Angela didn't understand what Constantine meant.

Balthazar flew away at an extremely fast speed, and now he can no longer be seen. The demon has successfully escaped, so how could the one that came from there escape?
Just as Angela frowned in confusion, Lin Bei leaped up and flew into the air.

This scene was beyond Angela's comprehension; how could a human possibly fly!

She screamed in fright, instinctively grabbing Constantine's arm and pointing at the night sky, stammering, "What...what's going on? Isn't Mr. Lin Bei your companion? He...isn't he human? Why can he fly!"

Constantine, with one hand in his pocket, slowly exhaled a puff of white smoke and said impatiently, "Yes, he is my companion and a human. Who says that someone who is my companion and a human cannot fly? Please, just watch quietly. Lin Bei is different from others. I may not be able to keep my promises, but he will definitely keep his promises."

Not long after Constantine finished speaking, the sound of wind breaking through the night sky came from behind.

The angels and demons who hadn't left yet all looked up and saw Lin Bei, who had returned, descending from the sky carrying something.

No, it's not a thing, it's a demon.

As soon as Lin Bei landed, he threw the half-dead Balsaza on the ground, clapped his hands, and glanced coldly at Balsaza: "I already said I'd only ask you a few questions, why are you running? If you don't cooperate, there's no need to keep you alive."

Balsaza hadn't recovered from the shock he'd just experienced. He didn't really know what had happened; all he knew was that after successfully escaping, before he could even feel happy, Lin Bei suddenly appeared in front of him and grabbed him back.

Why can humans fly?

This shouldn't be the case.

Balsaza collapsed to the ground in a disheveled state, panting heavily, staring at Lin Bei in disbelief, unable to see through this man at all.

Is he a mixed-race person like me?
But Balthazar couldn't sense even the slightest hint of demon or angel from Lin Bei.

The more Balsazar investigated, the more terrified he became.

Who exactly is this human being? It can't possibly be God himself, nor can it possibly be Satan himself...

But if it weren't for these two, how could this human possess such immense power? Not to mention flying and escaping, how did he catch up with me in such a short time and bring me back?

Balsaza couldn't understand it, and dared not think about it any further.

Cold sweat crept up his back. Balthazar swallowed hard, about to say something to beg for mercy, when Lin Bei shook his head helplessly, rubbing his forehead: "Forget it, forget it. I know your partner is that angel. Even if my arrival caused some deviation, there are only a few archangels. If we search them one by one, we'll eventually find him."

Judging from Lin Bei's tone, he clearly knew which angel was cooperating with the devil.

Balthazar looked horrified; he even knew who the specific angels were.
Unfortunately, Balsazar could no longer voice his doubts, because Lin Bei pointed at Balsazar and uttered a single sentence.

"Avada Kedavra".

With a faint crackling sound, a ghastly green light appeared out of thin air. The light twisted a few times in the darkness, then transformed into a long, ghastly green snake, flicking its tongue as it entered Balsazar's body.

Balsaza wanted to run away, but for some reason, he didn't even have the strength to crawl in front of Lin Bei.

Balthazar could only watch helplessly as the strange, ghastly green light entered his body. He then let out a muffled groan, his eyes widened, and he collapsed to the ground, lifeless.

Seeing this, Constantine silently took a puff of his cigarette and said impatiently, "Didn't I tell you to let me handle this? But when did this guy become so weak? At least he could escape when he was testing you before."

Lin Bei shrugged and said casually, "Maybe I've improved very quickly."

Compared to Constantine and Lin Bei's composure, Angela was completely unsettled.

She stared blankly at the dead Balthazar before her, then watched as the once human-like corpse gradually transformed into a horrifying form. Terrified, she took two steps back, covering her mouth in horror: "This... I've seen it before, I've seen it in my dreams. It was him, he kidnapped my sister, I saw it..."

Angela recalled the nightmares that had haunted her, the nightmares in which her sister cried helplessly and reached out to her. Every time she tried to grab her sister, an ugly demon would emerge from behind her sister, kidnap her, and disappear into the darkness.

Angela almost cried, but she managed to hold it in.

