The Wolf of Los Angeles.

Chapter 4: Desperate Pursuit

Chapter 4: Desperate Pursuit
There was chaos downstairs. Hawke turned back and left, saying to David, "I have something urgent to do. I need to go back first."

David was surprised: "After filming this scene, the crew left. You're not going to collect your paycheck? We've been busy for a week!"

"You'd better leave early." Hawke quickly walked out of the bathroom, entered the emergency passage, and ran down the stairs.

Thinking of the person guarding the back door, he felt that there was most likely someone guarding the front door as well.

Hawke's previous judgment was that the other party had a gun.

Those with guns beat those without guns, that's like Tyson beating up elementary school students.

You can't go through the front door.

Arriving on the third floor, Hawke exited the emergency passage and looked down the long corridor. At the end of the corridor was a large window nearly as tall as a person.

He took off his coat that was in the way, removed his hood, threw it away, and ran towards the window.

……

Behind the building, Freddy came out from the crowd, wearing a black hood stained with blood. He walked quickly to the quiet place at the back door, took out his cell phone, made a call, and found out the situation.

He turned to the black man who had followed him and said, "That bastard didn't jump, go find someone!"

The black man held the microphone to talk and ran to the back door. The white man guarding the back door was the first to rush into the building.

Freddy called producer Bro again and said, "Something went wrong. That bastard said he was nervous and didn't jump. It was McGinn who jumped. I suspect he noticed something."

"Calm down!" Although the consumables were not aware of the consumables, Bro's tone was steady and he said calmly, "Deal with him alive."

If the safe plan A fails, then start plan B.

Bro was worried that the other party would come to the second floor, so he pressed the intercom and said to his assistant, "Call all the security guards of the crew over here."

Downstairs, Freddy hung up the phone, put on the headset, and pressed the call button: "Catch him."

……

At the end of the corridor on the third floor, Hawke opened the sliding window and quickly looked left and right. Sure enough, there was a lamppost more than eight meters high standing nearby.

But the lamp pole is not directly opposite the window, but slightly to the south, more than four meters away from the window.

Hawke stepped back more than ten meters, took a deep breath, ran as fast as he could, jumped onto the windowsill, and leaped suddenly.

He flew down like a big bird, stretched out his arms forward, and with his legs like old tree roots, he hugged the lamppost tightly, slid down in a circle, and landed steadily on the ground.

Hawke ran towards the building where the trailer was parked. In the stunt team's trailer, inside his coat were car keys and an M60 revolver.

There was a chill on my face and snowflakes were falling from the sky.

Hawke rushed across the open space in front of the building, broke open the door of the trailer, grabbed his coat, felt for the pistol key, and ran to the parking lot while putting on his coat.

On the second floor, in the producer's office, Bro had just come to the window when he saw the running figure. He immediately called Freddy and said, "He went to the parking lot."

Freddy notified the other three and they ran out of the building. The black man and a white man also ran out one after another.

There was another person who went up to the eighth floor and hasn't come down yet.

Freddy, who was in charge of the stunt team, had seen Hawke's car and pointed to the pickup truck backing out of a parking space in the far distance of the parking lot and shouted, "Over there, follow me."

The three of them had only taken a few steps when the pickup truck roared out of the parking lot.

Freddy ran madly, came to a black Mercedes, opened the door and got into the driver's seat.

After the other two got in the car, the Mercedes-Benz sped away like lightning.

The black man urged: “Chase after him!”

"He can't run away!" Freddy is a movie stuntman, and driving skills are his basic skills.

Although the pickup truck is no longer visible ahead, there is only one road that merges into the city's main road from here.

The snow gradually got heavier.

Hawke stepped on the accelerator to the bottom. The old pickup truck made noises everywhere and the engine roared under the heavy load.

The car merged into the main road. He hesitated for a moment and did not run to the west where the wooden house was. Instead, he turned north at the next intersection.

Hawke infers from the current situation that the so-called physical examination and donation agreement for the crew hides sinister intentions.

The mastermind behind this must be very financially strong, as he can mobilize the cooperation of the crew starring Robert Downey Jr. and Katie Holmes.

It wasn't difficult to send someone to the cabin to wait for the enemy. Provo was a small town, and the pickup truck quickly rushed out of the city.

There are many mountains here, and the roads are winding. The snow is getting heavier, and both sides of the road are already covered with white.

After turning a big bend and entering a straight road, the pickup truck's oil light came on without knowing when. David had reminded Hawke this morning that it was time to refuel on the way back.

He looked at the oil lamp, glanced at the rearview mirror, and turned to look at the rear window.

Just at the end of the sight, a black car appeared.

Hawke thought of the worst. Five men in suits in the car? Five guns?

If this really happens, I run out of gas on the highway, and the other party catches up with me, and it's one against five?

A fork in the road leading into the mountains appeared ahead, and Hawke turned in without hesitation.

He kept looking around and found that there were many rocks on the mountain, making it easy to hide.

The pickup truck turned two corners in a row, and Hawke used the hill as a cover to park the car on the side of the road.

He opened the armrest box and the passenger compartment, rummaged through them quickly, found a cotton hat, gloves and a bundle of ropes, grabbed them, jumped out of the car, and ran towards the rocky hillside, putting on his hat and gloves and taking out his pistol.

The snow is getting heavier and heavier, and it is likely to be a heavy snowfall.

Hawke climbed over some small stones, glanced back at the footprints on the ground, and when he turned back again, he had chosen a place.

On the hillside in the front left, there are many irregular boulders.

Hawke selected a suitable one and climbed up using his hands and feet. He moved an oval stone from the side and placed it there. Then he put on a black cotton hat on the upper part that was half the size of a football.

From below, it looked like someone was taking a short rest behind the boulder.

He tied the oval stone with a rope and threw the other end towards the ambush point.

Time is limited, so I can only do a simple disguise.

Hawke picked up his revolver, retreated behind a boulder, and leaped hard to the right, landing behind another rock.

Then he picked up the rope, leaped to the chosen ambush site, and hid on the side of a protruding rock.

Looking from a high place, the traces left on the snow are clearly visible.

At the foot of the mountain, all you can see is a long line of footprints.

In the heavy snow, a black sedan turned and stopped not far from the pickup truck.

Hawke checked his pistol and adjusted it to be ready to fire.

In the Mercedes-Benz, the black man sitting in the passenger seat pulled out a Glock and opened the door.

The white man in the back seat had a Glock in his left hand and a Taser in his right hand.

Freddy turned off the engine and pulled out a dagger from the armrest box.

Lao Hei glanced at him.

Freddy whispered, "My gun is in Los Angeles, and I don't have a Utah gun license."

There were clear footprints in the snow, and the white man tapped the front seat and pointed to the left side of the pickup truck.

The black man nodded, got out of the car and walked forward quickly with the gun in both hands.

The white man followed.

Freddy walked last.

The group first checked the pickup truck to make sure there was no one inside.

Freddy held the dagger in reverse and stared at the footprints: "He went up the mountain."

The black man looked at his phone: "No signal."

The white man said, “Let’s go after them and see.”

Freddy glanced at the guns in their hands and reminded them, "Catch them alive. Don't attack the torso. Their organs are useful."

The three followed the footprints and chased towards the hillside.
