Chapter 593 Seeking Death
As for the comparison with the original storyline, Lin Bei certainly believed in his own abilities.
Lin Bei stroked his chin, braving the torrential rain, and flew towards the dark and gloomy woods in the distance.
The woods deep in the town of Derui are not large, and a small river flows swiftly through one of the woods. The river, which was originally knee-deep, has become turbulent after being irrigated by the torrential rain.
Lin Bei crossed the small river and immediately saw the dilapidated building standing quietly in the heavy rain.
The wooden exterior of the small building was mostly rotten, and it was covered with black thorns. The entire building exuded a sinister and terrifying aura after being washed by heavy rain.
Lin Bei remained calm and bent down to enter the small building.
Don't be fooled by the small exterior of the building; inside lies a hidden world with a complex network of passageways and countless doors. There are more than a dozen identical staircases leading upstairs and downstairs.
This is clearly a trick by Pennywise, using the exact same scene to lure people who have strayed into the building, and then gradually luring them to the basement.
In the basement, there is the well that leads to Pennywise's lair.
Lin Bei was too lazy to wander around this maze-like building with Pennywise. As soon as he entered the building, he looked around and raised his hand to use the power of the Shadow Monarch. The black liquid instantly gushed out and opened a path in the wall.
Swallowed by the black liquid, Lin Bei walked straight forward until he reached the place where the power fluctuations were strongest, at which point he stopped.
With a wave of his hand, the black liquid swallowed the decaying wooden floor, creating a hole. Lin Bei took a step forward and fell in.
After landing lightly, Lin Bei smelled a strong stench of decay and fish in the air. The environment in the basement was also unusual, resembling a natural cave, with sticky liquid crawling on the walls all around, the nature of which was unknown.
Lin Bei had no interest in anything around him. He went straight to the dark well and peered down into it.
A chilling wind blew up from the well, sending a shiver down one's spine. Lin Bei remained calm, and seeing that it was pitch black below and he could see nothing, he leaped down.
Just as Lin Bei jumped into the well, a faint, playful laugh came from the bottom of the well.
Lin Bei frowned slightly; he could recognize the voice of the Joker, Pennywise.
He seemed quite pleased with himself.
Are you proud of yourself for finding me?
Lin Bei narrowed his eyes, landed lightly, and looked around calmly.
No matter what Pennywise's intentions were, they were like an ant trying to shake a tree in the face of absolute power.
The underground space was spacious, but it wasn't much better.
The dark rocks were covered in sticky liquid. Apart from the tunnel leading into the distance, the only other thing was a stream of water that didn't even cover the soles of Lin Bei's shoes.
However, the water was red.
Lin Bei stared at the red water at his feet for a while, then, with a normal expression, lifted his foot and walked into the dark tunnel ahead.
After entering the bottom of the well, there was no more noise around.
All that could be heard was the faint sound of flowing water and the echoing footsteps on the surrounding stone walls.
If an ordinary person accidentally wandered into this place, they would probably be trembling with fear by now, their psychological defenses almost collapsing.
Lin Bei continued forward until a huge stone cave appeared in front of the narrow tunnel, at which point he stopped.
The cave is filled with jagged, protruding rocks. At first glance, there's nothing particularly special about it. If you had to point out anything, it's that the ceiling above the cave has been hollowed out, allowing rainwater to trickle down.
And the thick stench of blood in the air.
Lin Bei was somewhat disgusted and said coldly, "Are you bringing people back here to eat? Your perverse tastes are truly disgusting, Pennywise."
Lin Bei's voice echoed in the cave, but received no response.
A hint of disdain flashed in Lin Bei's eyes. He turned to the side and looked towards the jagged boulder on his right. He said indifferently, "What's there to hide for? You just want to lure me to your lair, right? Hurry up and come out, or I'll take action. I have an appointment to deal with you before dawn."
After I finished speaking, there was still no response.
Lin Bei sighed helplessly and was about to blow up the stone cave when a rustling sound suddenly came from behind the jagged rocks.
Lin Bei raised an eyebrow, thinking that Pennywise was going to fight to the death, but unexpectedly, the next second, countless bright red balloons suddenly rose from behind the jagged boulder.