Lin Bei and Constantine exchanged a glance: "We're on the right track. It seems he was the one who did it."

Constantine took out another cigarette and lit it: "So, you've got a clue about the angel you mentioned who's allied with the devil? Or did you know who it was from the beginning, and you just captured Balthazar to confirm your guess?"

Lin Bei nodded slightly: "Yes, but judging from Balsazar's appearance and Angela's words, it's pretty much a done deal that it's Gabriel."

“Gabriel?” Constantine paused in his smoking, a look of surprise on his face for the first time. “You’re not wrong, are you? That guy sees demons as inferior beings. Would she really be willing to cooperate with demons?”

As a detective who walks between the human world and hell, Constantine has naturally had many dealings with angels on earth.

Among those with whom they had relatively frequent interactions was Gabriel.

As one of the archangels, Gabriel's status is naturally different from that of the other angels. She is elegant, beautiful, and powerful, and is God's most beloved archangel.

Gabriel in this world is a woman. She has the ability to inspire submission in people with just a glance. Even while wandering among humans, she remains clear-headed and steadfast in her love for God.

Now Lin Bei is telling Constantine that Gabriel has cooperated with the devil?

This shocked Constantine even more than the news that angels and demons were cooperating.

Constantine believed that if God himself were to cooperate with Satan, Gabriel would never cooperate with the devil.

Constantine stared at Lin Bei with a puzzled look, trying to discern a hint of a joke on his face.

The two had worked together before and often joked around, but seeing Lin Bei's expression now, Constantine gradually gave up the idea.

What Lin Bei said is true.

Constantine smoked silently. He moved closer to Lin Bei and questioned in a low voice, "Where did you get this information? We haven't separated since we arrived in this city, have we? Did you go and buy information behind my back?"

“Constantine, use your rusty brain. You think you can find out this kind of information?” Lin Bei raised his eyelids and looked at Constantine indifferently. “Never mind where I got my information. I’m just asking you, when has my information ever gone wrong? The reason I agreed to come to the Midnight Club with you this time was to ask about capturing Balsazar. I knew he would be at the Midnight Club today. The only uncertainty in my information is Balsazar’s reaction just now. Now, what else do you want to ask?” Constantine was speechless after Lin Bei’s words.

It really is.

Before meeting Lin Bei, he had difficulty distinguishing between true and false information and suffered a lot as a result.

But ever since I met Lin Bei, any information provided by Lin Bei has never been wrong.

Constantine paused for a moment, then nodded: "Then...where do we look for Gabriel? She should already know we've figured it out, right?"

Lin Bei nodded slightly: "She noticed as soon as Balthazar died. She doesn't trust demons, so she put something on one of them. But given her arrogance, she won't plot against us. She'll be waiting for us there."

“That place?” Constantine exhaled a wisp of white smoke. “What place? Is it Gabriel’s favorite place? If I remember correctly, she really likes to be in the church in the city center.”

As Constantine spoke, Lin Bei had already started to leave. After taking a few steps, he glanced at Constantine and Angela and said, "Of course it's the church. What are you waiting for? Please, Constantine, smoke less. Your poor lungs are almost rotten."

Constantine reluctantly raised his hands in surrender, threw the half-smoked cigarette on the ground, stomped it out, and strode after him.

Angela was a little out of sync with the two of them. She still didn't understand what it meant for Gabriel to cooperate with the devil. As a believer, she couldn't and dared not accept this fact, so her brain automatically blocked out the danger behind the words.

Angela followed the two men, bewildered, all the way to the church in the city center.

When the three arrived outside the church, the first rays of dawn were shining on the top of the church.

The church in the city center is large and magnificent, with its towering spire reaching into the sky. Its smooth, white stone surface reflects the morning light in colorful rays, enveloping the church in a sacred glow.

At this time, some believers had already come to the church to pray.

Although there weren't many people, Lin Bei and Constantine still attracted the attention of the surrounding believers when they entered the church with the parishioners.

There was nothing that could be done; these two people, judging from their demeanor, expressions, and actions, showed absolutely no reverence or love for God.

