can attack several weak points simultaneously, we might be able to create an opening.”
“I’ll cooperate with you,” Luo Feng nodded in agreement.
The two began their operation, stealthily approaching the spaceship and simultaneously attacking the weak points of the shield. With precise telekinetic strikes, the shield indeed showed a brief fluctuation.
"We did it!" Luo Feng exclaimed excitedly.
However, their actions immediately triggered the spaceship's alarm system. A piercing alarm echoed through the canyon, and simultaneously, the spaceship's hatch suddenly opened, and a tall, mechanical figure emerged.
"Intruder warning! Intruder warning!" the mechanical device emitted a cold, electronic voice. "Activate defense protocols and eliminate the threat!"
This is an advanced combat robot, over three meters tall, made entirely of a special alloy, its surface shimmering with blue energy. Most striking is its weapon system; both arms are equipped with high-energy laser cannons, which appear incredibly powerful.
"The 'stay-at-home robots'," Rowan said gravely, "it seems the Black Shark Mercenary Group was indeed prepared."
"This level of combat robot is at least equivalent to the strength of a planetary-level eighth or ninth-tier being," Luo Feng quickly assessed the enemy's combat power, "It won't be easy to deal with."
"Warning ignored, attack procedure initiated!" The robot's eyes turned a dangerous red, and the laser cannons on its arms began to charge.
"Watch out!" Rowan shouted, and the two immediately separated.
"Boom! Boom!" Two thick laser beams shot out, striking the spot where the two had just stood. The hard rock was instantly melted, forming two deep craters.
"This power is truly astonishing," Luo Feng said while dodging. "If hit head-on, even a planetary-level martial artist would be seriously injured."
The combat robot's attacks were highly predictable, but it was precisely this predictability that gave the two men an opportunity. It required a short recharge time before each attack, and its turning speed was relatively slow.
“I’ll draw its attention, you attack from the side,” Rowan quickly devised a tactic.
"Understood!" Luo Feng immediately cooperated.
Luo Wen began moving rapidly in front of the robot, using the terrain to his advantage and constantly changing positions to draw its fire. At the same time, Luo Feng quietly circled around to the robot's side, looking for an opportunity to attack.
"Target is moving too fast, recalculating attack path," the robot's electronic voice indicated that it was adjusting its combat strategy.
"Now!" Luo Feng seized the moment when the robot adjusted and punched it in the side with all his might.
"Bang!" The huge impact made the robot stagger a few steps, but its armored defense was indeed amazing, and the punch only left a dent on the surface.
"Armor damaged by 15%, emergency repair program activated." The robot immediately began self-repair, and the damaged area was quickly restored to its original state.
"Damn it, it even has a self-repair function," Luo Feng said, a headache forming. "At this rate, we'll be worn down."
“We must find its core controller and strike it down,” Rowan calmly analyzed. “All robots have a control core; destroy that, and it will cease to function.”
"Where is the control core usually located?" Luo Feng asked.
“Usually in the chest or head,” Rowan replied, “but a combat robot of this caliber would definitely have special protection around its core.”
The two continued to contend with the robot while searching for its weakness. After careful observation, they discovered that the robot did indeed have a special armor plate on its chest, where the energy reaction was more intense than in other parts of its body.
“Under that armor plate on the chest,” Rowan pointed to the target, “that should be where the control core is located.”
“But the armor there looks the thickest,” Luo Feng said with some concern. “Can our attack penetrate it?”
“If we attack simultaneously, it should work,” Rowan thought. “We need to create an opportunity that prevents it from retaliating.”
The robot seemed to realize the two's intentions and began to adjust its combat strategy. It stopped attacking blindly and began to adopt a more conservative tactic, trying its best to protect its core components.
"Enemy tactical change detected. Adjust defense priority," the robot's voice remained cold. "Prioritize protecting core systems."
"It learned it," Luo Feng said, somewhat surprised. "This robot's AI level is very high."
“Advanced combat robots all have learning capabilities,” Rowan explained. “They constantly adjust their strategies based on the battle situation. We must end the battle as quickly as possible; the longer it drags on, the worse it will be for us.”
Just then, the roar of engines suddenly came from outside the canyon. It sounded like other aircraft were approaching.
"This is bad!" Rowan's expression changed drastically. "Karl and the others have probably escaped and are on their way."
“Then we must deal with this robot immediately,” Luo Feng also realized the urgency of the situation.
The two held back and launched a full-scale attack. Although they appeared to be only at the planetary level, their actual combat skills and experience far exceeded that level.
"Coordinate with my attack!" Rowan shouted, then charged directly at the front of the robot.
The robot immediately turned its cannon, preparing to attack Luo Wen. But at that moment, Luo Feng launched a feint attack from another direction, forcing the robot to lose focus.
"Multiple target threats, prioritize attacking the closest target." The robot chose to attack Rowan, and the laser cannon began charging.
But this played right into their scheme. In the instant the robot focused on attacking Rowan, its side was completely exposed to Luo Feng.