Countless red balloons floated and swayed from behind the jagged rocks, filling most of the cave in just a few seconds.
The balloons were crowded together, making a screeching sound as they rubbed against each other. As the number of red balloons increased, it seemed as if the balloons in the air above the cave were about to burst.
Lin Bei frowned as he watched this scene.
"Hmph, a mere trick. You only know how to use this one move to fool people. Pennywise, you haven't moved behind me yet, are you planning to ambush me?"
Lin Bei coldly exposed Pennywise's lame trick, which made Pennywise, who was quietly lurking behind the jagged boulder behind Lin Bei, freeze.
what happened?
His disguise and concealment were top-notch, so why did this human discover him so quickly?
Or was he just bluffing?
Pennywise, his face grim, squinted and slowly peeked out from behind the jagged rocks, staring menacingly at Lin Bei's back.
He wanted to see if the guy had really found out or was just bluffing.
But this seemingly insignificant action left Pennywise feeling extremely annoyed the very next second.
Because Lin Bei slowly turned to the side, his gaze landing precisely on him.
"Damn it!"
Enraged, Pennywise cursed and prepared to retreat and hide again before attacking Lin Bei.
Unfortunately, Lin Bei wouldn't give him that chance.
Seeing that Pennywise was about to retreat into the darkness again, Lin Bei sneered and snapped his fingers.
The black liquid had been lurking in the darkness. As soon as Lin Bei activated the power of the Shadow Monarch, the black liquid instantly surged towards Pennywise, binding him tightly.
Pennywise was stunned for a moment, then realized what was happening, glared angrily at Lin Bei, and struggled desperately.
The more he struggled, the tighter the black liquid tightened, until Pennywise let out a piercing scream of pain: "Enough! Enough! Stop! What are you? No human can have power greater than mine. I am the immortal Pennywise. From ancient times to the present, no human has ever been able to kill me!"
Lin Bei calmly watched Pennywise's ugly display and coldly snorted, "Is that so? Then I don't mind being the first to kill you." Upon hearing this, Pennywise's face contorted with rage. His already ugly features became even more ferocious as he glared at Lin Bei below, wishing he could strangle him.
But Pennywise was controlled by Lin Bei and couldn't even do the simplest move of concealing his figure, let alone anything else.
Pennywise's features were contorted so much that they almost disappeared from their original positions. His angry and pathetic roars echoed in the cave. The red balloons in mid-air finally couldn't withstand the pressure and burst one after another.
The sound of balloons exploding echoed continuously in the cave, almost drowning out Pennywise's voice.
Lin Bei found it too noisy, sighed helplessly, and directly activated the Word of Power "Decomposition".
As Lin Bei finished speaking, Pennywise, who had been struggling, suddenly fell silent.
His face was stiff as he stared intently at Lin Bei, his body involuntarily trembling slightly.
Again.
It’s this feeling again!
He once again sensed the fear of death emanating from Lin Bei!
But why!
He, Pennywise, is an immortal being!
Humans can only seal him away, not kill him. As long as humans harbor fear, he will exist forever and remain powerful forever!
But what's wrong with this human?
Pennywise couldn't sense any fear or emotion from him. How could that be?
Human fears nourish Pennywise, which is why he has lingered in the town of Derry for centuries, appearing every twenty-seven years to harvest the fear in people's hearts and then abduct a few children as snacks. He has always done this.
No human being has ever escaped the fear he created.
But now, Pennywise has encountered a human who is not afraid of him at all.
Not only were they not afraid, they even took the initiative to come to us.
It even instilled fear in Pennywise.
Pennywise refused to accept this fact; he wanted to change his form and absorb fear to enhance his power.
But he couldn't do it.
This is his lair; there is no fear of humans here.
Pennywise watched as Lin Bei unleashed a mysterious power. This invisible force, centered on Lin Bei, was extremely powerful and domineering, surging outwards in all directions.
Pennywise's face gradually turned pale, and for the first time, despair appeared on his face. He knew that this time, he was going to die.
Just as this thought crossed Pennywise's mind, that powerful, terrifying, invisible force arrived before him.
Pennywise was caught completely off guard when an invisible force swept over his entire body.
