Chapter 86 Heavy Rain
This is the hottest time of summer, with temperatures soaring.

This presents another new ordeal for the polar bears left on the island.

To withstand the extreme cold, polar bears have dark skin beneath their actually transparent fur, which helps them absorb more heat. They also have a thick layer of fat.

Being able to eat and drink to one's heart's content in the summer is a blessing for them, but it also adds some trouble to their lives.

The two bear cubs fell in love with playing in the water. Instead of focusing on observing how many small animals were stealing their prey each day, they spent most of their time in the water.

Polar bears' genetically ingrained talent allows them to swim even faster than Guo Mi!
Guo Mi was not discouraged and put in even more effort to learn to swim. She carefully observed the bear's movements and tried her best to imitate them. She then improved her movements by adapting them to her own body. Most importantly, she improved her endurance and made maximum progress in a very short time.

However, just as they had grown accustomed to the sun hanging high in the sky for long periods, a torrential downpour brought this solar feast to an end!
This is the first time Guomi has experienced the Arctic rainy season.

The sky darkened in a very short time, with black clouds spreading out.

Guo Mi crawled out of the hole and looked up. She felt as if the entire sky was falling, pressing down on her, silently telling the story of the heavy and solemn rain, making her chest feel heavy and oppressive.

After a flash of lightning accompanied by a deafening clap of thunder ripped through the sky, it was as if a hole had truly been torn in the heavens, and large raindrops poured out, crashing heavily to the ground!

The heavy rain lasted all day. At first, Guo Mi and the two little bears were able to hide in the cave, but later even the sheltered cave entrance began to be flooded with rainwater!
Guo Mi had no choice but to sheepishly slink out of the cave with the two little bears.

They struggled through the rain, the raindrops hitting their bodies causing a slight, dull pain even through their thick fur.

Especially when walking against the wind, the rain mixed with strong wind pelts down, making it hard to open your eyes, and even causing a sore feeling in your eyes.

Guo Mi's tall stature shielded the two bear cubs from most of the wind and rain. Finally, she managed to stop under a sloping, protruding rock, using the natural rock cover to shelter them from the storm.

At this moment, the surroundings were completely dark, with only the occasional lightning bolt that ripped through the sky giving the world a second or two of pale light.

The wind howled and roared mournfully amidst the rain, and the little bear pressed its face tightly against Guo Mi's body, trembling slightly whenever thunder rumbled.

Guo Mi, soaking wet, looked up at the sky, completely unable to tell whether it was getting dark or the clouds had completely blocked out the sunlight.

On the other side, Caesar and Slok were much more relaxed. They had experienced many thunderstorms like this before, and had at least found a place to take shelter before it started to rain.

Even so, they still inevitably got quite a bit of moisture on their bodies, and the rainwater seeping in from the cracks had already submerged their paws.

Slok raised his paws somewhat helplessly, and streams of water dripped down his already soaked paws, splashing into the puddles that had formed at his feet, creating a series of small puddles.

He turned to Caesar and said:

"The rain has been so heavy this year."

Caesar, sitting in the shadows, glanced at him lazily without saying a word.

Slok was already used to it; he knew that Caesar would generally consider his remarks as nonsense and rarely respond.

The male bear shook its wet paws, then stepped into a puddle on the ground with one paw. Immediately afterwards, it raised its other front paw, shook it again, and stepped into the accumulated water.

Caesar twitched his lips as he watched Slok's actions, not understanding the point of his claws swinging.

Slok raised his hind leg and kicked backward with force, saying as he kicked:

"If this rain keeps going like this, we'll have to leave. Otherwise, it'll be too late once the floodwaters rise."

With each kick of his hind legs, he splashed water onto Caesar's face. When the first drop hit his face, Caesar's eye twitched; when the second drop hit his nose, he gritted his teeth; with the third and fourth drops, Caesar's claws, hidden in the water, clenched tightly…

With his final kick, Slok's bear paw slammed backward across the water, sending a massive spray of water flying towards Caesar and drenching him from head to toe!
The bear, realizing its mistake, paused belatedly, slowly turned around, and suddenly met a pair of sinister eyes.

Slok's gaze swept over Caesar's wet head, and a chill ran down his spine.

He casually turned his head back, and before Caesar could raise his claws, he remarked inadvertently:
"Ah, I wonder how Guo Mi is doing now. She likes to live in the cave. With such heavy rain, the whole cave must be flooded."

Then, stiffening all over, I closed my eyes tightly and silently counted in my mind:
one two Three……

When he counted to five, Slok suddenly breathed a sigh of relief, secretly turned around, and saw Caesar staring at the stone in a daze. He muttered to himself that Caesar and Gomi were really awkward with each other.

After several more hours of struggle and torment, all the bears had gotten used to the deafening thunder and the wind and rain. As Guo Mi sat in the rain and even began to doze off, the raindrops hitting her began to decrease.

The torrential rain, which had been accompanied by strong winds and thunder, turned into a light drizzle. After enduring the rain for a day and a night, Guo Mi was exhausted. She felt a sense of relief and collapsed onto the ground, falling into a deep sleep in the rain.

As soon as the rain subsided, Caesar emerged from his shelter, and Slok shook off the water and followed him.

The male bear's relentless pace made it a clear target, and Slok realized it after only a couple of steps. He chuckled inwardly, but couldn't help making a cheeky remark:

"Didn't you say you weren't planning to go look for her?"

The bear walking ahead ignored him and quickened its pace.

Slok realized he was trying to shake him off, so he quickly shut his mouth and hurried after him.

As Caesar approached the cave entrance, he paused, sniffed lightly, then turned and headed in another direction.

Slok followed behind:
"What's wrong? Aren't you going again? Why are you walking this way?"

Caesar didn't answer, so he kept asking questions, making a terrible racket the whole way, until he saw Caesar stop. Only then did he stop, and when he went over to look, he was completely speechless:

Below the distant rocky peak, three bears huddled together, most of their bodies still submerged in water, fast asleep and completely unaware of their surroundings.

The little bear tilted its head and its nose went into the water, blowing a string of bubbles before it opened its eyes, half-asleep. It squinted and looked around groggily, then moved its body slightly, rested its head on Guo Mi, and drifted back to sleep.

Slok was dumbfounded and cried out:
"How can someone fall asleep like this?!"

Caesar stared intently at the three bears—one large and two small—in the distance for a long while before turning around and walking in another direction.

Slok paused, stunned:

"Aren't you going to go?"

Caesar didn't even turn his head:

"Don't go."

"But……"

Slok looked back at the three bears sleeping in a ball, but before he could say anything, Caesar had already walked away. He could only swallow the words that were on the tip of his tongue and quickly followed after him.
