Chapter 403 What if there is one more person?
After saying this, Xu Ling turned his head away and pretended nothing had happened.

She reached out to catch the kitten that jumped off Xu Wen.

Unfortunately, as soon as she approached, the two kittens jumped away.

When Xu Wen saw his sister's state, he immediately realized whether she had reached some kind of deal with Yang Yiyao, or she just wanted to watch the fun.

He shook his head helplessly and took the initiative to follow Yang Yiyao into the divination room.

When he first entered college, Xu Wen was a little resistant to this overly proactive senior.

But now it’s a little different. He is not opposed to chatting with Yang Yiyao.

He doesn't need to hide anything here.

This psychiatrist-like fortuneteller holds most of his secrets.

He can feel a rare sense of relaxation here.

Seeing Xu Wen taking the initiative to walk forward, Yang Yiyao followed him.

After entering the divination room, she did not forget to close the door.

This door has good sound insulation, and the room became quiet immediately after it was closed.

Xu Wen felt as if he had not felt such a long period of tranquility for a long time.

He sat down on the familiar sofa chair, feeling so comfortable that he seemed to sink into it.

The crystal chandelier is right above the Black Cat Tarot Divination Room.

A warm yellow light illuminates the room.

Xu Wen closed his eyes gently, but the light could still penetrate his eyelids, revealing a faint warm light in his field of vision.

I don’t know if it was Xiaobai or Xiaoxiaobai, but he sneaked in the moment the two of them opened the door.

After Xu Wen sat down, she jumped directly into his arms and stayed there motionless.

I don’t know how the kitten locked outside the door is doing now. Is it scratching the door and meowing?

His fingers gently stroked the small black cat curled up in his lap.

The cat's fur looked even darker under the light, rising and falling slightly with its breathing.

"Master Yang wants to give me psychological treatment again?" Xu Wen joked with a smile.

Compared to a fortune teller, Yang Yiyao is now more like his psychologist.

Come and have a look whenever something happens.

"It seems that your balance theory is now showing initial results. I thought you just made it up at first." Yang Yiyao suddenly spoke.

As she spoke, she lit the incense in front of her and a wisp of smoke gradually rose.

A faint fragrance permeates the room.

Xu Wen's fingers paused behind the little black cat's ear.

The cat meowed in dissatisfaction and scratched at his sleeves with its claws.

"It's not that simple." He spoke softly, as if he was talking to himself.

One kitten was in his arms and the other was outside the door.

There are bound to be differences when treating cats, let alone humans?
Keeping the balance is not an easy task.

Yang Yiyao leaned forward and rested her elbows on the table.

"You know what's the funniest thing? They're all acting, and they all know the other person is acting." She lowered her voice, with a hint of sweetness in her tone.

Xu Wen opened his eyes.

If he was not mistaken, the one in his arms now should be Xiaobai instead of Xiaoxiaobai.

"You said this at the book signing event," he complained.

After he finished speaking, he stood up from his chair, picked up the cat in his arms and walked to the door, ready to open the door and let the cat out.
As soon as the door opened, exclamations were heard from outside.

Xu Ling was standing at the door, as if she didn't expect anyone to open it.

There was a hint of panic in her eyes, but she quickly came to her senses and started walking around pretending to be taking a walk.

The wings on the skirt fluttered.

The corners of Xu Wen's mouth rose slightly. His sister was always overly curious.

In addition to Xu Ling, there was also a little black cat at the door.

However, she did not meow and scratch the door as Xu Wen thought.

She just waited quietly.

Only after seeing Xu Wen carrying her sister out did she call out twice.

He placed the two cats together at the door, and returned to the divination room and closed the door.

"You said they were like two masters playing chess. They continued even though they knew it was a dead end, just because I was the stakes." Xu Wen repeated what Yang Yiyao said at the book signing event.

Yang Yiyao's fingertips drew circles on the table, leaving an almost invisible mark.

When she finished speaking, she suddenly laughed: "You still remember it clearly, you are worthy of being the top scorer in the exam."

When Xu Wen was walking back, his eyes were suddenly illuminated by the light of the crystal ball.

The crystal ball reflected the dazzling light in the center of the table.

He thought of the rose specimen soaked in formalin at the book signing, the shadow cast by Xia Ning's eyelashes when she signed, and Gu Xingruo's slightly trembling fingertips when she handed him the water.

The two girls performed perfectly in public, but had their own thoughts in private.

"My idea is great, but it's a bit difficult to actually realize it. It's not as simple as I thought," Xu Wen finally said.

