Chapter 130 Desire and the Wolf Pack

"I will dig the hole open."

As Guo Mi's voice rang out, the fishbone guarding the cave ceiling dug open one of the holes.

The light filtering through the hole was like a glimmer of hope for escape.

Overwhelmed by despair and fear, the rabbit had long lost the ability to think. The moment it saw the light, all it could think about was escaping!
And so one, two, three...

One rabbit after another poured out of the burrow, just to fight for that sliver of hope!
In the end, without exception, they all died from the fangs and claws of the fish bones.

Fishbone was very good at controlling the timing; by the time the fourth rabbit rushed out, he had already covered the hole again.

The suddenly appearing escape route was blocked again, and from beneath the soil came the frantic and furious cries of rabbits.

Any creature that is given hope and then has that hope overshadowed by despair will eventually lose its mind if this happens repeatedly.

The salmon no longer stayed in the original hole, but instead used its claws to completely cover up the hole that had been dug out.

Now the last glimmer of light disappeared, and the entire rabbit hole was plunged into unprecedented darkness, where even the air had stopped flowing.

The two bear cubs waited quietly at the top of the cave, pressing their noses to the ground and sniffing carefully, finally stopping at the spot with the strongest scent.

If you listen carefully, you can hear the squeaking of rabbits coming from underground, which undoubtedly indicates that this is a place where rabbits gather.

They had a great understanding; they could know what the other was thinking with just a glance, without even saying a word.

The two bear cubs quickly switched places, with the salmon standing on top of the cave and the fishbone going to the first cave entrance that they had initially collapsed.

After a moment of silence, the salmon suddenly stood up high and then slammed its claws down!
The ground structure, hollowed out by the rabbit, was fragile, and the entire ground began to tremble!
When the rabbits inside the hole started to panic, the salmon claws dug hard and actually opened a new hole in the top of the hole!
This time, the sunlight streaming into the cave was no longer hope, but a death sentence!

Before the rabbits gathered together could calm down, a hole had been opened in their heads, and they were so frightened that they began to scatter to other parts of the burrow!

During the incident, the salmon even stuck its head into the rabbit hole and, taking advantage of the chaos, killed another rabbit and pulled it out.

The rabbit's neck was bitten off, and blood was everywhere, dripping into the hole along the edge.

A strong smell of blood permeated the enclosed space.

The rabbits, already on edge, lost their last shred of reason and began frantically ramming into the burrow. Some rabbits crashed into the burrow wall and died instantly, causing another commotion.

At this point, the fishbone resorted to its old trick, digging open the hole again and then waiting in front of it.

Soon, the area around him was piled high with rabbit carcasses.

When things calmed down in the cave, the little bear gathered all the rabbits he had hunted together, and there were a total of twenty-nine!
One rabbit hole was left open, and the rest were all blocked up.

It was eerily quiet inside, so deep that not a single ray of light could penetrate, as if all the rabbits had been killed.

The salmon glanced at it and then looked away.

The prey she caught today is enough for her and the fish bones to have a good, satisfying meal!
If there are any rabbits left in the burrow, they are lucky to be alive.

As the sun began to set, a dim, golden light enveloped the entire world. A little bear lay on top of the rabbit hole, embracing a rabbit and munching on it with relish.

Its fangs tore open the rabbit skin, devouring the fat and muscle to dispel the hunger in its stomach, and sucking the still-warm rabbit blood to quench its thirst of the past few days.

This is their prey, their spoils of war!

The strong smell of blood, carried by the wind, reached Guo Mi and Xia Tian.

Guo Mi stared blankly at the bear cub, its fur clotted with blood, its entire body stained crimson. In the dim sunlight, it looked as if the whole bear had been soaked in blood. She seemed lost in thought.

Summer, savoring the faint scent of blood, squinted her eyes contentedly, while her peripheral vision fell on the big white dog beside her.

The little guy's attention was completely drawn to the "rabbit feast" in the distance. He stood up straight, staring intently at it, and licked his lips.

Xia Tian chuckled and lay back down on the ground. Guo Mi could easily see the hunger for flesh and blood in the two bears; it was only at these moments that she remembered that she had once been a human.

But now, the nausea and urgency she felt before were gone; what rose in her chest was something she didn't want to admit, something she wanted to avoid...

The same desire.

Guo Mi looked at the sky and gave a bitter smile.

The little bear in the distance had a hearty meal and was fast asleep, clutching the half-eaten rabbit.

Big White watched them eat with longing eyes, craving it all night, and is now asleep next to Summer.

But both bears, without prior agreement, did not fall asleep.

Summer looked at the little bear at her feet, lowered her head and licked her tongue, then licked her little ears.

The sleeping bear let out a soft whimper, stretched out its tiny body, rolled around on the ground, rubbed its little head against its mother's belly, and then fell back asleep.

A tender look flashed in Xia Tian's eyes before she looked up at Guo Mi and asked with a smile:
Why aren't you resting?

Guo Mi remained silent, as if she were still in the twilight, still recalling the desire for flesh and blood she had shown at that time, her chest churning with aggression and murderous intent, and her desire to speak was not strong now.

Summer didn't pay much attention. She glanced at the little bear sleeping with its rabbit in the distance and sighed.
"She's still too young..."

So many rabbits were killed, and they were just left there.

As a cub, it was an insurmountable predator for rabbits and prey for other carnivores.

They make no attempt to conceal anything and dare to remain in the same place, obliviously falling into a deep sleep.

The overwhelming stench of blood won't deter those around it; instead, it will attract even more predators.

Summer still had the mood to joke with Guo Mi:

"Guess what's coming this time?"

Guo Mi didn't intend to remain silent this time, but before she could speak, a voice from afar answered for her.

"Oh-"

A long, mournful howl shattered the stillness of the night, and a pungent, fishy stench wafted on the wind.

Guo Mi could easily see those suddenly appearing, trembling points of light from the shadows; they were deep and menacing.

Those are the eyes of a wolf.

Some disappointments and difficulties can be experienced, endured, and adapted to by the cubs, while other difficulties must be overcome by the mother bear for her cubs.

The two bear cubs in the distance had been startled awake. They huddled together in fear, looking around anxiously, clearly realizing that they were in danger.

Big White also woke up. Hearing the howling of wolves, he first tried to figure out what was happening. After realizing that there was a large pack of wolves, he was terrified and wanted to seek his mother's protection.

Guo Mi and Xia Tian stood up at the same time. They had only taken a couple of steps when Xia Tian suddenly blocked her way:
"I'll go."

This unexpected move left Guo Mi utterly astonished.

When an adult polar bear faces a wolf alone, the wolf will inevitably retreat, but this is a pack of wolves!
Summer is not a meddlesome bear.

Xia Tian knew that her current behavior was not in line with her usual style, but it didn't matter. She was just interested in Guo Mi's educational methods.

“If you go now, all your previous efforts will be wasted. Catching a rabbit won’t be enough for a little bear to survive.”

Guo Mi hesitated, but Xia Tian had already stopped waiting and walked ahead first, her voice carrying back from afar:
"Keep an eye on my little bear cub."