Pennywise froze, and when the invisible force struck the cave wall, causing the cave to sway and begin to crumble into countless neat little cubes that fell to the ground, Pennywise also turned into a little cube and crashed to the ground.
Lin Bei looked at the small square pile formed by Pennywise, staring at the half of a lifeless eye at the top, and shook his head in disdain: "I thought it was so powerful, but it still couldn't escape my attack."
As he spoke, Lin Bei stepped forward and kicked the pile of small cubes in Pennywise's eyes. Half an eye rolled to the side, and Lin Bei stepped on it. The small cube turned into powder and disappeared in the wind.
Rumor has it that the Joker is immortal.
Even if you kill him, he will resurrect and continue to haunt you.
But in front of Lin Bei, all rumors of immortality were nonsense.
Faced with absolute power, if the enemy doesn't die, then crush them into powder. He wants to see how long it will take to recombine the powder into its final form.
After Lin Bei crushed Pennywise's small cube, the entire cave seemed on the verge of collapse.
Lin Bei looked up at the hole carved out of the top of the cave, then leaped out and flew away easily.
The moment Lin Bei left the cave, a muffled hum came from the earth, and heavy rain reappeared in his sight. Lin Bei hovered high in the air and looked down, only to find that below was actually that forest.
There was a large depression in the center of the woods, which seemed to be the location of the cave.
Lin Bei glanced at the woods and noticed that the shadows that had lingered over the area had dissipated. He nodded in satisfaction and flew towards Catherine's house.
By the time Lin Bei arrived above Catherine's house, it was already five in the morning.
Only an hour has passed since he went to find Pennywise.
When Lin Bei was about to land, he was surprised to find that there were a lot of people gathered outside Catherine's house.
As Catherine loudly told the townspeople to be quiet, Constantine, looking impatient, crossed his arms and shouted, "Didn't I tell you to stay home? What are you doing here looking for Catherine? No one can go into her house anymore!"
Unexpectedly, the townspeople ignored them completely, glaring angrily at Catherine: "Why are you telling us to stay home? Have you found any clues about the kidnappers? If you have, tell us quickly so we can catch them together. We don't know what's going on with the missing children. We watched them grow up, we can't just do nothing. Catherine, tell us everything you know!"
Catherine looked helpless. She understood the townspeople's agitation. After all, the police had investigated for so long but still hadn't figured out how the child went missing. It was understandable that the townspeople had complaints.
She didn't want to tell the townspeople about the fighting, but Billy accidentally let it slip, and the word spread like wildfire. Soon, the townspeople occupied Catherine's house, demanding an explanation from her.
As the situation was spiraling out of control, Catherine considered calling for reinforcements when a sudden scream erupted from the crowd in the courtyard.
Catherine and Constantine looked over at the same time and saw black liquid falling with the raindrops in the torrential rain, forcibly pushing the crowd blocking the doorway to both sides until a path was cleared. Then, Lin Bei gracefully landed amidst the astonished gazes of countless townspeople.
Upon seeing Lin Bei, Catherine and Constantine both breathed a sigh of relief.
Constantine spoke before Catherine could: "Is everything settled? These people are on edge. Explain your situation, or they might attack Catherine."
Lin Bei calmly approached Constantine and Catherine, glanced at the puzzled and astonished townspeople, and said indifferently, "There's nothing to explain. The guy who kidnapped your children has been killed by me. If you don't believe me, go and check the woods behind town. There might still be some evidence left. As for your children, they were eaten by that guy on the day they were kidnapped. My condolences."
While offering words of condolence, Lin Bei's tone was so calm it was almost cold. The townspeople quickly came to their senses, and some, unwilling to accept the truth, pointed at Lin Bei and loudly questioned, "Who are you? You're an outsider who doesn't know anything about Derui Town and yet you're spouting nonsense. I think you're the most suspicious one. You're not one of the kidnappers, are you?"
Lin Bei paused as he walked into the house. Constantine's heart skipped a beat when he saw this, thinking, "Oh no, Lin Bei is angry."
The next second, Lin Bei turned to the side and waved his hand, and black liquid surged up, entangling the tall, strong man who had been spouting nonsense and lifting him into the air.
Amidst the screams of countless people below, the tall, muscular man's face suddenly turned deathly pale, and he flailed his limbs. (End of Chapter)