They seemed like tourists visiting the area, or rather, even that was a stretch. There was no curiosity on their faces; instead, they looked indifferent and slightly impatient. To put it bluntly, they seemed like they were there to cause trouble.

The church will not refuse anyone who enters.

Even though the believers didn't like them, they didn't stop them from entering the church.

After Lin Bei and his companion stepped into the church, Lin Bei glanced around and raised an eyebrow slightly.

No wonder Gabriel likes to stay here.

The church is magnificent and sacred, with deep red velvet carpets on the floor and red solid wood chairs. The stained glass windows on the walls let sunlight into the room, and the colorful light reflects onto the great sculpture at the front, giving the sculpture's features a holy glow.

Lin Bei stood at the entrance and observed his surroundings for a while, finally fixing his gaze on the woman at the very front who was chatting amiably with the believers.

She was a woman with fair skin and short, light blonde hair. She was wearing a white suit and exuded an aura of inviolable holiness from head to toe. The worshippers seemed to enjoy being close to her, and after finishing their prayers, they all lined up to say a few words to her.

Even Angela, who was standing to the side, was stunned. She subconsciously made the sign of the cross and exclaimed, "My God, who is she? Is she a nun here? She is so beautiful... I really want to talk to her. Maybe it will lessen the sins in my heart."

Hearing Angela's unconscious remark, Lin Bei chuckled and turned to Constantine, who was frowning, saying, "Hey Constantine, see that? This is what angels are like. They have an aura that attracts humans. Who knows if they're white or black under that sacred exterior?"

Constantine rubbed his temples, feeling somewhat uncomfortable here: "Damn it, let's get this over with quickly, Lin Bei. Oh, damn it, I really don't like places like churches, I feel like throwing up."

Lin Bei knew that Constantine's reaction stemmed from the pact he had made with Satan. He was originally supposed to go to hell, but he made a bet with Satan and was sent back to earth. The bet was that if Constantine died again, his soul would belong to Satan.

Lin Bei ignored Constantine and slowly walked to the very end of the line of believers, patiently waiting in line.

Seeing Lin Bei's actions, Constantine frowned even more. He cursed and took out a cigarette, walked to the last row of chairs, sat down, put his feet on the back of the seat in front of him, and started smoking without a care in the world.

Angela didn't dare to run around and obediently sat down next to Constantine.

The smell of smoke quickly spread, and the worshippers in line ahead turned around and saw this, all of them somewhat dissatisfied.

Some believers recognized that Lin Bei and Constantine were in cahoots and whispered a reminder: "Sir, your companion seems to be behaving rudely. Please remind him that God will not favor him for such behavior."

Lin Bei didn't move, only lazily saying, "I believe God will understand him. After all, he had terminal lung cancer and wanted to do some things he liked before he died. How could God blame him?"

Lin Bei was right. In this world, Constantine did indeed have late-stage lung cancer due to smoking. However, at the end of the movie, in order to prevent Constantine from going to heaven, Satan personally cured him.

The believer hadn't expected such a statement. His face stiffened, and he wanted to say something, but seeing Constantine's pale, listless, and lethargic appearance, he swallowed the rest of his words.

Lin Bei didn't try to keep his voice down. Everyone in the church knew that the man who was smoking was about to die, and all the complaints they had felt earlier vanished.

Soon, it was Lin Bei's turn to speak.

Lin Bei slowly walked up to the woman who, at first glance, was not beautiful, but had an exceptionally elegant demeanor and stood in front of her.

The other person gave Lin Bei a gentle and kind smile: "What do you want to talk to me about? Perhaps I can't solve your problem, but it's always better to say it than to keep it to yourself."

Lin Bei, with one hand in his pocket, looked at this angel who could captivate humans with just a smile, and spoke calmly.

“Gabriel, since we’re meeting for the first time, I do want to talk to you about something, such as your plan with the devil. I think that plan has already been cut short.”

Gabriel's smile faded, and she glanced at Lin Bei indifferently: "Oh, so you're the one who killed Balthazar. A human, actually managing to kill a hybrid demon, you've got some skills."

Lin Bei shrugged: "So, you mean you have a backup plan?" (End of Chapter)
