Chapter 47 Differential Treatment
Chapter 47 Differential Treatment
The two male bears looked at each other, unsure of what she meant.
After a while, Slok tentatively took two steps forward and stammered, "..."
"Me, me?"
Guo Mi's eyes were kind, and her voice was gentle.
"Yes, come here, I'm going to 'make it up' to you."
Slok turned around instantly and cast a pleading look at his cold-blooded older brother.
Caesar immediately looked away, plopped down, looked up at the sky, and looked down at the snow, not sparing him a single glance.
Slok suddenly felt hurt, turned to look at Guo Mi again, swallowed hard, closed his eyes, and walked forward with a death-defying air.
Guo Mi turned around and picked through her pile of fish, selecting the largest one. She tossed it towards Slock with her paw and tapped it on the surface.
"Eat."
As soon as he finished speaking, Caesar, who had just been pretending to admire the scenery, immediately turned around and looked at Guo Mi in disbelief.
Slock's tightly closed eyes suddenly opened, and he looked at the fish in front of him in surprise. Then he looked up at Guo Mi, and after a long while, he hesitated and said:
"You really want me to eat this?"
Guo Mi tilted her head:
"Yes, didn't I say I'd make it up to you?"
Slok carefully observed Guo Mi's expression, and after confirming that she wasn't joking, he instantly shed his previous anxious and fearful look and said cheerfully:
"Then I'm not welcome!"
The newly joined silly bear was enjoying his fish, but another bear behind him broke down.
Caesar watched helplessly as Slok devoured the fish Guo Mi had given him. The joy he felt yesterday from Guo Mi sharing the fish with him vanished completely, and his inner resentment reached its peak!
Why? !
For so many days, he has been beaten for stealing two fish. Even yesterday, the fish that Guo Mi gave him was the smallest one she had picked out!
This stupid bear did nothing but get beaten up, and Guo Mi was able to treat him kindly and share her prey, including the biggest fish!
This is not fair!
But Slok was completely oblivious to the turmoil in his brother's heart, and he ate the fish that Guo Mi had given him whole.
Neither of the male bears liked fish fins. Yesterday, Caesar not only swallowed the piece of meat attached to the fin, but also the fin itself, completely.
Today it was Slok's turn. He still picked on the piece of meat that was attached to the fin and left it. He even disdainfully prepared to dig a hole and bury the remains!
Slok had just cheerfully dug through the snow when he heard Caesar's somber voice:
"Eat it all up."
At first, I didn't realize what was happening, but when I turned around, I met Caesar's chilling gaze!
Blinded by jealousy, the male bear stood beside the wreckage, baring his teeth and threatening his younger brother:
"Eat it all up, not a single bite, not a single bit left!"
Poor Slok had a feeling that Caesar had probably lost his mind, but he dared not say anything. Under Caesar's intense gaze, he silently ate all the fish remains that he had just picked out, and finally timidly licked the bloody snow clean.
Guo Mi was stunned. She had originally thought that Caesar would snatch the fish back and eat it, but the situation before her was completely unexpected.
What is this doing?
The next second, Caesar suddenly raised his head, looked at her with a mixture of resentment and anger, walked to the lakeside and sat down with his back to her. The pent-up frustration emanating from the bear was almost tangible.
On the other side, Slok ate Guo Mi's fish and immediately felt that the threat was gone. He went up to Guo Mi and started a conversation:
"Hehe, thanks for the fish."
Guo Mi was a little surprised. She had just been beaten so badly that she didn't dare to look at her, but now she dared to talk to her?
Out of the corner of her eye, she caught sight of Caesar, who was still sulking with his back to them. But she quickly realized it wasn't strange. She thought to herself, "I guess he's already used to it."
Slok sat next to Guo Mi, still savoring the taste of the fish. His gaze swept over the seal meat at Guo Mi's feet and the pile of fish beside her, deciding to try and get closer to her.
"Caesar said you adopted two little cubs... oh no, two bear cubs, is that right?"
