Chapter 11: Ian's Doubts
Chapter 11: Ian's Doubts
Movies are just movies after all.
It is limited by special effects and lenses, and what it presents is ultimately just the tip of the iceberg of Diagon Alley.
When you really set foot here.
Ian realized that it was definitely not the county market that many people ridiculed, nor was it some backward and dilapidated relic of the old times. It was the most prosperous gathering place for wizards in the British Isles!
"It's really... a dream!"
Ian was very excited.
He did not feel the nausea and vomiting that he should have felt the first time he Apparated. He realized now that it must be the effect of Snape's nausea potion, which tasted much better than milk.
Unexpectedly, Snape could have such a careful side. This somewhat subverted Ian's perception of Snape's role, and also made him think of Dumbledore's words again.
What kind of debt is it?
What made Snape show such attentiveness to him that was out of character?
"Could it be that my parents in this life actually died as a result of his mission as a Death Eater?" Ian felt very confused and kept thinking in his mind.
And at this time.
"Follow."
Snape had released his hand that was pinching Ian's neck and walked forward quickly without looking back. Ian immediately followed behind him, dragging his huge suitcase.
People were coming and going on the street. Snape did not look back, but kept walking at a speed that allowed Ian to keep up with him and not get lost in the crowd.
"Professor, where are we going? The bank?"
Ian asked curiously.
"That's called Gringotts. Don't use your stupid Muggle ideas to figure out the rules of the wizarding world." Snape's tone was cold, but he still reminded Ian.
"Calm yourself. There are wizards here. They won't be lenient with you just because you are a child. Dark wizards may capture you at any time to do evil research." Snape threatened Ian sinisterly. Obviously, he was warning Ian not to use [Mind Perception] to provoke other wizards.
"I try my best……"
Ian tried to empty his mind, which indeed reduced the sensitivity of his extraordinary characteristic of [Thought Perception]. He really couldn't completely control this characteristic ability.
To divert attention.
Ian began to be curious about the magical creatures that lived with wizards.
Except for Fantastic Beasts.
Creatures from fantasy stories, such as giants and dwarves, almost all exist in the fantasy world that Ian now lives in. He is very curious about how ugly the real goblins are.
however.
Snape did not take him to Gringotts.
"Give me all the textbooks I need for my first year at Hogwarts." The first stop Snape took Ian to was Flourish and Blotts, a bookstore that sold all kinds of magic books. No one knew which pure-blood family was behind it, and it could be said that it had a monopoly on the textbook sales rights of the entire British wizarding world.
Just like the schools Ian had traveled through before, students would be instructed to go to certain bookstores to buy exercise books and books. Ian didn't believe that there would be no transfer of interests behind such similar situations.
"Okay, Professor Snape."
The clerk in the bookstore was obviously familiar with the teachers of Hogwarts. He was even a little timid when facing Snape, and it was not known whether he was a former Hogwarts graduate.
"I don't even know what textbooks I need? I haven't even received an acceptance letter from Hogwarts." Ian muttered to himself as he stood behind Snape.
"You care so much about a meaningless piece of paper?"
Snape was squinting again.
“I just felt like something was missing.”
Ian blinked.
"Oh, what a ridiculous persistence."
Snape sneered, reached into his pocket and took out a crumpled piece of paper, and threw it towards where Ian was standing as if it were some garbage.
Ian hurriedly reached out and caught it.
I saw.
In the most conspicuous position on the paper, a lion, an eagle, a badger and a snake formed a big letter "H". This was Ian's admission letter.
[Headmaster: Albus Dumbledore
(President of the International Confederation of Wizards, First Class of Merlin's Order, Grand Mage, Chief Mage of the Wizengamot
Dear Mr. Prince:
We are pleased to inform you that you have been admitted to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Attached is a list of required secretaries and equipment. The semester is scheduled to begin on September 1st. We will be waiting for your owl to bring your reply before July 31st.
Vice Principal (Female)
Sincerely, Minerva McGonagall.
……
There was a long appendix behind the notification information, which was mostly about some things that freshmen needed to buy. Ian quickly scanned it and got a general idea.
"Now, Mr. Nosy, are you satisfied?" Snape's voice was still long and drawn out, and he even gave Ian an annoying nickname.
"I thought I'd see the Hogwarts owls."
Ian curled his lips.
"Instead of focusing on useless vanity, you should think about how you can learn useful skills in school so as to avoid ending up with a miserable life like those Hufflepuffs."
When Snape said this, the clerk who was preparing books for Ian came over with a pile of books.
Judging from his somewhat indignant but dare-not-explode expression, Ian felt that Snape might be mocking the clerk while teaching him a lesson.
This guy really has a very bad character.
"Thank you."
Ian didn't want to be hated because of Snape, so he quickly thanked the clerk sincerely and took the thick pile of books in his hand.
"Don't believe what Snape said. Hufflepuff has produced many great wizards, such as Master Newt Scamander, the author of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them."
"It's an honor to be a Hufflepuff." The clerk squatted down and handed the book to Ian, and defended Hufflepuff in a very low voice.
"I think so."
Ian smiled and whispered back.
The clerk touched his head with relief.
"15 Galleons, thank you."
At this time, the front desk clerk of the bookstore spoke to Ian at the right time. Before Ian could respond, Snape took out a small purse and walked to the front desk to pay for the books.
"Is this a student loan, Professor?"
Ian actually still wanted to go to Gringotts to exchange money himself.
"That's not your concern."
Snape responded coldly.
He paid the money.
Seeing that Ian was struggling to stuff textbooks into the suitcase which already had little remaining space, he raised his hand and cast a spell on the clothes and sundries in Ian's storage box.
"Shrink quickly."
next moment.
As all the messy things shrank, Ian easily put the books into the box.
“This is amazing!”
Ian's expression was very excited.
"Let me kindly remind you that this magic will only last for 24 hours. If you don't take the item out after the time is up... Heh, you don't want to see a scene like that."
Snape finished.
He threw off his robe and walked out the door.
Ian hurried to follow.
It's true, with Snape's spell, the suitcase felt a lot lighter to drag. The magic was so magical that even Lavoisier couldn't hold down his coffin.
Mass is not conserved! ?
So unscientific!
I like!
Ian's desire to learn magic became stronger and stronger.
"Professor! Wait!"
Faced with Snape's quickened pace, Ian could only move his much shorter legs frantically.
then.
Ian was taken by Snape to buy other necessities, and he watched Snape taking out money to pay the bills the whole time.
even.
When purchasing the crucible for brewing potions, the clerk had already taken out the standard student admission set, but Snape asked the clerk to replace the crucible with a brass crucible.
More expensive.
Much more expensive than ordinary crucibles.
"Professor, the notice says that we need to buy a standard size No. 2 tin crucible." Ian said uncertainly, holding his notice.
Never thought about it.
However, Snape responded directly with a sarcastic tone when paying.
"It seems that Mr. Prince feels that he has learned all the knowledge and has begun to instruct me, the Potions professor, on what is the right choice?"
Full of venomous sarcasm.
This left Ian speechless.
If it weren't for the fact that Snape was always paying, he would have had the courage to retort to whatever he said - to be honest, Ian now felt more confused than before.
Could it be.
Did Snape really kill his biological parents when he was a Death Eater? If not, how could Snape treat him so unusually?
Puzzled!