It's easy to fool those customers because there is no real emotion involved, it's just business.

But it's not easy to balance two people who love him so much.

After he finished speaking, there was a muffled "bang" from outside the door, followed by Xu Ling's cry of pain.

They both looked towards the source of the sound at the same time, then turned back in tacit understanding.

A hint of understanding flashed across Yang Yiyao's eyes. It was obvious that she had known that Xu Ling was still eavesdropping.

"If you can't achieve it, then no one can." There was a hint of expectation in Yang Yiyao's eyes.

Her gaze lingered on Xu Wen's face for a long time, as if she wanted to read every subtle change in his expression.

Xu Wen chuckled, picked up the divination props on the table and began to play with them.

"You think too highly of me," he sighed.

He recalled Lan Qiusheng's hesitant expression when he delivered the documents, and Gu Xingruo's expression when she mentioned the "signature book".

Everyone plays their part in the balance he carefully maintains.

This balance looks bright and beautiful on the surface, but only he knows that it will be broken at the slightest touch.

Yang Yiyao suddenly took out a deck of tarot cards from the drawer and shuffled the cards skillfully.

The cards flew between her fingers, making crisp sounds.

"Since two are fine, how about adding another one? It's more fun with more people." She drew out a card and put it on the table, her red lips curled up in a dangerous arc.

Yang Yiyao also wanted to confess her feelings to Xu Wen and tell him that she liked him.

But she knew that this was unlikely and did not fit their current situation.

Saying it as a joke will not put pressure on either party.

Maybe this is the best relationship between the two of them.

But Yang Yiyao always wanted to go further.

Xu Wen watched her skillful movements and recalled the first time he came to Black Cat Tarot.

At that time, he had just been together with Xia Ning for a short time.

Yang Yiyao directly predicted the relationship and ending between him and Xia Ning, and even matched it with the time before his rebirth.

I have to say it’s quite accurate.

If only he had thought more about it then.

"The Reversed High Priestess." Xu Wen glanced at the card.

He sighed inaudibly: "We are both very tired."

There was a sound of fabric rubbing against each other outside the door. Xu Ling seemed to have changed her eavesdropping posture, and her skirt rubbed against something.

Yang Yiyao suddenly raised her voice: "Little genius, if you eavesdrop again, I will tell your brother that you lent your homework to others to copy at school!"

"I didn't!" Xu Ling immediately pushed the door open, her cheeks flushed.

The ponytail she had tied today swayed with her movements, and the bow on the hem of her Lolita skirt trembled.

"I came here to ask if you want to have a midnight snack!" Her eyes moved between her brother and Yang Yiyao, and she was obviously curious about the scene of them being alone together.

Yang Yiyao burst into laughter. She opened the incense box and cleared out the ashes left from the recent burning.

In the smoke, her gaze lingered on Xu Wen's face for a moment.

"Seriously, about the cake today." She suddenly became serious and spoke in a low voice.

Xu Wen stood up, and Xiaobai and Xiaoxiaobai immediately jumped to his feet and rubbed his calves affectionately.

"Lingling, it's time to go home." He interrupted, his voice gentle but unquestionable.

Xu Ling pouted, but still obediently walked to the cloakroom to change clothes.

He didn't want to discuss these complicated relationships in front of his sister.

"Avoiding won't solve the problem." Yang Yiyao said behind him.

Xu Wen stopped at the door.

Through the crack in the door, he saw Xu Ling clumsily untying the ribbon on her back, muttering something under her breath.

"I'm not running away, it's just that there are some things." He said without turning his head, with a hint of fatigue in his voice.

There was a "hissing" sound coming from the cloakroom, and Xu Ling seemed to have torn something.

"Brother! My skirt is caught!" she cried.

After hearing this, Yang Yiyao quickly walked towards the cloakroom.

"Let me help you, little idiot."

As she passed by Xu Wen, she said in a voice that only the two of them could hear: "They are enjoying it, aren't they?"

Xu Wen looked out the window.

The street lights in the night were refracted through the windows and made the whole city look blurry, just like the flash lights pointed at Xia Ning at the book signing event.

He remembered the slightly forceful fingertips of Gu Xingruo when she held his arm, the almost demonstrative possessiveness.

Even though Xia Ning maintained a perfect smile in public, deep in her eyes there was an obsession that only he could understand.

"Sometimes, having fun is the most dangerous thing." He said softly, his voice almost drowned out by the noise of playfulness in the cloakroom.

Xu Ling's scream and Yang Yiyao's smirk were heard from the cloakroom.

Xiaobai and Xiaoxiaobai rubbed Xu Wen's trouser legs with their tails raised high.