Guo Mi answered casually:
"Correct."
Why are you asking this? Are you still after the little bear?
Noticing the sudden shift in Guo Mi's gaze towards danger, Slok quickly said:
"No, no, I won't bite the cubs. I love the cubs."
Guo Mi chuckled. Stupid bear. One second you were bitten for trying to hit a bear cub, and the next you're telling her you like bear cubs? Do you think she'll believe you?
Slok knew he looked like a conman, so to increase his credibility, he thought for a moment and then proactively mentioned:
"I also have a cub, but only one!"
As soon as he finished speaking, Caesar's ears twitched imperceptibly as he sat by the lake.
Guo Mi was quite surprised, since male bears don't have a concept of parenthood, right?
Slok chuckled twice, as if he had just thought of something: "Last year I got together with another female bear, and this year she gave birth to my cub and her cub. That's my first bear cub!"
He puffed out his chest as he said this, looking quite proud:
"He's growing really well, much bigger than other cubs his age, and very lively. He's already started learning to hunt."
He explained it in such detail that Guo Mi asked in surprise:
"How do you know all this? Have you ever seen the mother bear and her cubs?"
Slok stiffened slightly, glanced furtively at Caesar to make sure he didn't react, then turned back and lowered his voice to say:
"Yes, I've seen them from afar many times."
Guo Mi was also puzzled:
"Didn't you get close to them?"
Slok immediately lowered his head and said dejectedly:
"No."
Guo Mi understood that polar bears don't have a concept of fatherhood. First of all, it was already strange that Slok acknowledged his father's identity, but the mother bear was probably a normal one.
Regardless of whether Slok is the biological father of the cub, the mother bear will most likely prevent him from getting close to the cub, and may even turn against him for it.
Guo Mi thought for a moment, but still couldn't help asking:
"And what about you? Do you want to go see your little bear cubs?"
Slok's eyes lit up, then dimmed again. He glanced at Caesar's retreating figure and whispered:
"I want to, but I can't go see them."
Guo Mi noticed his gaze and was puzzled. He seemed to be very concerned about Caesar when talking about his little bear cub. Rather than being concerned, he was more cautious.
The bear cub is his and his mother's cub, what does it have to do with Caesar?
"Caesar won't let you see the bear cub?" Guo Mi guessed.
Caesar's twitching ears suddenly stopped, and Slok was also stunned for a moment before quickly denying it:
"No."
Guo Mi was puzzled:
"Then why do you keep looking at him?"
Slok pretends to be stupid:
"Have it?"
Guo Mi was very determined:
"Have."
After a brief standoff, Slok was the first to give in, and in a barely audible voice, he quickly said:
"He probably doesn't like me going to see the bear cubs."
These two brothers are really strange. Caesar said he wanted Slok to be independent, but he brought him back a short while later. Although he didn't explicitly tell him to stay, he obviously wouldn't force him to leave.
He said he didn't want to care about Slok, but in reality, his actions influenced him in every way. Guo Mi didn't believe he had never cared about his younger brother.
Despite being a male bear, Slok admitted to being the father of the cubs and even tried to get close to the mother bear and the cubs.
Guo Mi began to question what she knew. Could it be that polar bears really have a sense of family?
Slok, fearing the topic would continue, quickly said:
"I...I'm not full yet..."
Guo Mi snapped out of her daze, looked at the shameless bear in front of her, and her eye twitched!
What, he doesn't expect to live off her prey, does he?
Slok's gaze fell on the seal meat that Caesar had dragged back, which Guo Mi hadn't finished eating, and he chuckled wickedly.
"Hehe, how about this seal meat...?"
Guo Mi opened her mouth, but before she could speak, Caesar's angry voice rang out from the side:
"Can't!"
The two bears turned around at the sound, and Caesar had already rushed over from the lakeside, using his body to separate Gomi and Slok.
Slok was stunned.
Why? Didn't he used to be able to just take whatever food he wanted?