When Xu Ling finally changed back into her own clothes and came out, she found her brother staring at a certain point in the corner of the divination room.

There was an oil painting hanging there, showing three entangled figures, each holding a cup in their hands.

Xu Wen remembered that this card seemed to be called the Three of Cups.

"Brother? Are you okay?" Xu Ling tugged at his sleeve, with worry in her eyes.

Xu Wen withdrew his gaze and ruffled his sister's hair.

Her hair was soft and smelled of shampoo.

"It's okay, let's go home." Xu Wen replied calmly.

Yang Yiyao leaned against the door frame, playing with the tarot cards in her hand.

"Bring Lingling to play next time. I see she seems to like the clothes I make very much. I'll order her a dress in her suitable size." She said with a smile.

After hearing this, Xu Ling nodded immediately: "Okay, okay."

She didn't seem to hate Yang Yiyao as much now.

Xu Wen took a look at his sister and knew that the little girl had been won over by the sugar-coated bullet again.

"Let's go." Xu Wen took his sister's arm and walked towards the door.

The two little black cats followed for a few steps and stopped at the threshold. Their golden eyes sparkled in the dark, as if they had seen through some secret.

As the night breeze blew across his cheek, Xu Ling suddenly asked in a low voice: "Brother, can Sister Ruoruo and Sister Ningning really live in peace?"

Xu Wen did not answer immediately.

Today's book signing event may seem calm, but in fact, this calmness is only on the surface.

The three entangled shadows in the parking lot were like an unsolvable knot in the moonlight.

"Yes." Xu Wen said softly.

This sentence sounds like a promise, but also like self-comfort.

Xu Ling said nothing more.

She knew that no matter how much she said, it would be useless, and her brother had to deal with this matter himself.

She usually talks a lot, but at this moment she chose to remain silent.

The street lights stretched the shadows of the two people very long, and they gradually disappeared at the end of the street.

The Black Cat Tarot sign flickered behind him, and the eyes of the cartoon black cat seemed to be staring at something in the darkness.

In the fortune-telling room, Yang Yiyao turned over the upside-down tarot card on the table.

The reversed High Priestess looks particularly seductive in the candlelight.

She flicked the card and laughed.

"Why do I have to push myself?" she said to the empty room.

The sound gradually dissipated in the incense.

Walking out of the door of Black Cat Tarot, the cool breeze of the autumn night made Xu Ling unconsciously lean towards her brother.

Xu Wen noticed his sister's little action, and calmly took off his coat and put it on her shoulders.

"Brother, I'm not cold." Xu Ling said this, but wrapped his coat tighter.

Xu Wen looked at his sister's slightly pale face under the street light and frowned slightly: "Don't wear so little when going out next time."

"I know!" Xu Ling stuck out her tongue.

The two walked to the car in silence, and no one said a word.

Before getting in the car, Xu Ling tugged at her brother's sleeve: "Brother? What are you thinking about?"

"Nothing, I was just thinking that sometimes superficial peace requires more skills than direct conflict." Xu Wen withdrew his thoughts.

Xu Ling was about to say something when he saw the familiar red sports car not far away.

She suddenly pointed forward: "Brother, isn't that Sister Ruoruo's car?"

Xu Wen looked in the direction she pointed, and sure enough, he saw Gu Xingruo's eye-catching red sports car parked on the side of the road.

The car window rolled down, revealing Gu Xingruo's delicate profile.

"Should we go over and say hello?" Xu Ling asked excitedly.

Before Xu Wen could answer, Gu Xingruo turned around and saw them.

The calm face instantly showed the bright smile that Xu Wen was familiar with.

"Xu Wen! Lingling!" She pushed open the car door and walked over quickly in high heels.

Under the street light, her red skirt swayed gently in the night breeze.

"Sister Ruoruo!" Xu Ling cheered, let go of her brother's hand and ran over.

Gu Xingruo hugged Xu Ling's shoulders affectionately, but her eyes fell on Xu Wen: "I thought about it and decided to come and pick you up."

Xu Wen looked at the eldest lady's car, then at his own car: "Why did you suddenly think of picking us up? Didn't I drive here?"

"I missed you, and I ordered some midnight snacks, thinking you might be hungry too." Gu Xingruo naturally put her arm around his, and the scent of perfume mixed with her unique body temperature wafted over.

Xu Ling was laughing at the side, and Gu Xingruo gently pinched her cheek: "What are you laughing at, little girl?"

"Nothing, I just think you are particularly beautiful today, Sister Ruoruo."
